Version 1 died when I went on

What: The ability to see our total experience ingame.

Effect: We could see our total experience without leaving Runescape.

Why:
I know we can have multiple windows or tabs opened, but we still need
to log off simply to view our total experience. Also, the millions of
players who are not ranked on the Hi-scores currently have no way to
see their total experience.

Extra Content: This would work by us hovering the mouse cursor over the total level icon. It would display something like:
Total level: 1529
Total experience 20,034,013

reason for this suggestion is simply the point of it; it is very
annoying having to either perform multiple calculations which are very
easy to make mistakes on, or to log out and go on the hi-scores, simply
to find out our total experience. It must also be very annoying for the
millions of un-ranked players to not be able to view their total
experience.

What happens if you hover your mouse over a skill?
It tells you the skill name, the level, the experience and the experience until your next level.

What happens if we hover our mouse over the total level?
Nothing.

I,
for one, find this very annoying and illogical. I think when we hover
our mouse over total level a similar screen should come up.

This would be something like:

Total level:1492

Total Exp:17,500,042

I
can't see why Jagex shouldn't simply give us the ability to find out
our total experience, without logging out or performing calculations,
which will probably log you out anyway.

The Number one Problem of course is the Maximum Integer Problem, with
Java. I have no idea whether Runescript helps or can help, but the
maximum Java Integer is approximately 2.15 billion.
It is exactly 2,147,483,648 (Thanks to Cap Lock13)

This
means that some could argue my idea is simply not plausible. This
allows only about half of the Total Exp in Runescape; not that this
truly affects us yet, as no-one has even crossed 1.5 Billion yet, and
only recently was 1 Billion hit.

However, some ideas will be needed, and this is where some brainstorming is needed.

1) Divide each Level's Exp by 1,000. Take the sum of this as the Formula for the Total Exp cell.
+ Simple Solution.
+ Makes the idea work easily without giving us hard calculations.
- Would waste space on the Interface in Jagex putting something to tell us how it works.

2) As for the maximum value, the easiest way would just to have a value up to 999,999,999; and then just show Xb + X.

E.g.

1,234,567,890 would appear as 1b + 234,567,890
999,999,999***would appear as______999,999,999
4,800,000,000 would appear as 4b + 800,000,000

As for the calculation it could be set so that after each billion it starts counting again from zero.

I think this is a great idea. I've always wanted to see my total exp in-game. Perhaps we can say stuff about it on Clan Chat, too.

You could have it written in Scientific Notation

3 x 10^5 = 300000 for example.

Hehe. Thanks though! Although, standard form is a little difficult, and asking a Java engine to convert 3billion to standard form would cause the same problem, I think, as it still has to deal with the number.

The number is also that number because it's a power of 2, so I assume Java already runs on Powers.

One other thing...I'd love to see the Overall Highscores be ranked by level as they currently are...and also have a list done in order of experience regardless of total level...

Hypothetically someone could have 200m xp in 20 skills and have a good 3billion xp margin over gertjaars but because three of their skills were 95 they would be thousands of ranks below him

I think there should be skill and experience based overall highscores
