PvP hit or miss?
Is it just me or is (whole world) PvP really lame
... unless you really try to be good as in good armour and food etc. you don't get any good drops. Oh sorry i forgot that you can survive long enough to get really good drops... but u need good food and armour for that too... I really like the bounty though it brings back old memories of good old wilderness. The real one too. And you can get good drops no matter what when you kill ur bounty. Bounty rocks to me but old PvP is no good for me.

I don't like the new PvP system.
Most minigames limit what you can take in. The Wilderness could have easily just had a similar restriction, but otherwise remain completely unchanged. Full PVP worlds is a nice addition, but it should have just been a full-world version of a slightly modified old system. Bounty Hunter could just be a Wilderness minigame... some people prefer structured game-play, and Bounty Hunter would provide this without killing the mainstream wilderness that made RuneScape so popular. It seems like such a simple solution, I don't see why Jagex thought they needed to be so complicated.

Re: PvP hit or miss?
The RWT problem in the Wilderness was that players were carrying their spoils and allowing the other player to kill them and take it. Limiting what they make take in to drop solves this problem and is barely different from the current system - the only difference is, your opponent will only ever drop what they have and not something that they could only ever dream of dropping.
By spoils I mean like a player buys 10mil gp for 50, the seller goes to the Wilderness and the buyer kills them. This is less detectable than a direct trade of 10mil. A similar form of RWT was happening via Drop Parties and Duelling.

If it had a better system I don't mind... no-one is forcing you. Bounty Worlds are crap... what's the point? They should have just put Bounty Worlds in the wilderness of every world.

Re: PvP hit or miss?
Yeah, but that's how the wilderness was suppose to be - dangerous.

Re: PvP hit or miss?
I know! I know how it worked...
The RWT companies stole credit cards in order to pay for the rwt accounts that funneled all the gold...and the bots that got it.
They stole the guards of people who bought from them...
Some of these ended up in court and credit cards companies were losing money etc. etc.
So the CCC's gave jagex an ultimatum...get rid of the problem...or players can't pay for membership using our credit cards (main payment method)
Jagex had to do it or it might have destroyed runescape...
Before you go and say that limiting items would work...yeah right...
Either it is the way it is or you'd have to make it so that the best armour allowed in was rune...because only being able to trade in dragon equips, godswords, 3a, Spirit Shields etc. wouldn't limit RWT much

Re: PvP hit or miss?
You realise the RWT and Stolen Credit Cards are different, however related, issues. Real World Trading has nothing to do, as the name suggests, stolen credit cards... if anything, the credit card companies should up their game and prevent the details being stolen. I have never heard that Jagex were given an ultimatium... I know they had to pay back money that they spent that was stolen, but there was no condition. Jagex did it in their own interest... they couldn't afford to keep paying back.
Real World Trading is an ethical issue. Jagex didn't like the air of game play that purchasing items via real world currency was creating... and the bots collecting the items were annoying ingame also. The fact bots were related to another issue made this worse. But you're right... stopping direct drops doesn't solve the issue any more than randomly getting the same drops anyway.
To be fair... if someone is selling rare drops they can just allow the buyer to kill them until they get good drops. It's hardly any different. "Companies" can just have multiple kill-targets for the buyer to kill...
RWT trading will always exist... they will evolve to surpass preventions that a game puts in place. However, players will not tolerate the game's attempts to beat RWT... there's a fine line that RuneScape is sitting on. RWT will beat the system, they always do... but RuneScape won't survive another attempt to stop it. Sometimes it's best to just leave it. World of Warcraft does the RWT legally... they sell gold legitimately, beat them at their own game.
