Bronze < Iron < Steel < Mithril < Adamant < Rune < NEW < NEW < NEW

Legendary equipment should never, really, surpass the final in the chromatic chain. Smile

Well, in a world governed by gods and magic I can't see how a weapon blessed by the gods, enchanted by archmages, and forged by the finest smiths of a race far more skilled than we are could fail to outstrip our own creations

The entire smithing skill is biased, so is mining. Rune should require 50 mining or so to mine and around 50 smithing to smith, then add 4 new ones, no fancy effects, just stats.

Dark, simple answer to your comment is that magic fades. Even the barrier upon the River Salve begun to fade. Smile

Which the Godsword, staff of Armadyl, and just about every magical item in the game has been. Besides, the Shield of Arrav is perhaps the most powerful shield in existence... yet it was cracked in two. Magic doesn't make it impervious to the effect of age, wear and tear - or even direct conflict. Even in real life modern equipment surpasses that of ancient times, however, nature always surpasses that.

but magic could make something impervious to wear and tear. I have to disagree with you on that one. The idea of Magic making items impervious to wear and tear can be found everywhere...admittedly runescape has never directly said "and this item has been made completely indesructible by magic." but that doesn't mean it's impossible

and...he shield of arrav only works for certain people, i doubt it could have been broken had a rightful bearer been in possesion of it

The wear and tear was merely a counter to an argument your brought up, I wouldn't have personally called the godswords enchanted. They are powerful blades, in deed, but it is the player that makes them from an already shatter blade. If the blade can be broken then it can be broken again.
