Re: Lore v2.0
Well for starters you can say this about the RuneScape environment.
It has roughly the same gravity of Earth and supports a magnetic field to protect from cosmic radiation. However, the air contains less carbon dioxide than Earth's air, due to the scarcity of modern urbanisation and volcanic activity. However, carbon dioxides, oxides of nitrogen and sulphides are somewhat localised to the barren wastelands of the wilderness, where volcanic acitvity is relatively localised.
Most notable about RuneScape is the increase in background radiation in comparison to Earth, and all things are affected by this. One particular rock can harness this radiation and it can be effectively purified to adopt a variety of characteristics at specific locations. This mineral is commonly referred to as rune essence and can take on a rounded, grey appearance.
Arzonus has even higher levels of radiation for reasons that seem unknown. Earth humans would suffer prolonged illness from exposure to radiation, and even Gielinorian humans that have adapted to increased radiation suffer some sickness when entering this environment. Living here are werewolves, whom perfectly adapt to this environment and feel no ill-effects, only the occasional mutation emerging as special abilities.

Re: Lore v2.0
The magical matrix embedded beneath our feet runs it's hexakis rivers right across the globe, with the points where the lines meet being the weakest (or strongest, depending on how you look at it). Magic literally seeps through the ground and, in the ancient times, these gulleys were plugged with what can be found as ancient remains scattered across the world. Some of the veins have collapsed and a few have run dry; but most have been as potent as the day they were discovered.
It's suspected that many more exist than those known.
One of said tablets is fated to explode in the near future. The effects will be interesting to say the least.

So far as I'm aware I made it up - well, the matrix itself is already in game, but the lore around it.
