Mass Effect Empty Mass Effect

Post by The Empty Lord Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:07 am

So I'm halfway through the first Mass Effect for the first time (the second one was amazing, so I thought I'd catch up on the story). Love it! Definitely more compleximicated than the second, and it's a shame we don't have any real biotics. Sad

The Geth are awesome. Grin

Outside the confines of a game (where the player needs to be able to win, no matter how difficult), I reckon the Geth could be practically invulnerable. They are a hive mind - they share each units sight and thoughts. Thus, having two on any battlefield double each's efficiency - and this would increase exponentially with each additional unit. They would be able to calculate your movements and act with nearly perfect interception (they could perform calculations to track your path before you even have a chance to behave erratically). You would never be able to catch them off guard, because executing one will alert all others - if one sees you, they all see you. (within range, anyway)

I was just doing a level in Mass Effect 1 and it got me thinking... how did I manage to sneak up on them when I've just been killing their fellows. But this may have just been I was applying lore they added in the second game, or just because it's a game and it needs to be possible for me to win. Wink

It is most amazing. Smile

From the ME Wiki;
"Since leaving their homeworld and realising they could mate with any species, an attitude has developed among asari that mating with other races gives greater insight into that particular species. Therefore, mating with other races has become the preferred option, since it has an evolving effect on the resulting offspring, and therefore on the asari race itself. 'Pureblooded' asari on the other hand, who have two asari parents, are seen as wasteful by some because "nothing has been gained"."

I just love the scenario where purebloods are the frowned upon, rather than the bigots. Smile

Ooh, the Geth, a synthetic race, believe in god! Well, the "Heretics" are. They weren't programmed to, they came to the conclusion themselves. "It's only natural they would come to believe in a higher power". The "true geth" believe that they should build their own future, and a god implies to much predetermination.
