First topic message reminder :

Thanks everyone! :]]

I have heard of kids in glass houses, not you me at six though although I did check them out. They seem a bit on the emo side but they're alright. ^^

I know right, and don't even get me started on powerpop... that's basically a rock band that normal people like. =/.

I don't really have a problem with the way things are done now simply because I understand it, but I agree that it doesn't make any sense. It's generally based on norms, like rock groups typically having guitars, bass, drums and a singer... innovation usually comes in waves and these waves get a new genre title slapped on like a sticker. The emo wave, the scene wave, etc. even if it's not based on their actual music.

According to my play count, my favourite bands are...
01) Panic! At The Disco - ROCK/EMO
02) You Me At Six - ROCK/ALTERNATE
03) 3OH!3 - CRUNK/SYNTHROCK
04) Kids In Glass Houses - ALTERNATE
05) Mayday Parade - ROCK/EMO
06) Fall Out Boy - ROCK/POP-PUNK/EMO
07) A Day To Remember - HARDCORE/POP-ROCK
08) The Used - ROCK
(1 song) Kelly Clarkson - POP
(1 song) Enrique Iglesias - POP
09) A Rocket To The Moon - POP-PUNK/POP-ROCK
10) Daughtry - ROCK

Yeah, I generally know what they mean. But I couldn't explain them. Tongue

How I usually see it...

Pop = Singer(s), less emphasis on the instruments.
Hip-hop = DJs, rapping, beatboxing. Pop with bass.
Rock = Guitar, Bass, Drums, Singer.
Hardcore = Guitar, Bass, Drums, Singer +Heavier Vocals
Metal = Guitar, Bass, Drums, Singer +Screamo
Punk = Rock with attitude/"tasteless" lyrics.
Emo = Rock with empathy, depressing lyrics and love songs.
Crunk = Fusion of hip-hop and rock/hardcore.
Alternate = Independent rock, sometimes "college rock".
Indie = UK-preferred term for Alternate.

Synth- = Uses artificial/edited sounds.
Pop- = Popular, e.g. Pop-Rock are popular rock bands.
Scene = "Relevant"

A Day To Remember are definitely a LOT better in the studio... I saw them at the Download Festival. They weren't that amazing. Although... A Rocket To The Moon's old stuff sucks, it's far too synth and not enough anything else.

Lol - my 1 songs are;
• Beautiful Disaster (live) - Kelly Clarkson
• Takin' Back My Love - Enrique Iglesias

They kinda got stuck in my head. Tongue

Zunes are cool... I really wanted one but they never really released over here. I settled for an iPod Touch. Grin

I like it when it's good live. Panic! At The Disco's Live In Chicago is at the top of my most listened to... the whole thing. But Brendie's an amazing singer. Wink

(Note: before you get the wrong impression, this is NOT the worst way I can think of to get rid of Justin Bieber) *Cuts him up into many, many pieces, and sends one piece to each and every one of his Goddamn fangirls*

Bieber is a hermaphrodite. I went with "Him" as it's generally assumed that there is no "e" at the end of "his" name.

I liked the Eanie Meanie song... but I thought he was a she. Tongue

Also, he's probably just pre-pubescent... when those balls drop (figuratively, since everyone knows that happens when you're very young) he's going to sound like a cat being strangled and everyone can forget he exists. Smile

I wish The Spill Canvas would release in the UK. I feel bad for not being able to spend money on them. Sad

FYI, just-- "acquired" the new The Spill Canvas album; Formalities. It's awesome. Pleased

She's not bad, "very fond" might be exaggerating somewhat. As far as an iconic artist of the decade, there could be worse. What of it?

(P.S. It has occurred to me that may have been an attempt to make a snide remark.)
