A Tribute to Villains

This is a thread dedicated to fictional villains. What makes them simply so dastardly, such that they either rile you up or make you envy them?

My first thought is that you mentioned on the Heroes thread that we can discuss real-life heroes, but on the villains thread you did not propose to discuss real-life villains.

If there once was love then maybe something survived. If we find a single diamond in the rough then it's worth it. Through a thousand tears if there's one drop of love then it's worth it.

In seriousness, rather than comedies, I like villains who are anti-heroes... in that, they aren't being villains for the sake of it. But, if they are for the sake of it, I like 'em when they have no remorse/compassion. True to their ruthlessness 'til the end.
