Pentagram Project
First topic message reminder :
"Between the rune altars flows energy, huge amount of energy. They're comparable to ocean currents in size and power. Sadly, we can only harness a tiny fraction of the power. Even where two or three currents cross, the amount of energy is simply not worth the work. But yes... If some kind of nexus existed, where several flows crossed in one single point... Imagine the possibilities!"
The idea is kinda farfetched, and if you haven't seen the pentagram picture you should do it. The basic idea is kinda stolen from Full Metal Alchemist. The alchemists who built the tower of life, are only parts of a much greater plot. Four more 'towers' has to be built. Built above sealed rune altars, to open them, and their all important energy currents.
In the nexus, the point where all five currents cross, just North of Ardougne either above ground, or below in some dungeon connected to the Chaos Druid Tower. Something undefined is going to happen when the seal on all the altars has been removed.
Us unknowingly playing Creature Creation in the basement of the Tower of Life, has drained on the mystic powers of the seal; and the altar itself, and now all there is left for us to do, is to remove it and unlock the first part of the devious pentagram, before another tower is to be constructed.
Also, who are these mysterious Illuminati-like "Alchemists' Council", and what is their purpose? Also, the zamorakians have already discovered another altar, but they don't know what it is, they think it is simply broken.
So... This is quite massive, but what do you think?

Re: Pentagram Project
Anyway... Idea for starting new quest series is as follows:
Play some Creature Creation, lightning light energy, new altar is revealed. Stupid fail Homunculus dies in battle against guardians/is absorbed/is just killed. Weird intriguing cutscene. Someone from the Philosopher's League (New name appreciated) threatens us to help, we refuse, they kill innocent, we agree.
Build new tower somehow...

Re: Pentagram Project
I imagine we'd enter the Ourania at some point, since an external tower cannot be created or something
What's inside the altars?

Re: Pentagram Project
@Morbie: It wasn't you.
@Ruy: Well, those two have nothing beyond them. They are the altar that would usually be beyond. Other altars lead to pocket dimensions, the altars within them don't go anywhere. Or, so far as we know they don't. It could just be a infinite loop.

Re: Pentagram Project
Well, then I'll have to tinker a little with the Ourania lore, and since it's so lacking, it won't be that hard
Assuming we used a talisman on the Ourania altar, what kind of place would we appear? I have a picture of it, but I would like some more ideas

Re: Pentagram Project
You said it's broken. Well if it's broken, the world is probably being ripped apart. If it's spitting out all sort of runes then possible it's an Abyss in itself - a super-highway within the matrix and it doesn't actually have a specific, single interior.
Re: Pentagram Project
maybe that might be the case! o.O
But I think I discovered an interesting connection between this and the Mythics' Quest!
While I was looking about articles in Wikipedia about Greek Mythology, and about the Garden of Hesperides, well, I came across the Apple of Discord. Read the quote... It it explains my point and its relation to Discordianism.
"
The Sacred Chao is a symbol used by Discordians to illustrate the interrelatedness of order and disorder. It resembles a Yin-Yang symbol, but according to the Principia Discordia:
The Sacred Chao is not the Yin-Yang of the Taoists. It is the Hodge-Podge of the Erisians. And, instead of a Podge spot on the Hodge side, it has a pentagon which symbolizes the Aneristic Principle, and instead of a Hodge spot on the Podge side, it depicts the Golden Apple of Discordia to symbolize the Eristic Principle.
The Sacred Chao symbolizes absolutely everything anyone need ever know about absolutely anything, and more! It even symbolizes everything not worth knowing, depicted by the empty space surrounding the Hodge-Podge.
—Malaclypse the Younger, Principia Discordia, Page 00049
The choice of the pentagon as a symbol of the Aneristic Principle is partly related to The Pentagon in Virginia near Washington, D.C., partly a nod to the Law of Fives, partially for the Golden Ratio references associated with the pentagon/apple allegory, and wholly for the five-sided pentagon from the "Starbuck's Pebbles" story in the Discordia. The Golden Apple of Discordia is the one from the story of The Original Snub (below).
"
"Tho Original Snub" they mention involves the story of the Judgement of Paris in Greek Mythology, and the events that happened before it.
Now, with that taken in mind... possibly find to blend this into Mythics' Quest? I have something very cool in mind and it involves trickery, chaos, and amazingness!
Where the Apples of Joy have been tainted by the Apples of Discord invading the property somehow. Now, what is behind this are a few discordian cultists have sent a hex on the garden. This hex is can only be destroyed by this massive pentagram they've set up made up of pure magic at each of the five points. This hex can only be destroyed if its opposite-order- is added, causing a clash of opposite energies and destroying the chain, however, they must be cast at once or else the other points will regenerate a new one. Now, once you destroy the hex, you have to go back to the garden and trick the nymphs into letting you into the garden. They still won't let you in, and you have to pick the key from their pockets. In the garden, it will be a similar puzzle like in Sorcerer's Garden, but more challenging and violent, and you have to dodge them on the way back out. You cannot fight these nymphs, as they will kill you almost instantly, but you have to do so anyway so that you can leave the garden. Hm? Sound confusing, eh? Not really. If you were smart enough to save some Seeds of Discord you received from killing one of the cultists, you could plant some and cause the garden to die (you could still get some if you eat and Apple for the seed, and get hurt very badly). Once the garden dies (your apple won't of course), the nymphs will too, and the garden will disappear, however, your apple will not. Now you can return it to the statue in the Mythics' Guild!
Lol... That is what I thought, I know I have a crazy mind, but hey, it works!

Re: Pentagram Project
I'm not sure if that has anything to do with Ruy's quest, but the rest of it sounds interesting. Write it against with less ands and yous, and on the Mythics' quest. We need to revive that.

alrighty; I'll get to it asap. The idea which I told you all just just a rough sketch. I'll make more detailed and coherent on the Mythics' Quest thread...

Re: Pentagram Project
I'm not familiar with any of this anymore. I can probably get away with just saying that by doing something at all five sites probably would ressurect a collective larger than any seen before and would doom the world. Or maybe it is put in place to make you think something big is going to happen when it could simply be a practical joke from Arzonus or something.

Re: Pentagram Project
I imagine something would happen, the entire idea is to 'unlock' the currents of energy flowing between all rune altars. We already have a lot of rune altars, but the catch with these five altars, is their position. They are in a perfect pentagon, thus the currents cross in one points, where the energy is many times the power anywhere else.
