Sentient Cabbage Empty Sentient Cabbage

Post by Ruy112 Wed Jan 06, 2010 7:02 pm

Okay, so I got this idea yesterday, but I am not sure, where to bring it, so I decided to pitch this here.

But how can cabbage be sentient? They have no senses, no limbs. Well, cabbage have a very limited psionic ability. Alone cabbage is lost in the darkness, but luckily it has the ability to connect with other cabbages. This has resulted in all cabbage being connected.

Cabbage spends most of the time philosophizing about abstract subjects, dreaming green dreams and singing silent songs about sun and water. They don't know/care much about the world around them. It has been like this for a long long time, cabbage doesn't care about time, so how long is unknown.

Then something happened in the world of cabbages. Their strange and green dreams were torn apart by pain. Humans started eating cabbage, and the feeling of being torn from the ground, being chewed was distributed among all the other cabbages and they shared each others pain.

Then something happened. A cabbage was kicked to O'Gloog and the pain was immense. So when it reached O'Gloog, cabbage only wished for it to stop. And then they used another ability of theirs.

Cabbage is noetic, it is able to influence the real world with their mind. They've never been conscious of this power, and never really used it, apart from maybe making it rain during drought. Each cabbage has only limited noetic abilities, but using the cabbage patch in Draynor, as a magnifying glass for all the cabbages connected all over Gielinor, they can actually accumulate quite a lot of power.

So when the cabbage reached O'Gloog, they used this power and manifested a being in an attempt to make the pain stop. However, the only shape they knew was cabbage, so the creature created was only a giant cabbage. Not knowing what to do, it read the mind of the player, and did what the player expected it to do.

This might not like such a big event, but it was. For when the Brassica Prime looked into the mind of the player, it saw the world. It was a Big Bang of Knowledge for cabbage, their world was suddenly expanded millions of times. They became aware of themselves as cabbage, they know why we eat them, they know why it rains and why it doesn't.

So know, cabbage has become sentient and that is where this story ends. What will cabbage do? What will they use their new knowledge for? No doubt that cabbage has amazing potential, but how will they use it?

Discuss. alien

Thanks Dark Tongue I am thinking of making this into a very long rather hard intermediate quest. Just because your skills are low, you have to complete cake-quests without any challenge whatsoever...
