Grave Robbing: The New Fun! :O
This is an actual thread I have on the Suggestions- Skill Forum. As of June 14, 2009, it has 65 supporters.
If you support, tell me and I'll add you to the list! 8)
Got my joke? Bet you didn't.
(It is a parody of Star Trek: The Next Generation.)
Anyway,
when I was a little forum noob, there was a sticky about posting a
synopsis of your ideas in the one (yes, there was only one) Suggestions
Forum. To be exact, I probably posted it in October of '07 (not sure on
that, but I could be wrong).
I had an idea that an
improvement to the Thieving skill. This post had obtained the Mod who
posted the sticky's attention! If I do remember it correctly, the JaGeX
Mod said that it was rather grotesque and it could even count for an
entire skill! (This was a thought by the moderator; this idea isn't an entire skill.)
So, today after massive thought about it, I decided to resurrect my idea of Grave Robbing and present it to you all!
You may post, but I am busy trying to find the correct xp amounts for each
grave found. Also, ear splitting headaches don't help much when you are
trying to do math.

~ Skill it is Improving ~
Now that I have the introduction
out-of-the way, I will now speak of the logistics of this new skill
addition. (ugh! >.> )
I guess this could be considered
an addition of the already UNDERPOWERED skill of Thieving. (My favorite
by-the-way; I'm a level 91 Thief for proof ).
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A NEW SKILL!!! - Sorry, but this has been confused so many times! >.<

Re: Grave Robbing: The New Fun! :O
~ How This is Done ~
Ok, now you are wondering how this can be preformed.
'Ere is how:
1) Grab yourself a Iron Crowbar (made during 'Abagail's Locket' quest), a spade, and a Lock Pick.
2) Make sure you have the correct Strength and Thieving levels to open the possible coffin.
3) Go to the appropriate graveyard.
4) Dig around until you find a coffin. You may spawn an enemy*
5) Pick lock the Coffin open (if there is a lock), or pry the coffin open with your iron crowbar if there is no lock.
6) Search the coffin and get your rewards. NOTE: It is possible to get nothing.
7) Lay the coffin back down by using the coffin with its hole you dug up, and repeat steps 4-7.
* Explained on post 9.

Re: Grave Robbing: The New Fun! :O
~ The Various Graves and Their Rewards ~
Ok, so here is how the grave robbing system works.
Each graveyard is considered a whole. There are four different types of coffins you may be able to find:
> Peasant Body
> Middle Class Citizen Coffin
> Wealthy Citizen Casket
> Royal Casket
The
following paragraphs list the most common rewards you'll get when you
loot a coffin. The common rewards are an 85% chance of receiving, and
the rare rewards are a 12% chance. However, you may receive nothing at
a 3% chance.
The peasant body is a person wrapped up in a
single cloth. It will require you to rip open the sheets (strength), or
pick a padlock (thieving). These are the second most common and will
regularly result in bones and a skull, small amounts of gold (1-20),
rotten food, or nothing.
The most common one that you may
find. The Middle Class Citizen Coffin is a poorly made wooden coffin.
They can either be forced open with the crowbar (strength xp), or with
a pick lock, you can pick the coffin's lock open (thief xp). The
regular rewards are: a moderate amount of gold coins (25-75),
semi-precious gems, bones and a skull, rotten food, a level 1 clue
scroll, or nothing.
The third most common coffin is a Wealthy
Citizen Casket. These coffins are made of finely crafted wood and with
silk or velvety insides. You must pick lock this coffin as well as
having to pry it open using a crowbar. Your most common loot may be:
bones and a skull, 100gp, 250gp, 500gp, a cut sapphire, ruby, or
emerald, rotten food, an unpowered orb, unnoted gold bars (5), unnoted
rune essence (15), any elemental rune (5), a level 2 clue scroll, or
nothing.

Re: Grave Robbing: The New Fun! :O
he fourth, and the least common of the four types of coffins available
is the Royal Casket. It has an outer layer of stone, and an inner layer
of a finely crafted, wooden coffin. You must break into each layer
using your crowbar and pick lock. Then, when you get down to the final
layer, search for traps because you could get diseased or poisoned.
Your most common loot can be: bones and a skull, 750gp, 1k, 2k, 5k, cut
diamond, uncut dragonstone (rare), unnoted gold bars (10), unnoted pure
essence (15), death, chaos, or blood runes (10), a level 3 clue scroll,
or nothing.
~~~
Fancy stuff right? Yep, but there is a catch.
The peasant bodies are the easiest and require the lowest levels to open, whilst the Royal Coffin requires the most skill.
Here
is a basic list of the various graveyards you can plunder and their
Re: Grave Robbing: The New Fun! :O
Whew! What a big read!
But there is more! (Not that much!)
Now how might this reward you experience wise and how will this not be abused?
Hm, here's how:
-
The deceased person's spirit will randomly pop up an attack you if you
dig. They vary based on what level of coffin you are about to dig up.
The amount of these spirits will increase with each area.
Peasant Body: Ghost (Level 19). They are regular ghosts.
Middle Class: Spirit (Level 32). They are like ghosts, but more translucent.
Wealthy: Wraith (Level 61). A very creepy ghost, which is much more powerful and eviler.
Royalty: Banshee (Level 90) .
They are just like the ones you find in the Pollnivneach Slayer
Dungeon. To kill with ease, you need to equip Earmuffs. To even attack
it, you must have level 15 Slayer.
NOTE: You will NOT receive Slayer xp, unless you are assigned to ghosts or banshees.
- The XP obtained from robbing your grave can be determined by these formulas:
Let 'T' Represent the Thieving level required
Let 'S' Represent the Strength level required
Let 'G' Represent the Level of the Grave
Let 'L' Represent the Location Bonus
Let 'TXP' represent the Thieving xp gained
Let 'SXP' represent the Strength xp gained
G = 5.5 for Peasant
G = 5 for Middle Class
G = 4.5 for Wealthy
G = 3 for Royal
L = 1 In West Ardounge
L = 3 In Seers' Village
L = 5 In Lumbridge
L = 7 In Witchaven
L = 9 In the Mausoleum
L = 11 In the Graveyard of Shadows
L = 13 In the Forgotten Cemetery
Now
there are three equations. If you are opening a Royal Casket, then use
formula A. If Strength is only required, use formula B. If Thieving is
only required, then use formula C. Formula D is used to find the amount
of Thieving and Strength you'll get if you open a Wealthy Casket.
Formula A
TXP and SXP = [(.5T + G)(.3S + L)] / 10
Formula B
(S * L)/ G = SXP
Formula C
(T * L)/ 0.75G = TXP
Formula D
[(T * .5L)/ G)] + [(S * .5L) / G)]
Awesome! This would be a really cool addition to thieving...as opposed to mindless hours of pickpocketing or grinding away at pyramid plunder.
