Ħ! Becoming the Beast !Ħ

Transformation. Transfiguration. Shapeshift. By any other name, it's still not a very unique concept. Is it? Well, I'm going to try.

Zoanthropy would be a member's only skill, which would be made available upon the completion of a damsel-in-distress style quest (which would unintentionally teach you the basic dynamics and, for roleplayers, the importance of a players Zoanthropy ability). To summarize, the "damsel" has become host to a terrified bear spirit and you must act quick to coax it from their body - requiring you to call upon the expertise of the local shaman. The quests acts as an introduction to the skill, providing you with your first numen and the experience required to begin training the skill. Further experience is obtained through training whilst in beast-form.

*being rewritten from this point*

Unlike typical ideas, Zoanthropy doesn't use pouches, spells or potions. Whilst it could easily fit in Magic, it shouldn't; same for Herblore and Summoning. Zoanthropy has too much potential as a stand-alone skill, not a subsection of an already established skill. Zoanthropy is a combat skill and it would affect your combat level. However, maximum combat level wouldn't change. Instead, where Summoning is current added, it would be your average Zoanthropy/Summoning level.

How it works? The basic premise of Zoanthropy involves capturing numens (aka, possessive spirits) within baited vessels. Then, at a time conveniant to you, simple interact with the vessel and the numen will corrupt your physical form. You're basically providing new flesh for the creature's spirit; a host. This is referred to as the "Beast" or "Beast-form". There an interesting anomaly, within Zoanthropy, where the numen will prefer your genetic makeup, causing a partial transformation. The resulting beast is called as "Were" (pronounced ware, like warehouse; think werewolf, lol). Becoming a were is entirely random.

For role-players, increases your skill at Zoanthropy heightens your ability to control invasive spirits. If you were to try and take on a numen above your level, it might permanently corrupt your form and YOU will be lost. This could be the foundations of some interesting quests revolving around this skill - where a particularly nasty spirit has found itself a host and is causing chaos. Quite interestingly, prolonged exposure to the Ring of Charos appears to show similar symptoms to those being controlled by invasive spirits. Perhaps our trust ring of manipulation is, in fact, a vessel containing a fragment of Charos' being?

Hehe, just thought I'd try and create a HTML table. The fact I did my best to replicate the RS forum is purely a coincidence. Wink
