Just wondering if giving hunter the ability to make "potions" with the hunter skill that increases or decreases your effective combat level against monsters, for the purposes of aggression would be a good idea? Forgive me if this already exists.

The following potions make monsters unaggressive toward you:
• Weak Repellent - Increases your effective combat level by 20.
• Mild Repellent - Increases your effective combat level by 40.
• Strong Repellent - Increases your effective combat level by 80.

The following potions make monsters aggressive toward you:
• Weak Pheromones - Decreases your effective combat level by 20.
• Mild Pheromones - Decreases your effective combat level by 40.
• Potent Pheromones - Decreases your effective combat level by 80.

They would have no effect in PVP.

I like a lot. Think it needs to be part of a wider hunting revamp though.

I don't have any other ideas though. Wink

What ingrediants should be sourced from hunting? Which type of hunting creature is largely ignored/never used? Whatever they are: they sound perfect.

Dusk seems to have plenty of ideas on the subject, and I'm starting to think creating unique rewards for stuff is my specialty. Together, I think we'll have enough to do a full Hunter Revamp, if you're up for it.

Tatz's hunting with bows idea is lingering around somewhere, if anyone wants to dig that out.

I'll take a look when I'm not supposed to be revising.

I just wanted to throw the idea of an extra powerful, non-tradable species of chinchompa out there before I forget it.

Sounds like a plan. Although, don't people only really use those to grind ranged xp?

Regardless, they're still easily the most popular hunting reward ingame right now, by miles. Making a more powerful version is thus a guaranteed way of making hunter more rewarding.

And who knows, perhaps with more power, they'll find new niches?

I think unless their single target damage is sufficient to rival other ranged weapons, they won't be used in PVP. How many bosses have persistent multiple enemies? I don't go bossing much. Smile

I mean, yes, they will likely be used. But if they're anything like Overloads, there usage will be limited and immeasurable: likely more a reward for going to 99 than something people aim for.

Of course, one reward alone does not make a skill worth. But several rewards add up to the point where people deem it worthy, and I think these chinchompa will make a big contribution.

For those that are dedicated to ranged training and committed soul wars or castle wars players might be tempted to level up hunter for these.

I've always imagined chinchompa of some sort would be fun to have in Dungeoneering. Seeing as currently, hunter isn't very useful in the Daemonheim, adding, say, twisted chinchompa, could be another incentive to train hunter.
