Carnillean Rising
In a bid to train young Phillipe Carnillean to become an adventurer, Cecil wants you, yes you, to make a quest for him. This gives us the opportunity to build a quest of our own, with the monsters, obstacles and protagonists.
It requires;
31 Construction
33 Thieving
50 Quest Points
Hazeel Cult
More rewards are available to higher level players, including being able to create your own missions with friends by storing treasure for them in a chest you acquire as a reward.
What's the opinion?

Re: Carnillean Rising
Have to admit, I was hoping for Hazeel. We seem to be getting too many standalone quests and I wanted some actual meaning for Runescape's storyline.
Other than that, though, it looks like this may be a fairly interesting one to play. If executed correctly.
The promise of higher level rewards for higher level players also interests me...

It seems interesting though the only reason Hazeel Cult is a req is because well you steal crap from the mansion. Hazeel went to the North (didn't he) in RoTM.

Re: Carnillean Rising
Yup. Fairly neat quest but like so many recent quests it has so little storyline significance to Runescape that it's difficult to be excited about it.

Re: Carnillean Rising
Hmmm, well, I think they are in a stage were they want to flesh RS as a world more, I mean, the world isn't composed of the eventual return of our almighty leader Zaros, or of the struggle of the Dragonkin, or of the fate of the Mahjarrat. What I mean with this, it's that they are adding quests that tell us "RS is a world with normal situations* similar to ours".
*By normal, I mean normal in a fantasy/medieval world

Re: Carnillean Rising
I personally don't care very much for standalone quests. Flesh out the world, fine, but do it by making new, exciting stories rather than insignificant ones.
Although I am being a tad harsh. The quest was fun and made me laugh a couple of times, it would just be nice if it had more plot.

Re: Carnillean Rising
WellI agree with you, that could be accomplished with mini-quests. But my point is, that the developers want to give RS a more realistic* feel, by adding situations in wich we can feel more empathic. FOr example, Carnillean Rising, as far as I know, is basically a father who wants to change his son just so he can have something to be proud. But I could be wrong and they are just making filler releases.
*Again, by realisitc I mean in a fantasy/medieval setting.

Re: Carnillean Rising
or more realistic by hiving stories that lead really no where. Who knows, this might evolve in to a quest series.

I'm all for sacrificing a bit of realism in order to make a better game...

Re: Carnillean Rising
I played the quest. I like the ending, particularly the letter Phillipe leaves for you. Whilst I thought it was a concept that sounded boring, it had heart.
Anyone think the Wolf Matriarch had something to do with Hazeel?

^
maybe, maybe not. I mean we don't know much about the dude, unless you do RoTM.

Re: Carnillean Rising
Well, the dungeons are close to Hazeel's Lair, have graffiti saying "Carnilleans Suck" nearby a logo of Hazeel Cult...

Re: Carnillean Rising
We might see a Sequel were young Phillipe has grown up and is looking to find someone to help him. This could start to see a bond formed between Phillipe and Sasparilla, where he is the strength in the outfit and she assists in the planning.

Re: Carnillean Rising
I had an idea for a sequel.
After Phillipe has gained some experience in adventuring, he returned home briefly to get something to eat from home, whilst taking a break from an adventure that has left him somewhat stumped. Whilst collecting his rations from the cellar, he happens upon another dungeon beneath the house, opposite the one previously built.
However, the dungeon prooves more puzzling than he first thought, but refuses to be beaten by it. He then realises that his progress isn't going to continue, unless he finds someone who can help with the more intricate work in quests. It looks as if he needs a companion, but rather someone who doesn't have other duties to fulfil.
This leads to Sasparilla. Whilst she is very smart and very versatile, she hasn't much interest in adventuring, unless you decide to carry out the same method that encouraged young Phillipe; making it seem like a big play.
Heading straight into another adventure, but entirely unaware she is; Sasparilla joins in the belief this escapade is all a mere talent scouting. But when the dangers become real, it might just show that she might have something of a hero within her after all.
What do you think?
Possible reward:
Much like how Phillipe can be found across RuneScape afterwards, so can Sasparilla with Phillipe. She also gives out lamps.
75 Quest Points - Magic Training Arena
125 Quest Points - Nardah
175 Quest Points - Zanaris
225 Quest Points - Lunar Isle
275 Quest Points - n/a
325 Quest Points - TzHaar Volcano
375 Quest Points - Senntisten Temple
425 Quest Points - n/a

Maybe Piscatoris and/or Legend's Guld Dungeon for places?
