Collective Story Empty Collective Story

Post by The Empty Lord Tue Jul 27, 2010 5:38 am

It was frightfully cold: so cold that cold itself was shivering under a blanket with a hot water bottle; and it was frozen. Snow was falling carelessly from the sky; dancing wickedly in Jack's frosty breath. It had been snowing endlessly all night and Falador was beginning to look like a squared wedding cake, with little model guards standing atop the marzipan floor.

Crunch. It was that snow-under-foot crunch that you could only really appreciate if you knew what it sounds like. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Step after step after step. The burning cold stabbed at his fingers and toes, snotcicles hanging from each nostril. Sodding alchemist, Callum cursed to himself: discarding a half finished warming tonic in the snow. It promptly sank out of sight leave behind a small puddle of water— a sheet of ice— nothing, it left no evidence of existing at all.

Callum pulled the coat closer around him in a futile attempt to protect himself from the howling wind. "Warm as sitting home with a blanket and drinking a lovely cup of tea," indeed; sodding alchemist, Callum muttered.

A silhouette started to distinguish itself from the shadows. It stared at Callum from just outside the circle of light cast from a nearby lamppost. Well, it's hard to tell where darkness is looking, but the hairs on the back of Callum's neck were standing on end. The wind picked up and the light flickered out, attracting a nearby guard who'd seemingly drew the short straw for light duty. The light flickered back into life just as the wind gailed hoarsely.

Callum hesitated for a moment; the wind toying with his scarf.

The snow parted slightly, like a pair of netted curtains, and through it Callum could see that the stranger had changed his mind and was running as fast as his worn slouch boots, that might've been stylish a couple of years ago, could carry him. The wind had picked up, and sent fierce lashes of snow against the white walls of the city.

[goes along with something]

Huddling even deeper into his coat, Callum trudged over to the circle of light. He saw the light glint of something hidden beneath a light coat of flakes. He could tell that whatever it was had been placed there recently. Dusting it off he found a small wooden chest, reinforced with steel. Callum chuckled to himself. "Well I'll be damned" he muttered. That sodding alchemist actually was right about the drop-off. I wish I knew what was in this box.

Callum looked around and reassured himself that there was no one watching him. Pulling up his hood, and wrapping his scarf around his face, he hoisted the box under his arm and set off towards the north gate. Unbeknownst to Callum he was in fact being followed by a pair of squires and a knight sent by Sir Amik Varze himself.

As he passed the ancient statue of Saradomin north of Falador, he offered a silent prayer. At that moment, as if Saradomin wished to play a cruel jest, the storm intesified. Callum trekked onwards. Sodding alchemist!

As Callum reached the top of the old stairs onto the Ice Mountain Plateau, he suddenly turned off the road into the deep woods. Before long he found the campfire of the thieves who made their foul living by mugging the less experienced adventurers traveling northeast from Falador. Between the blinding snow and howling winds, they didn't see him until he was a mere meter from their fire. In fact, even when they noticed him, he evinced almost no response. A heavily bearded man in a dark cloak across the fire from Callum stood up. He took the chest out of Callum's hands and in return handed him a letter and a small sack. The bearded man then set off northwards towards the old graveyard.

-----------------------------------

At the top of the steps the knight paused. One of the squires stood beside him, teeth chattering. The other crouched down. His eyes looked up with growing surprise as he saw that Callum's tracks went off into the deep woods. Suddenly both him and the knight realized their companion's teeth had stopped chattering. Glancing at him they saw a hunting bolt jutting through his neck. The squire looked on helplessly as a dark shape lunged up the stair and a jarring blow knocked the knight to the ground.

Another figure came up the stairs more slowly. "Restrain the knight," said the man, his voice muffled by a scarf. "We need him." He then raised his crossbow and shot the second squire in the heart.

Suddenly overwhelmed, Callum fondled with the sack and pushed it between his knees. Hands free, he took the envelope primly and pried at the waxy seal. The page was blank, empty, devoid of content. Callum held it against the light, in the hope that the paper would reveal some hidden mystery. It didn't.

The rebeldes were watching him, not sure what to make of the situation. One's was staring intently at the sack, with an expression like he really wanted to steal it - but decided better of it.

Callum sighed and stowed the page in one of his inside pockets. Lacing the sack to his belt, he went to teleport stone - feeling it was the least awkward and safest way to exit the group of criminals - but stopped when he spied a white rabbit, almost inivisble against the snow and amidst the sleet.

The tiny rabbit cocked it's head to one side and looked at Callum. Nimbly leaping at him it grabbed the sack. He heard a little cackle and as he looked up he saw an essence impling pull off the rabbit carcass it had been wearing. Callum suddenly realized that the impling had some sort of collar on. Leaping at the small imp he tried to grab it. He managed to catch it between his fingers and retrieve the page.

As he released the impling he felt a surge of heat, the impling appeared to have been incinerated by a small fireball emanating from it's collar. The collar fell to the ground and melted away a small patch of snow. He reached down and grabbed the bracelet. As soon as he touched it, glowing text emerged from the blank paper. The message was simple:

Dear Callum,

It appears that the hunter has distracted you. I would advise that you look for the sack.

-The Alchemist

Turning around Callum saw a ninja impling swoop down and grab the bag. The tiny beast flew off at top speed almost directly southeast. Callum chased after it, stumbling through the blinding snow. He could sense that it was taunting him. Whenever he lost sight of it, he simply had to stumble a little farther to find it waiting with a fiendish grin.

The impling eventually led him to the ancient rocks north of falador. He saw the impling crouch next to a lump of something, place the bag on top of it and then hurl itself out of sight.

As Callum approached the lump he felt horror growing within him. Looking down he saw the corpses of two squires, their cause of death clear. Bolts through the neck and heart. Clutched to the chest of the one with the bolt through his neck was a scroll. Callum carefully removed the scroll from his frozen fingers and read.

Sir Vayer,

You have orders to follow the adventure Callum. I have reason to believe he is colluding with an enemy of the state known as the "Alchemist." The Alchemist is using him in a plot against another enemy of the state known merely as "the Hunter" They are believed to have ties to the Varrock underground. Follow and report, please try to retrieve actionable intelligence on both of the aformentioned enemies of state.

You will be accompanied by Squires Taen and Plous.

(First of all, 2 things: I'll probably suck at this, so... And Sir Vayer, excellent choice ^^)

Callum could not help but grieve over the lives that had been lost. Even so, he noticed that there were 2 Squire escorts mentioned in the letter, whom both laid dead before his feet. Where was Sir Vayer?
Sodding Alchemist he thought yet again. Sodding Hunter he thought in addition. Why does stuff like this always happen to me? It's just like that one time in Yanille, with those cows... I have to get out of here, before someone finds me. They might think I am the murderer. It was at that very moment that he noticed a pair of footprints in the snow. That's strange... They came from the other direction. Perhaps it's the survivor! He followed the path, which eventually led him to a cave. It looked gloomy, devoid of life. Hello? Is anyone in here? he shouted. No answer. He broke off a large branch from a nearby tree, wrapped his shirt around it and made a fire. Finally, he lit the crude torch and descended into the cave. I was what he saw there, that would change his life forever...

In the cave, he found a magnificent ice sculpture of what seemed to be perfectly carved- every detail is shown of the figure, it just seemed... too real.

Callum, quietly approached the statue and examined it more closely. It seemed to turn into very dark bruised-violet color at the core. Callum, then put his torch up against the statue, and melted the face off of the statue.

After the ice melted away, encased in the icy tomb, was a body of a very prominent looking-man, muck like Sir Amik, but not exactly like him. His face was no like no other- it was a bruise-violet color with red gashes across its face, and it has no jaw as if it were ripped straight out.

Callum feeling a sense of great fear and and curiosity, melted the statue more to reveal the rest of his body in the general condition. Callum carefully picked up the poor man's body and tried to carry him home, but about midway, he ran into this shady man. He was dressed in completley blue robes, and had his face entirely hidden. He warned Callum of the immediate danger of taking the man back into Falador, since the Alchemist will know that you have taken their ransom to the White Knights- Sir Vayer.

The man went on to say that Callum must go to Port Sarim, where he will help him smuggle Sir Vayer back into the White City.

(makes no sense XD)

Callum shrugged, for some idiotic reason he had used his shirt for torch, and now the snow-bees had returned to harass him. He shrugged again, he had completely lost track of this adventurous winter night, Hunter, Alchemist, White Knight, it was all blurred. He hid Sir Vayer's body in a pile of snow near the wall. When he was sure that the dead knight was resting snuggly beneath his white blanket, Callum snuck un-noticed back into the city. The braziers the guards used to keep them warm, provided too much light, and made them unable to see through the darkness of the night.

Callum entered the inn, the smell of stew greeted him in the door, it was soon followed by a cheerful young lady wearing an apron. Just as she was about to lead him to his table, someone yelled, presumably the inn owner, "Fenny, two wizard's mind bomb, quick!" she turned away from Callum and shouted back "It's Fenchurch, not THAT hard to say!" she shrugged, smirked at Callum and hurried back into the crowded tap room.

Callum's stomach growled, and so did his boot. Surprised he watched as a small impling, with a cute little purple vest, climbed out of his boot. There was no telling how long it had been there, but it appeared harmless, so he picked it up. It creditted him by sinking its teeth in his finger, Callum shook his hand violently trying to get the little bugger off, but it didn't let go of his finger.

The waitress returned, her hair was a mess, and her cheeks were blushing from the heat in the tap room. "I would like..." Callum begun, but was interrrupted by Fenny "...A glass of frothy beer, a nice solid meal, a warm soft bed" she turned around and began looking for a table, "...and a good bit of cheering up" she added without looking back at him. Callum followed, struggling impling firmly caught in his left hand. "It's Fenchurch by the way" she added, after Callum had settled at his table in the middle of the bustling tap room.

Callum shrugged, he would deal with the dead knight and all the other stuff in the morning. You couldn't do adventuring all the time, especially not around the three major meals of the day...

[what the hell?]

As Callum enjoyed his meal he pondered the odd events of the day. That sodding alchemist! His thoughts were interrupted when the door of the inn slammed open, letting in a gust of cold air and a swirl of snow. The huge man that entered the bar was followed by another, smaller man, both were bundled up completely, but Callum could tell that there was bulky armour underneath the cloth. The smaller man pulled off the cloth obscuring his face.

The men and women in the bar gasped. A stunned "My Lord Varze" fell from their lips.

Varze looked up, fire in his eyes. "Sir Lee! You are to take the adventurer Callum under arrest." Sir Lee stalked across the bar-room. His huge mass scattered the furniture in his wake. Callum stood up as he approached. The gigantic man grasped his throat roughly and twirled him around like a top. With his other hand he formed a massive grip around Callum's hands, almost like handcuffs. "Good night citizens," Varze said cheerfully.

A few minutes later, Callum found himself in a cell in the upper levels of the White Knight castle. Varze stood outside the cell, reclining quite ominously on one of the torture devices. "What have you done Callum! I hoped you were salvageable. You saved my life for Saradomin's sake! But no. You have to do this? We set that man to follow you, and he winds up dead in snowdrift by the wall?"

"I have no idea what you me--"

"Spare me the theatrics. You will meet the interrogator in the morning."

---------------------------------

A few hours later Callum was woken by a thud outside the door of the Interrogation room, a grunt and then another, different thud that ended with the same thud he had heard before. He heard someone fiddling with the locking mechanism of the door. This was quickly followed by a few curses.

Callum felt a wriggling in his boot and the tiny impling crawled out. The miniscule creature was pulling a large key. It slipped between the bars of the cell and opened the door from the inside. Three men flooded into the room. Johnathon, the nobleman's son, looked around. He chuckled as he saw the little impling, who promptly buried itself in one of Johnathon's pockets.

The other two were a pair of thugs, One carried a distinctive crossbow and had a phoenix tattooed on his arm. The other carried a wicked blackjack that had fresh blood on it. This man had a black band tattoed around his forearm.

Taking the key the impling had given him, Johnathon unlocked the cell and let out Callum. Johnathon handed him a teleport tablet and told him firmly to use it. Calluum found himself in an unfamiliar room. The thugs and Jonathan arrived on the wings of magic a few seconds later.

Callum looked around in the room, which he would later find out was in fact the basement of the Blue Moon Inn. There were several people in the room with him, but he didn't get to identify any of them before the entire room started spinning and blurring, before everything turned all black.

"PTS, or Post-Teleporting Syndrom often affects people who aren't used to teleporting, or people who use low-quality teleports. Both were the case with Callum, who simply couldn't handle being pulled hazardously through the Abyss. Known symptoms are: Blackout, dizziness, inflated stomach, sudden hair-colour changes, hallucinations, a sudden urge to eat herrings. "

A door slammed somewhere, "Did you get him out? The whole city is swarming with knights", Callum turned his head to look at the newcomer, "Fenny?", there was a loud cracking sound and Callum felt his teeth getting re-arranged, which only made his headache worse. "Fenchurch, it's not that hard", she sat down at the table in the middle of the room, around it several people were already seated.

"I suppose it's time for some answers" Straven said, and looked just about to say some more, but was interrupted by Katrine "How much do you know?" she said and looked at Callum, who at this point was slightly confused. "You two, together?", "Well ya, it's easier when the guards are choosing two gangs instead of one" Straven said and shrugged. "You work for them?" Callum turned to Fenchurch, "More like an affiliate" she said and changed the subject "How much did the Alchemist tell you?"

The conversation was interrupted by loud voices from the other room, "Jeez, I tell you, that Hunter guy is a not human, he's a beast. He will rip us all to pieces.", someone slammed a glass or a mug in the table "Shaddap Dawg, sure he is human, what else should he be? The question is why would he join forces with the White Knights?", "Did you not see the Barbarian Incident?". The conversation silenced...

Callum looked anxiously at Straven and Katrine, "Have you got any herrings?"...

After consuming a few herring, Callum felt much better. He began to speak. "The Alchemist didn't tell me much of anything. He found my yesterday, down in the bar in Port Sarim. He told me his name "The alchemist". Although I guess in this case it would be a pseudonym." After taking another bite of herring, Callum continued his story."He told me that he had a simple job for me. You know how we adventurers operate. We do favors for people, the rewards pay the bills when we haven't found anything of value lodged in monstrous innards for a while."

Straven glared at Callum, "Cut to the chase, we know how you damn goody two-shoes adventurers work"

Katrine gave Straven an exasperated look, "Let him talk."

"Anyway...He told me that all I needed to do for my reward was to locate one of his contacts near a certain house in East falador. The contact wouldn't actually speak to me, but when i saw him, he would leave a package for me to deliver to the thieves north of Falador. Another contact would be waiting there to get the package, he would also have my reward."

Straven chuckled, Katrin sighed, and Fenchurch simply looked mildly amused. Fenchurch spoke, "That man by the lamppost--that was me. I'm a deep cover mole for the Alchemist. He wanted to be the first to set up a base in Falador. It's always been the golden goal of the underworld. Rich people with a wall and knights that give them a false sense of security."

"A base of operations?" Callum inquired.

"The Hunter and the Alchemist are rivals in business. They share a seemingly simple yet extraordinarily lucrative offering. They help set up and network gangs. You think the Phoenix and Black Arms have a rivalry. You should see the wars that the Hunter's gangs wage against the Alchemist's."

Straven and Katrine nodded knowingly. Katrine answered the obvious question. "Both the Black Arm and Phoenix gangs are arms of the Alchemist's criminal empire."

Straven cleared his throat, "unfortunately for you, dear Callum, the Alchemist still requires your assistance. The Hunter is on the move again."

Fenchurch smiled deviously, "But at least you get this for helping us set up the newest and only gang in Falador. The Bloody Magpies." She tossed him a sack, he opened it and found bank-notes that he could exchange for several gold bars, and a nice stack of gold coins.

Callum picked a small bone from between his teeth. Something occurred to him... a little voice in the back of his mind that he couldn't quite make out. Then it hit him. BLURGH! Swinging the fish like a limp-- fish, it sawed across the air. He burst out; "I HATE HERRING!" as the fillet caught Fenny across the face.

Suddenly aware of his outburst, he sat down quietly and tried to hide the reddening he could feel crawl across his face. Straven looked at him sternly, and Fenchurch scowled. "Sorry" he mumbled, wondering if he even said it out loud.

Feeling Fenchurch's gaze piercing his skin like a dull saw, Callum pushed his feet into the floorboards; skidding his chair backwards. "I guess I'll get going, then? Yeah?"

The whole room was staring at him, rather loudly considering the silence. Still clutching the sack of sundries, he edged backwards toward the ladder - fully aware he'd completely forgotten how to walk.

"You go too," said Straven, looking at Fenchurch.

Trying to wipe herring of her face, "apart from the obvious reason not to", she announced coldly. "You should've seen his expression when I said he needed some cheering up" she said and picked a fish bone out of her hair.

"Fenny, you're being silly" Katrine added.

"Fenchurch!" she said automatically.

"Do not forget your situation" a hoarse voice added, all three people in the room looked at the source of the voice, who had just entered the room, how was not exactly clear. "I have a feeling you are helping him out", the stranger toyed with a small object, you couldn't quite make out what if was, if you didn't know it already.

"I'll help him out then" Fenchurch said with a sigh of resignation, she was frantically stroking her hair behind her ear. She turned on her heel and walked out the door, then she sprinted down the hallway.

"You two..." the stranger was seized by a fit of coughing "...I believe..." the rest of his words were choked by the coughing. He wiped his mouth with a small hankerchief and threw a small pouch of black leather to Straven, who caught it. They were alone again...

The old man crumpled in pain at the base of the bed he just materialized next to. A fit of coughing wracked his body. "Get me herring," he gasped. Johnathon, who had been standing quietly by the door, rushed out of the room and called to a servant nearby.

"Our master requires herring, bring some here as quickly as possible." He then hurried back into the room and closed the door. The Alchemist was sitting hunched over on the bed, still wheezing.

"Damn that man," cursed the Alchemist. "If I ever find out who gave him those cursed bolts they will pay. He may not have killed me, but he ruined my mastery of the teleportation matrix. I used to be the most refined caster of teleports the world over...Now look at me...my every spell a wretched failure."

"We will get our revenge soon my Lord" Johnathon said encouragingly.

---------------------------------

Callum was out in the street when Fenchurch crept out the door. "Hi Fenny he said." She almost screamed at him but somehow restrained herself at the last minute. "So, you're a gang member. Never would have tagged you as the bad girl working at the rising sun."

"Oh please Callum. Come with me to the phoenix armoury, we will discuss your assignment there."

Once they were in the armour Fenchurch looked him and down, a small smile on her face. She went over to crate and pulled out some worn clothes, a wig, and a blackjack. She spoke to the master of the armoury who handed her a familiar vial.

"Hey, that's my vial of stench! How'd you get that?"

"We requisitioned it from the bank," she said slyly. "But that's besides the point, We need you to infiltrate the Cobras, the Hunter's gang in Ardougne.
Wear these clothes, bring the vial and carry a hunter's crossbow. Argue with the tribal salesman over the ridiculous price of a bronze Javelin. That's the way that anyone recruited is supposed to indicate interest."

"How do you know this?"

"We captured one of their men. We have torture facilities and interrogators. Need I add anything else?"

"No."

"Then get moving!"

[Sorry! I'll make up some BS then! XD]

Callum dressed himself in the appropriate garb and quickly teleported to Ardounge. Once he arrived, he noticed a new salesman, a tribesman in front of a stall lined with various javelins. Callum suspected this was the man.

Callum walked up to him and asked, "Hello, but are you selling any javelins by any chance?"

The tribal salesman responded, "Oh yeas, bwana! I have all of the javelins you could ever imagine!"

"Great! How much would be a bronze javelin, please?"

"Oh, bronze javelins? They are 10,000 gp! I know this sounds expensive, but these javelins are finely crafted and imported from my home village, where only the most skilled craftsmen hand carve and sharpen the metal blade!"

"Those javelins look pretty normal to me. You know, if you could reduce it... If you don't I'm afraid I'll have to kill you."

"Oh so I see."

The seller then teleported Callum.

Callum appeared in a jail, with multiple other people. "Where am I," he asked one of the nearby people. "You're in scaperune, the jail of runescape," he replied. Callum was stunned. 'Jail! What did I do wrong' he thought. The room around him was grey and smelled like moldy bread. " Callum the adventurer, please don't move while you are being teleported to the court room," a loud voice boomed. Callum could not move even if he wanted to. He was frozen with fear. He felt the spell hit him and then everything went black.

Collective Story Empty Re: Collective Story

Post by Ruy112 Sat Jul 31, 2010 12:18 am

Darkness and someone playing the bongos. Callum slowly opened his eyes, which only made the darkness slightly less dark, but didn't do anything about the raving bongo players. Callum looked around in an attempt, but there was nothing familiar about the place, except for the heart-shaped face framed by messy brown hair. "Fenny?". The bongo players were joined by several dancing oliphants.

After a drink of icy water with a slight taste of metal, Callum was feeling slightly better, and the bongo players and dancing mammals had been replaced by the fairies with silver bells. "How could you choose the wrong Tribal Weapon Salesman?" Fenchurch said and continued about the stupidity of Callum and how his father must've been a goblin and how his mother was most likely a squirrel that was allergic to nuts.

After listening to how many fruits that was smarter than himself, Callum decided to try and find out, what the Guthix was going on. "How do we get out of here?" he asked meekly, and interrupted Fenchurch's listing all the advantages a pineapple had over him. "And where is here?"

Fenchurch explained something about an underground prison, used for keeping people who could not be jailed due to the law, before there was more evidence against them. Callum had been caught by a fake Tribal Weapon Salesman who caught all people showing interest in the gang, by arguing about the ridiculous price of bronze javelins. (This password was actually outdated, but no one except for the genuine Cobras knew that).

The entire jail was under a tele-block, luckily Fenchurch had accounted for that by hiding two custom-made teletablets private places on her body, when she let herself arrest. They were made for getting around tele-blocks, by teleporting on a lower frequency, or simply, they moved slower through the abyss and the dimensional walls.

They broke their tablets on '3', or actually Fenchurch broke her's on '3', Callum was waiting for 'now', and didn't break it before what would have been '5', if anyone was actually still counting.

Callum felt like he was being pulled by his intestines, through several walls of water. The few times Callum had teleported, he had always sped through the abyss, with his eyes closed. This time, he moved so slow that he had to open his eyes to ensure himself that he was moving at all.

The abyss was nothing like Callum had expected. It was like a long tunnel, both ends were shrouded in darkness. The walls were made of a sickly reddish material that resembled flesh. All around him eyes without eyelids were staring at him, and mouth were silently screaming at him.

Then he realised that he was alone, Fenchurch was nowhere to be seen. And he had lost all momentum, slowly drifting...

Madness...

Collective Story Empty Re: Collective Story

[Did i say two, I was counting BPs's]

Callum looked ahead through the warped plane in which he was drifting. He saw huge demons thundering towards him. They screamed curses in a thousand tongues, some of them doing it with what very well might have been a thousand tongues.

He felt a sharp tug on his innards and the world went black...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fenchurch materialized in a room with Johnathon and the Alchemist. The Alchemist peered into a crystal globe. He looked up at Fenchurch. "The spells have worked right. He landed in the cell with those incompetent Cobra lieutenants. A much quicker entry into the gang than the drawn out initiation process."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Callum, for the umpteenth time in too many hours, found himself slowly awakening. His left arm felt somewhat stiff. He tried to move it, and found that it was utterly impossible to do so. He looked over at his arm. What he saw was that his upper arm hit a stone wall and ended abruptly. Then he realized his arm was encased in the wall.

He looked around and saw that he was in a windowless cell. A huge, muscular man with a tattoo of a cobra on his left arm was sitting, restless on a small cot. Another man, a barechested man who was lanky and barely had any fat, was sitting on the floor near the bunk. His hand was raised, and clearly it was only that that restrained the larger man from crushing Callum. Callum also noticed that this man had a cobra tattoo on his chest

"How did I get here?" he said weakly. "And where is here?"

"Damned if I know," said the lanky man with hiss. "Or at least, damned if I know how you got here."

"Bu' Jim, ye know well as I do how he got dere. He mater'lized with his arm in the damn wall."

"Shut up Murph, As to where you are, you're in the Paladin's prison, deep under the Ardougne market. We saw you being dragged along the hall earlier. Heard the guards talkin', you got booked by the old Javelin Salesman eh?"

"Um...yeah?" said Callum. Damn! Those stupid tablets didn't even get me out of the prison, he thought.

"Well then, I guess you're interested in the Cobras? We switched our game up a long while ago, but I'd guess we could speed your entry a bit if you managed to help us get out of here, I've got some rank within the gang."

"Could you get me out of here?"

"Yes. Murph, get the damn crowbar." Murph stood up, grabbed on of the legs of the cot, crushed the wood with his bare hand, and pulled a crowbar from a hidden compartment. He took two step and smashed it against the wall under Callum's arm. The stones shattered and fell away. Jim pulled Callum back from the wall. Murph jabbed the crowbar into the indent and a portion of the wall fell into the next cell. Of course, that cell was empty and unlocked.

Murph crawled through, then Callum went through, recieving a long gash on the arm that had just been encased in the stone. Jim nimbly scrambled through and the three of them stepped out into the hallway.

"Prisoners always get dragged in from the left." Jim said calmly.

The three of them ran down the hall. The door at the very end was solid steel, but Jim had fashioned a piece of the bed's frame into a lockpick. After fumbling for a bit he cursed and stepped away. Callum took hold of the lockpick and skillfully opened the door in a single try. I hope I've proved my ability as a lock-picker.

Murph opened the door and a huge guard stepped through and swept Murph's head from his shoulders with a single swipe of his battleaxe. Callum leaped at him and barely managed to wrestle the axe from his hands and give the guard the same gift he had given Murphy. And now I've proven my worth as a murderer too.

Callum was of a build more suitable for a guard than Jim so he donned the armor and walked through the door. By the change in lighting, the presence of decor, and the relatively fresh air, he could tell that they were not in a cell block anymore. All that remained to be done was escaping. Jim had been crouching by the corpse. He stood up with something in his hand. "Apparently this guard was somewhat new, he has a map of the damn place, this is out ticket out of here."
