Fairness for Items?

Here is a thread I'm writing all about making some melee-specific items range and magic counterparts Grin

Pretty much everyone is aware of how biased RuneScape is. Melee gets the majority of updates, does the majority of the damage, has the majority of players using it

Hopefully my ideas will help this stop. Its nothing huge like nerfing melee or making magic more powerful its actually just taking useful items that melee can take advantage of and making a ranged and magic version.

Items like Black Masks make melee most useful while doing Slayer what if it had magic and ranged counterparts?


I know that the stats arent that accurate. You see, melee has an accuracy skill (attack) and a damage skill (strength) that ranged and magic doesnt have. In other words, this could never be a totally fair update to everyone without the ideas on the following thread(s): 74-75-82-58682217 and 76-77-865-58687464.

Since there arent accuracy and power skills for magic and ranged, I just said adding X% to accuracy and damage (which I know isnt accurate, but its the best I can do).

The Stronghold of Security is a very unfair update to mages and rangers. These boots actually give NEGATIVE attack bonuses to the two.

The Stronghold of Player Safety is also an unfair update, but not for the reasons mentioned above. Although it may seem stupid, its unfair because it has no colorful alternative like the Stronghold of Security. Besides that, they are also vambraces. For one, they look like something a warrior would use, and two, well, theyre vambraces! Archers use those! Mages cant be stuck with that!

What I am proposing is an update to the Strongholds. Update their prizes! Make them worth doing and make the items more useful. I realize that Fancy/Fighting boots have the stats of Bronze boots, but seriously, why?

The Fancy Gloves would be the new reward option from the Stronghold of Player Safety. They would look like Fancy Boots in color, but look like normal gloves in size and shape. Safety Gloves would now be called Fighting Gloves.

The stats may seem high, but theyre only based on non-member F2P gloves and boots, including the current stats, making them slightly better.

Every experienced slayer knows how useful a Black Mask can be Slayer Helmets are even more useful! Unfortunately, magic and ranged got cut out of this deal. Black Masks and Slayer Helmets only affect melee damage.

So I suggest new masks: Grey Masks and White Masks. All would still be dropped by Cave Horrors the new masks.


Grey Mask (ranged)
Effect: Adds 15% to your accuracy and damage with ranged.

White Mask (magic)
Effect: Adds 15% to your accuracy and damage with magic


Im not going to bother with stats.

Magics damage boost most likely wouldnt affect max hit, but it could.


The Slayer Helmets would be the same, just have an (g), (b) or (w) after the name if it was made with a grey or white mask. The stats would also differ slightly.

SALVE AMULET


The Salve Amulet is another unfair item to Magic and Ranged. The effect only works for melee.

So I suggest in the cave where you get the Salve Amulet, you have the ability to get 3 different crystals.

Salve Amulet (l) would just be a Salve Amulet made with the first new crystal, a light purple (almost pink) colored one. This crystal gives 15% (20% after the Lair of Tarn Razorlor miniquest) extra accuracy and damage to undead while using magic.

Salve Amulet (d) would be made with another new crystal, this one dark purple (nearly black) that adds 15% (20% after the Lair of Tarn Razorlor miniquest) extra accuracy and damage to the undead while using ranged.

KERIS


The Keris dagger is an extremely powerful weapon. It adds 50% to your attack and strength when fighting Locust, Scarab, and Kalphite creatures. It has another extremely useful effect it can land a vicious blow, tripling damage usually done.

After part of the Contact! quest you obtain this powerful weapon. My idea, however, can get you two new forms of it.

After completion of the Contact! quest, you may speak to Osman. For 20k, he will give you the option to switch your Keris dagger for the newly discovered Keris bow and Keris staff.


Keris bows add 50% to your damage and accuracy against the three creatures Keris is effective against. It can also land a vicious blow.

GODSWORDS


GodSwords are almighty bringers of death and destruction. While slow, they are capable of MASSIVE damage, sometimes 1-hit KOs.

Im not going to post ideas here for counterparts to the idea here, since theyve already been thought up.

Lol, I suggested Tan and Dark masks (to match the Cavaliers) and have already got pictures in the gallery. Tongue

Interesting...however white masks should be dropped by the albino bats in the cave, and instead of gray give the jungle horrors green ones...

Ummm... what's the point? Black masks require a slayer level to get from a drop, so should the rest. I don't think that it should change.

Oh...and of course these monster's lvls attacks and looks should be changed and they should be given the same slayer lvl as cave horrors

Lol, new horrors would be better! Like... a Treetop Horror, you have to cut down the trees to bring them to the ground, and they are very angry for you destroying their home! And... ummm... Marine Harros! You need to fish them out first. That's fishing and woodcutting... the logical addition to Cave Horrors (if needed) should be mining. Smile
