First topic message reminder :

It's time to get some sort of Project of the Month™️ back up and running! Wink

I've decided that it's about time I finish something, and by "I" I mean all of you! Tongue

Zoanthropy! I suggest you take a gander at the Archaeology thread, as that is the standard we should aim for! They general concept for our version of the commonly suggestion transformation skill is one that doesn't use potions, or pouches. Instead, you must capture spirits and allow them to posses you! But where we go in terms of creature is up to you guys! In World of Warcraft they have only a few beasts - bear-form, aqua-form, cat-form, etc. It's not like summoning with a big list. A thread on the forums has something similar, he has very few types of beast, and instead has it that levelling unlocks further abilities with a small selection of creatures. The two methods each have their pros and cons, few creatures mean players can easily pick out favourites and develop good tactics - a Summoning-style system means there is lots of variety, but usually the higher-levelled ones are better meaning all the earlier levels are almost wasted. I vote for a handful of creatures, but that's just me. Smile

Oh, and is anyone good at drawing simple?

Oh yeah... umm... maybe numens don't like heavily populated areas? Maybe they automatically retreat when you enter places like Falador, etc. The same reason bears don't walk in normally. Wink

It would be annoying being limited this much, many woods are very dense and it would take quite a time manouvring around.

How big do you imagine they are? More than 2x2 and 2x1?

A bear is 2x2 I think, possibly 2x3. Most numens are no bigger than this, brutes are 2x2, wolves are 1x2, it's only bears, bovine and stuff that are a little longer... but none are wider than 2. So it's only really doors we have to worry about. Wink

Fo' sure! Harpies can wield weapons, btw, just thought I'd add - it's obvious with brutes that they can do that. Tongue

Well... considering you most likely wouldn't use the numen unless your in a training area, I guess bigger would be okay.

No.. no. He said "shoes". All I meant was, did he mean "metal boots". There are many other shoes in RuneScape, and we agreed that not all numens would require chain/graded items (or at least some non-metal ones). We don't really require horseshoes as an item as we cannot wear horseshoes to trigger the transformation. Wink

But I'm not claiming it's a finished skill. Wink

Nawh, what I meant with Mastery is that there doesn't seem to be enough that distinguishes it as a skill over an ability. Magic could quite easily have spells like "Fill Bucket"... there doesn't seem to be much in the sense of mastering. I can see how it would work, I'd love to see an element of Avatar where you actually learn to bend the elements... but I don't see how it could fit into RuneScape. It requires more joystick/controller type play-mode... I'm struggling to see a point-click element bending that doesn't just replicate Magic. Confuse

And magic could easily have a summon spirit ability, an initiate contact with the gods ability...a shield me from _____ type damage ability. So why are those separate skills... huh? And why should your precious Zoanthropy be it's own skill... Why should runecrafting be it's own skill...why isn't fletching crafting...why aren't mining and woodcutting strength? When you can answer those questions get back to me

Yes, they could easily be a spell... but the fact is, Zoanthropy, Runecraft and the like aren't. Tongue

Magic - Spells
Summoning - Pouches
Zoanthropy - Vessels
Necromancy - Rituals
Conjuring/Smithing/Fletching/Crafting - These are craft skills, it's all boring point-and-click. Wink

All could be spells, but other methods have been created. You could click on a "Summon Wolf" spell, but in RuneScape you don't. "Fill Bucket", personally, sounds like a spell... the fact it doesn't use runes just makes it sound unfair on Magic. Tongue
