The Althakaron Quests

Basic Premise: In Taverley dungeon, sandwiched between lesser demons and poison scorpions, on an island within a pool of lava, a small group of chaos dwarves has set up camp, all of this was rather mysterious until one day a ladder appeared in the midst of their encampment. The plans of the chaos dwarves are vast and grand and will not be complete until the City of Althakaron is as well…

This series starts out with experienced quests and makes its way up to grandmaster, following the exploits of the Chaos Dwarves as they attempt to build a city…

A Note On Gameplay: The ladder will take you to different versions of the cavern throughout the quests, these should be separate from each other but should not be unique from the caverns visited by other players.

Version 1: This is how it looks until end of first quest: It’s a rough camp with a barge to other side

Version 2: The engineer has a large building, there are many unfinished buildings, and there are unfinished cart tracks going all around and through the city. This is how it looks during second quest.

Version 3: The rails are finished (these go all throughout and large machines of various types go through them) the buildings are finished and as you work on the third quest it will become more and more populated. This is the final Version

Cavern Description, at the north end of the cavern is a ladder going down the wall, the east side of the cavern is completely taken up by a lava lake. Themain portion of the cavern is on a separate floor from the shore of the lake, this is roughly one normal floor height down, and you have to go down some stairs to reach it. This area is filled with warehouses, the engineer’s blast furnace/the smithy and in one llocation there is a massive pier where lava mages are working under the direction of Jekinn after the appropriate portion of the third quest…

Althakaron Quest #1 – Preparing the Cavern

Basic Premise: Due to the fact that the chaos dwarves’ cavern is located within Taverley Dungeon they need to clear some monsters out of the cavern. They also need you to help them by bringing them certain supplies.

Reqs: Dwarf Cannon, Another Slice of H.A.M., Heroes Quest, 40 Agility, 55 mining, 50 smithing/construction

Start: To begin this quest, go down the ladder in the dungeon while wearing an item of Zamorak (If you aren’t you will find the dwarves in the cavern are aggressive and their leader won’t speak to you). If you are then the following will result.

Thakar: Hail! Servant of Zamorak! What brings you to our city?
Player: …
Thakar: What?
Player: Well…Erm…This isn’t much of a city.
Thakar: About that…
Player: …
Player: What?
Thakar: I was Wondering if you could help us.
1) Sure! I have nothing better to do. (starts quest)
2) Can’t right now, sorry. (Ends conversation)
3) DIE ZAMORAKIAN SCUM!!! (Thakar’s bodyguards (lvl 150) will attack you)
Thakar: Okay… speak to Kharzag the engineer, Foreman Horek, Quartermaster Hidgaz, and Captain Fifnir.

Kharzag: Kharzag will need you to steal schematics from various dwarven engineers around Runescape: Train Schematics (Dorgesh-Kaan station, old engineer), Blast Furnace Schematics (Blast Furnace Foreman), Cannon Schematics (Ice mountain camp).
He also needs you to bring him 100 steel bars (noted or unnoted) & 50 coal. Upon returning you will find a group of dwarves camped around the entrance to Taverley Dungeon who you must slaughter.

Horek: Horek is located across the lava lake on the eastern side of the cavern. To get there ask the barge captain for a ride across the lake. He will tell you that their was a recent cave-in. Although some dark mages have placed enchantments to prevent a reoccurrence he needs you to clear the path of the railway for the ore carts, and repair the railway and unloading system. He also needs you clear the tunnels into some of the mining rooms, and add 40 steel or better picks to their supplies chest. Clearing the tunnels and the path requires 55 mining and a rune pickaxe, repairing the railway requires 50 smithing/construction, and rail segments from the supply box. Repairing the loading Mechanism requires 50 construction & 15 oak planks.

Hidgaz: Hidgaz needs 15 oily fishing rods. This should be simple busy work. He needs you to carry an order for him to the sawmill operator. Finally he needs you to climg onto the roof of the barracks and patch a hole using 10 tiles. To get onto the roof you need 40 agility.

Captain Fifnir: He needs you to clear out three caves full of beast around the cavern. One has blue dragons, baby blues, and a level 135 brood mother. The second has poison scorpions, poison spiders, a King Poison Scorpion (96-poisons for 15), and a massive poison spider (106- poisons for 15). The third holds lesser, greater, and black demons.

QUEST COMPLETE!

Rewards: Althakaron Cavern access, Can buy chaos dwarf Armour from
Fifnir (adamant with +3 to strength for each piece and -4 to prayer for each piece). 3 lamps granting 5k xp

Althakaron Quest #2 – Building A City

Reqs: The Feud, Preparing the Cavern, 50 Ranged/Agility/Strength, 55 Construction, 63 Prayer, 54 thieving.

To start this quest talk to Thakar once more

Thakar: Ah you again…Hello
You: Hello Thakar
Thakar: I need some help.
You: *mutters* Of course you do *mutters*
Thakar: Could you speak to Foreman Horek, he’s currently in the city supervising the contruction.
You: Sure!

When you speak to Horek he will say that he needs you to do several things, He needs you to ask the engineer for the schematics for the automated crane he ordered a wile ago, he needs you to speak to Foreman Aldak and help him out, and he needs you to help the miners make their quota by mining 150 limestone bricks.

Kharzag: Kharzag will say that he won’t do it until the rails into his building are complete. You will need to do this. He will then say that he will give you the schematics if you get him 10 limestone blocks to run some engineering tests on. Finally he will ask you to set up 4 cannons at the defensive points on the city. This may seem easy until you find out where they are… 4 ledges high above the city, one near the entrance ladder which runs down the north wall, and the other 3 pointed at the entrances to the beast warrens. All of then will require you to tie rope to a protrusion so that the dwarves can access it. The first ledge requires 50 ranged, Agility and Strength to grapple to. The second will require you to run through the warren of blue dragons (they’re back) and at the very end you’ll be on a ledge, you must collapse the tunnel. The next one is on a High ledge with a boulder on it, You must cast earth Blast on the boulder which will fall and create a pathway for you to jump up. The final ledge is a simple agility climb but a strange holy being who use range and mage is located on the ledge and must be killed using mage or range. Finally he will give you the schematics.

Limestone: This is simple, just mine 150 pieces and every time you’re full just put them in the cart which will take them to barge which will take them to city.

Aldak: Foreman Aldak needs your help blasting out some extra rooms in the cavern walls, for this you will need explosives made either in the regicide manner or the Digsite manner, mine a small tunnel, blast open the room, then mine out the rubble, you need to do this about twenty times.

Return to Tharak. He will tell you that he needs you to perform a in order to bless the altar they have set up. He will give you an assistant to help you capture the necessary monk. He will also give you a sacrificial knife. You must go to the monastery and lure + knockout a monk, the assistant will stuff him a sack and you can go back to Althakaron, on the way back a white knight will appear and try to ask you some questions…kill him.
When you have gotten back your assistant will tie him to the altar, your character will raise the knife and quickly stab him.

Upon returning to Tharak a scout will run into the room.
Scout: The Black Guard has found us
Tharak: What can we do…all this work for nothing!
You: Let me handle this
You must now kill ten black guards and a black guard captain.

QUEST COMPLETE!

Rewards: 3 10k xp lamps, 20k smithing, Sacrificial Knife. Full Access to Althakaron however certain NPC’s aren’t there yet.

The Sacrificial Knife has a special attack called Offering, it deals up to 50% more damge but the knife is weak, if it is the killing blow then you will be given a decent amount of prayer and a random skill boost…

Althakaron Quest #3 – Gathering the Chaos Dwarves

Basic Premise: Various Chaos dwarves are spread out all over runescape, can you find them so that Althakaron can be complete…

Reqs: Building a City, The Legends Quest. Cabin Fever, 60 Mage, 60 Mining, 67 agility, 60 firemaking.

Talk to Thakar, he will give you a list of Dwarves to track down.

Bendrios the Dark Mage: Dark Wizards tower.
Jekinn the Lava Mage: Tzhaar city, you must convince the Tzhaar from Tztok-Ket-Dil to teach him how to mine obsidian and fireproof planks
Bordrios the Dark Mage: Mage Arena, praying to Zamorak Statue
Helvork the Brewer: Trouble Brewing
The Wandering Monks of Chaos: can be found at Ourania Chaos Altar, Wildy Chaos altar, or Varrock Chaos Altar.
Himbrin the smith: Can be found talking to the blind priest in Camdozaal hall.
Keltikaar, High Priest: He is found by the flames of Zamorak in the underground pass.
Mariki the Witch: Wants you to guide her to Kardia by picking her up and carrying her over each agility obstacle on the bridges (67 Wink Agility, 65 Strength)
Borin the miner: Blurite Mine, needs your help filling seven sacks with 20 blurite ore each
Feltek the Mighty: Past Several Mithril Dragons in ancient cavern
Zorin the Dreadful: At the far end of Steel Dragon room in Brimhaven Dungeon
Pardek the Insane: Can be found in KBD cave, KQ lair, or DK’s lair
Baardul the Chaos Druid: can be found conversing with Salarin the Twisted.
Mondeku the summoner: Switches between brimhaven, desert, and Gu’Tanoth obelisks. Needs 5 of each charm
Morbidius the pyromaniac: Ignatius Volcan, he needs you to light yew fires in every square within 2 squares of him. (total of 24 yew fires)
Kiimi the stylist: can be found in any of the change your look locations except the one in Keldagrim. Needs 5 perfect orginal furs from a Kyatt (can’t be traded)
General Gorkan: Found at chaos dwarf encampment where the entrana dungeon door teleports to. He needs you to redirect the magic of the entrana door because he’s paranoid that it could cause a sneak attack. This requires that you have a portal room with a centerpiece as well as 60 mage and 100 law runes.
Spymaster Zogan: Needs you to mine out caverns in the following places; Mountains through which Shantay pass goes, under the house where you start Waterfall quest, and near Crandor entrance to Elvarg’s lair. Each of these mysteriously has a lava cannel in it with a cave on both ends…

Return to Thakar and you will see a cutscene of him being Coronated

Rewards: All NPC’s and shops are there, Can buy elite Chaos Dwarf from Gorkan, it’s like rune except with bonuses described before, looks like gold trimmed chaos dwarf. Access to lava barge which can transport you to all the hideout’s + if you talk to Zorkan after he will list several more locations you can hollow out.

Althakaron Quest #4 – Into the Depths

Basic Premise: Jekinn has discovered a strange anomaly deep beneath the lava. And he wants you to investigate, which might be harder than you think…the second arc of the Althakaron Quests begins now…

Jekinn: Well if it isn’t the Jalyt I wanted to see!
P: You’ve spent too much time with the Tzhaar.
J: Well thanks to your race, it’s that or a muddy camp in the wilderness.
P: I have nothing to do with that…
J: But your father did…
P: Father? I have a Father?
J: Oh right, you’re an adventurer…you don’t have parents.
P: You wanted to see me?
J: Oh right. The hypercomplex of molten ferrous material is slightly warped in the abyssal layer…
P: …
J: …
P: …
J: You Jalyts…so ignorant. There is an anomaly in the deepest part of the lake, I want you to investigate.
P: I don’t walk, breathe, or live in lava so…
J: You’ll need to make armour obviously you idiot.
P: Out of what?
J: Something you can control mentally that gives elemental protection. And you should make four helper golems out of the same material
