[P] The Forerunner
First topic message reminder :
I came across this image whilst browsing games and thought it'd be amazing if there were a couple of cities that have fallen into disarray, would provide excellent scenary and a different style of location for training.
Dark's "The Mouths of the Creators" refine clouds and transport the water via aqueducts. But yeah, discussion.
The Forerunner
Discussion on the Forerunner, the Creators, the Builders; those who existed before the Dwallow, whose disappearance is a mystery but whose remains is a way of life.

Re: [P] The Forerunner
"the ancient device"?
I don't know if a library suits current forerunner technology. They've constructed great magical devices yet they still keep their records on paper? That'd be like having all our computers, but no-one having ever invented a word processor.
I like the idea though, but that would open the prospect of knowing how the technology works. The current angle is that the dwallows don't understand forerunner technology, they just use it - it's only fortunate the dinomin keep it, or try to.
@Dark, are the dinomin social? Or do they appear completely ignorant to existence beyond their tasks, almost as if they are programmed solely to caretake.

Re: [P] The Forerunner
They are sort of halfway between a functional race and Golems...they can reproduce, interact, and whatever, but they are intensely devoted and it's burned into their brains to take care.

Re: [P] The Forerunner
library can also be with other documents, not only of paper and scrolls.. it could be of unkown technical tablets.. magic tablets that with the right equipments you can learn a bit..
we could skip documents of paper and papyrus but stay with some hightech tablets "the ancient device" the pump structure... the "water supply" main discussion

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Should the forerunner not have much presence in the north? Save for the drills. Perhaps because the mogrul allowed the rest to fall into disrepair, or perhaps they just never occupied those regions (perhaps the dragon were in greater populous, and it was dangerous in the north even then)?
Re: [P] The Forerunner
I would say limit ALL knowledge of the Forerunners, except for what they left behind. No text

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Or pictures, just their structures, and statues, but they're (Like blurred statues). We won't have to decide on name, shape, culture, reason why they left, 'cause it is entirely irrelevant

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Well, the reason they left isn't entirely irrelevant - since it could be a potential plot point. Not finding out, but it happening again.
Re: [P] The Forerunner

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Doesn't have to, just refer to the Alteran reference made on the first page .
Anyway if you need thoughts on how to make a civ appear genuinely abandoned, I'm your man.

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Baren was one of the few members of the Tiger colony who had ever left the village. He had traveled far and wide, he had seen the great temple-city of Alazos, where the Diminor faithfully kept up the greatest temple of the Forerunners, he had seen four of the other mouths. But he was a Diminor at heart.
Baren felt the sharp tug on the end of his line. He braced himself and began to reel in one of the huge birds. He pulled, and pulled, but what came over the edge was no ordinary bird. A large lumpy claw grasped at the brink, then a beast that looked like a piece of rotted and charred flesh slumped over the edge. Baren could see the wings and beak, this had once been a bird, but no more.
The hulking wreck dragged itself towards him, gleaming hook still protruding from it's mouth. "The agony! The Power! The tide is rising and we are here to meet it. Pain is fate." The beast shuddered and fell to the ground. As it struck a huge noise filled the air around Baren.
"What the bloody 'ell was that?" He said. He looked around, and then his eyes widened. The rod fell from his still hand. The bird slithered off and lept from the cliff. Baren kept staring. The Mouth was broken in twain. The flow of clouds had ceased...
Baren was a Diminor. He had to keep up the traditions of the forerunners. HE had to return to Alazos. The First Steward would have to call the village stewards to council. It was returning.

Re: [P] The Forerunner
I just googled "Forerunner" and this came up
- Spoiler:
- The Forerunners are a race created by the Monitors on Earth-48 (a.k.a. War World) to run their errands. The Forerunners are chosen at random whenever the Monitors have a job to be done.
Forerunner's real name is Viza Aziv.
So far the abilities showcased include super speed, super strength, and invulnerability. The Forerunners are all bread with a special protocol that prevents them from harming a Monitor.
Apparently, the Forerunner planet suffered something called the Nine Houses. It is unclear exactly how, but it seems that the Monitors saved the race from the threat, and formed a pact with the Forerunners. The Forerunner was the first recruit in Monarch's Monitor-destroying army. She did most of the leg work, recruiting key members to Monarch's cause, but when the battle royal of Countdown: Arena began, Monarch booted her from his team.
There are no male Forerunners, because Viza is the last left of her kind. This was explained in Countdown to Adventure #1. The monitors basically used them as an experiment to create the perfect fighting machines. Then they realized the Forerunners posed too great a threat, and annihilated them using Dark Angel and Shadow Demons.
Current Status: She and her crew helped save a baby planet from being destroyed. She used her blood to help the planet create anti-bodies to fight off the invasion. The planet is not Viza's and is using her genetic code to populate itself. We now have a Forerunner World #2, with Viza as the "thought mother"

idk, do we really ever know how the forerunners lookslike?

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Maybe the forerunners felt it was immoral to make likenesses of themselves...

Re: [P] The Forerunner
Perhaps the Mouths could just be defaced, worn by age. Myriads have passed since their construction.
