The Axarian Revolution [PROGRESS STOPPED FOR NOW]

Post by Dragon78114 on Wed Dec 30, 2009 10:36 am

First topic message reminder :

Alright, I posted the seventh quest in the series! However, due to my time constraints, I'm only posting the first quest here; every other quest is on our wiki page.
~~~~~
In a land called the Azzain Peninsula, a dictatorship rules a large and prosperous city named Azzan. Now this dictatorship subjugates its pawns, exiles heretics or anyone deemed to cause political instability, and imports unsuspecting newcomers to be brainwashed into their new society.  …Shock
Luckily inside Axar, a city just south of Azzan and is made up of those exiled citizens, hides a resistance known as the Zarr Clan. This resistance is a group of honest Axarians who know what the Priests are doing and they need the help of an outsider to launch one of the most daring feats in Runescape's history: end the tyranny the Priests bring upon their world.
This series is fun, dramatic, and violent: a perfect mix of ingredients for a gripping political drama…all in these nine challenging quests. Of course the first quest is easiest, being only novice, but each successive quest will get harder, with the last three (3) quests being grandmaster. Confuse
So, are you up for the challenge?
Thanks! Smile
The plot starts to drag in the second one, and then it really picks up in Axar III.
Right, I've read through a fair bit (I like what I'm seeing by the way Smile), but I won't be able to read any more for the next week. I'll be in Italy.
I'll finish up when I come back.
Everyone's leaving! Shock
I'm reading this at work. I've done about the first post (which I think I've read a lot of before, but it's changed somewhat). The description of the peninsula was confusing. I'll be finished at some point... but I'm enjoying having something to do on my breaks. Smile
IKR! I'm at Princeton studying politics, and I'll be here for another 2.5 weeks! Tongue
Yeah, I changed some information on the front page with some updates for quests... I'll look at the description of the peninsula. What is so confusing about it?
When I said first post I don't know what I meant. I must've missed the post-separation on my phone. Some way down the page. Wink
I don't know, maybe it was just on my phone it looked confusing. But it was like... a big peninsula, with an enormous peninsula growing out the top and a little one growing out the bottom and lots of others apparently growing out the bottom too. Wink
It doesn't really look like your concept art. But maybe that's because of how I'm imagining a peninsula. The only thing that really looks like a peninsula is the southern bit, the mass of "smaller peninsulas" looks like a jumble of islands with a land bridge. And the northern segment looks like it's a solid landmass with a water inlet cutting in. Technically that's probably all peninsulas, but that's like calling the Cornwall-Devon part of the UK a peninsula (which it probably is but it sounds wrong Tongue). Confuse
Well you do have a point. I consider it a peninsul because the landmass you described was placed literally jutting out of the Kharidian Desert (before the Runescape map redraw) and was signified by the plateaus that makes it isolated.
I don't depute the whole landmass is a peninsula, just you've describe it as a mass of peninsulas all connected to one giant peninsula. Tongue
You gonna send me the redraw version? If you can't, try saving it in a lower resolution. Our Gallery doesn't seem to support high-res images without doing... well, what you can see to them. Wink
I've got the first message, with no attachments. I'm guessing it's because when you click to email it doesn't tell you my email address and it's just some form on the site. Tongue
You shoulda received a reply saying "Email away!" Wink
Is it important that it all faces to the East?
Do either of these take your fancy?
the first one is best, but there must be a clear passage from Meiyerditch to Azzan due to the lore, so either you could send/extend the peninsula north, or shave the top off of Mesokharidia.
However, the second map does look better aesthetically, not practically.
Re: The Axarian Revolution [PROGRESS STOPPED FOR NOW]
Post by 3mptylord on Fri Jul 16, 2010 6:36 pm
I'll see if I can combine the two! Wink
Note though that mesokharidia is a stone desert that is almost entirely raised from the rest of the desert, similar to Ullek. It's just cracked ground and such. Even if they landed on Meso they would have surely ascended into the peninsula as it's fertile. Although there are forgotten temples and such so maybe it's not a good idea... although, most religion is based on lies. The original story can be whatever you want. Tongue
Thanks! Smile
The idea of Mesokharidia works so well- the Azzain Peninsula is isolated by huge mesas/plateaus that are like sky-high. These are barren; just rock, and the creatures living in them (underground cave system) are a tad scary. Confuse
Desert Abominations and Demon Followers of Hector exist in there...
You do have a point about religion an lies, it would make sense for the Priests just to go off from oral tradition from exaggeration. But let's see the updated idea, first! Tongue
Oh yeah, remember that Morytania had been moved artificially... the gap would have been larger 150 or so years ago. I suppose Meso's quite lucky the Seven Priestly Warriors stopped when they did. Wink
I really like the first picture. The second picture, you put the peninsula too close to Mieyerditch Wink
lol, sorry! I really want to show this series. It has been at least a year since this project began and I want it DONE. Azzan I-III are all very short.
What have you read so far?
I have one more quest I have yet to release, and I'm treating it like it is my baby, so it won't come out for LONG time, and that is the coolest, longest addition to the series: Axar V. Wink
I took it down from the RSOF thinking that I released it prematurely, so no peeking! Tongue
"Target the atheists.
Clean up the town of Axar.
