How you like your time travel?

Simple question: how do you think of time travel?

For me, I'm a discrete entity person. I view bodies and items as moving through time, not extending through it. therefore, when I think of time travel, the traveler is just a sac of electrons and protons and neutrons and various other subatomic particles being hurled to another point on the line. I don't think these have some distinct link to however they were constructed, so I give no credence to the grandfather paradox: well great, you killed him, but you're still the same sack of particles. This causes a bit of a mindfuck in that every event of time travel has to be viewed as a discrete split of time...but hell that's what makes it fun.

I don't believe faster-than-light time travel is possible. Other methods such as wormholes, etc, I don't really know.

For me, we each have our own timeline... this is perfectly straight, from the creation of your sperm cell to death and the decay of your form. This timeline might not be parallel to the general timeline... 0CE to 2011CE for example, but it's linear to you. If you change the past, you leave that timeline and enter a new one. The timeline you left doesn't disappear... it's still in your past. Thus, the grandfather paradox doesn't work for me either... you can't erase yourself.

In fiction, I prefer predestination. It's impossible to change history as your presence in the past/future was always the case/will always happen. You go back and kill your grandfather before he impregnates your grandmother... he was never your grandfather. Obviously there comes a point where you could just go back an annihilation everything... but that's where the Methods of Rationality has engorged my imagination. Time will fix itself. Someone will stop you, something will go wrong, it won't allow itself to be broken.

Knowing the future is what causes it to happen, sort of thing.
