JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
Thought you should know...
Any ideas? Anything we've already got that fits the criteria?
If you’ve ever had an idea for a skill update, and wished that you could play it in-game, now is your chance! We’re looking for the most original, entertaining and enticing ideas for high-level skill updates, so that we can pitch the best of them to an audience at RuneFest, and then open them up for a vote. The winning suggestion from that vote will be scripted, written, wrapped up in beautiful graphics and audio, and then released next year for everyone to play and appreciate. If it’s your idea, you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy your own creation, and watch as others enjoy it too: take it from us, no prize can match that feeling!
To help ensure we get some really useful and great ideas we’d really like you to use these guidelines:
It should be high-level
It should train or include skills that are NOT combat skills
It should be of a low-to-medium size (charm sprites and extreme potions are good examples)
It should provide an item reward
The reward should not be combat-related, but can benefit combat in the long term
If you want to put forward your idea, then please send an email to ‘community@jagex.com’ and we’ll check it out. If you want more information, then read our forum thread here: 235-236-897-63249059. We need all suggestions by Thursday, 13th October, in order to view them all before RuneFest, so please email us before then.
You do not need to be at RuneFest to submit your idea, but we’d still like you to come along; if you want to be in the audience that decides the best of these high-level skill suggestions, then buy a ticket and come see us at the ‘You Be The Judge’ insider session.
Good luck!
The RuneFest team

Mine is too big.
They would never take Arzonus, it is simply too big to submit. Also it doesn't fit in with the rules entirely.

Of my current projects, the 2nd Age Saga and The Dungeoneering Planes are too big, and the Firemaking Revamp is, from low to high level content, quite combat related.
The again, I might be able to pick out some of the rewards in The Dungeoneering Planes and suggest them...

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
It would be nice if I could revamp my grave robbing idea, but I have too much school to deal with right now... -.-
EDIT: Also, Slayer, you should submit at least a part of your dungeoneering idea. I mean, you ideas cannot add another combat skill, but they can *help* combat.

I would love to submit Arzonus, but with the Nightmare Begins needing to be finished, it'll most likely exceed the thread limit (Mark of Magnus filled out 20 posts last time and the Nightmare Begins is so much bigger).

Can you submit Arzonus? I think Jagex wants specifically new skill ideas.

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
The criteria say it should train non-combat skills. All rewards in the dungeoneering planes are acquired through combat. I'm trying to figure out a way to sate the criteria.
As for you, Morb. The "It should be of a low-to-medium size" condition rules out the massive Arzonus... This definitely isn't the place for it.
These criteria are actually really frustratingly restrictive...

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
well they did say it can help combat in the long run by not immediately impacting it.
I think they meant like combat skills. I'm sure "additions" to combat will be accepted?
EDIT: I see what you mean.
Perhaps you could think of a new idea.
I'm probably going to send my galvanized armor idea in. Now that I can think about it...
(It is a part of my quest series).

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
I could still do Wolf's Pet, that is, if summoning isn't considered a combat skill (because not all of the summoning familiars are combat related, some involves skills).

I still say that you should try to go for arzonus, so who wants to make a huge brainstorm for a new town?

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
I take it the Underworld and the Lacertae are a little too advanced and combat orientated to work?
I did come up with something in the Pandoran Boxes that would be very handy to nuture magic (before they began to balance it). It would feature shots, alcoholic drinks that if drunk and then spat out had a variety of effects when used on a torch. You would use cooking to make the shots.
It would mean the combat skill would have an easier productive skill to work with it than Runecrafting.
Melee - mining and smithing (to smelt weaponry)
Range - crafting and fletching (to make arrows)
Magic - runecrafting and cooking (to create the means of making elemental energy)

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
I could still feature Wolf's Pet and make the reward set around Battle Island, which utilises familiar usage on a greater level.
Precursor charms as well, charms that can substitute the main charms, gold, green, crimson, blue and amethyst and ebony charms.
EDIT: What a stroke of luck! Battle Island can! It doesn't have to be combat related, but can benefit combat in the long term. Battle Island accomadates Summoning over conventional combat and it only contributes to combat only slightly (in the sense that people use familiars for supplies). With the right work, it can work very well.

And if it wins? It'd destroy all my work to make it anything other than the werewolves at this stage.

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
I wasn't getting angry, I was just saying that it by linking Wolf's Pet to another race would damage its purpose if it won. If I did win and it was with Arzonus then...
Expect to see a whole lot more from the series, Arzonus will be genuine!
I'm just working on The Pandoran Boxes, I've never felt more inspired!

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
Yay, I am glad you are now inspired to continue arzonus, but wait a little, you are saying that if they release one quest of arzonus they'll be bound by a domino effect to release hte other quests?

Re: JaGex: Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
It's something I could put forward. It'll give Arzonus some anchorage and hopefully might result in the potential for more quests.

It is where it all begins, from the moment you enter that gates to the moment Master Maelstrom gives you a formal invitation to the city.
