He asks us to meet him at Shantay's pass. We should be prepared for adventure and equipped to survive in the Desert.

We go to the Pass and meet with the Archaeologist and the bodyguards, who have all their digging equipment and whatnot. Then, the happy group heads out into the desert!

The Archaeologist doesn't question your decision to go to Sophanem but begs that you find a way to avoid trekking across the entire desert. The Carpet Merchant seems the ideal choice, but no one wants to spend that much money to get to Sophanem. Someone comes up with the brilliant idea of carpetpooling and you get stuck with the bill. After an interesting cutscene of six people flying on a magic carpet, you arrive in the city.

Once we arrive in Sophanem, we ask the Archaeologist what to do next, but suddenly two hooded assassins (Level 112 and 115) attack us. They are strong, but with the help of the bodyguards, you should be able to fend them off. You feel a little strange after killing them. Also each of them drops an eye, a blue and a brown.

You have no idea what is going on, but you suspect the Archaeologist of hiding something.

(If you leave during the battle, speak to the Archaeologist to trigger the battle again)

The Archaeologist demands that you give him the eyes. You don't have much of a choice, since the bodyguards seem to be more on his side than yours. Once he has the eyes, he proclaims that there is no longer any need to be in Sophanem and you should head out to the digging area.

Once at the digging area, the archaeologist seems to be acting a bit strange.

He randomly turns around after mumbling a few words, and whispers in the guards ear. The next thing you know, you are hit unsuspectantly in the back of the head with a blackjack and are knocked out cold.

You wake up in a small tent. Your hands and legs are tied and your mouth is shut. You blame yourself being so naive and notices talking outside the tent, they are clearly guarding you.

After trying to escape, you remove some of the sand and reveal a large stone hidden beneath the sand. It is very smooth and doesn't seem to be natural.

Very quietly you unbury the stone. After totally uncovering it, you attempt to free yourself again. After several failed attempts, the guards come back inside and...

...knock you out again! Apparently you need to be constantly moved so that you don't do anything to disrupt the Archaeologist's plans. Luckily, you managed to store the stone before you were knocked out. When you next awaken, you are in a small room in the belly of a ship. From the wild rocking, you must be in the middle of a violent storm.
