League of Legends

First topic message reminder :
League of Legends is a game in the DOTA/MOBA genre (Defence of the Ancients/Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). It really good... although, the community is a bit bi-polar (they're either really nice or the worst people you've ever had the displeasure of playing with).
The premise of the game is a cross between RPG (role playing game) and RTS (real time strategy). You have a base that you have to defend, and your enemies have a base you have to attack. Each base spawns minions/NPCs at regular intervals and you need to kill the enemy's to let your progress. Killing earns gold which you can buy items with.

Well, I officially have 5 LoL friends and we have formed a team! I'm the AP mid/top so I get to burst people in mid game. 
Unfortunately, the veteran of our group who introduced all of us to the game has called out my early game skillz, particularly my tendency to be sent back to the fountain due to harass when I try to farm. Any tips?

I need some example champions, or specific enemies you struggle against. League of Legends is about meta-knowledge: you need to know how much damage you do, you can take, they do, they can take, and how they play. So...

If they will counter you, try using your Q to farm.
Else, harass them with your Q or Q+W combo. You can also try and use the W passive too, for an instant stun.

Just get as much gold as you can, get a gank from the jungler, etc.

I'm not really a Kennen player. I play him AD sometimes.

Well, one thing is that Kennen is definently a mid. You need to be able to use his abilities to land your hits on the enemies constantly. Since Kennen is a skill shot, it makes life a lot harder for you, so you need to time and aim your shots well, with the shurikens.
If you fall behind, let them opponent push to tower. From there, you can be a lot more effective, since they can't do too much to you, without going at a severe disadvantage early-game.
On another note, I'm now level 19, and I now mainly play Kayle, Fiora, Lulu, and Zilean My tastes seem to be AD/AS Champs and AP champs, lol

I always destory Kennen tops, be it Lulu, Fiora, Kayle, or Zilean. Not sure why, but I rarely have problems with him.

We need to get close to do the most damage, all of those people make that hard/painful. Fiora on the other hand should be weak to Kennen due to W harass.

Because those are the champions you're playing against him top.
Fiora is the only of those champions you will see top, and even then rarely, when you get up to 30.

Fiora's only role is a top AD Carry, but she does it so well, I can't complain anyway

Okay. So I just started playing this game and it seems rather fun but...time to RANT.
You boys are fucking idiots. Total fucking idiots. I first noticed it when someone on my team disconnected. Really? You make their champion sit on the summoner's platform unmoving...what the fuck? What the actual fuck? If they disconnect, they should suck it up, and you can use your perfectly competent AI to fill in the gaps. But no, you just ruin entire games because you couldn't be arsed to just make AI take the reins the first time someone disconnects.
And then, you spout bullshit about how if someone leaves they are the ones ruining the game for everyone else, and ban people. Hey guess what sherlock? You could fix this. Oh, and apparently I'm not allowed to go into my account and spectate on matches because I got suspended...really?

Also, I would rather have an AFK than the current grade of bots any day. I've won 4v5s... but bots are uncontrollable.
Apparently most people play co-op, 3v3 or Dominion until they get to a sufficient level that everyone they're playing with cares enough to stick to the end. The issue is a lot of genuinely new players don't really understand or care just how vital a complete team is... it's actually quite rare for games to require teams like this. It'd be like in football if the key player says "sorry, mum's calling" and leaves... because in any other computer game it doesn't matter.

It's not a matter of caring. I simply don't have the type of life where I can ever guarantee that I have more than 20 minutes of gaming time. I have hours often enough that this is a fantastic addition to my gaming portfolio, but I simply am unable to guarantee that I won't called away.

Play Dominion? Games never last longer than 20 minutes, and in my opinion Dominion represents the best aspects of Summoner's Rift (constant skirmishes).

This game is also a quite interesting spectator sport...especially if you're watching a commentated tournament game on youtube.

Agreed. Never been a fan of spectating (games or otherwise): but League of Legends is actually fun.
