Firemaking!
How about a Floo-Network inspired idea? Teleportation with fires! Or my RuneCrafting idea that uses fire... faster than using the abyss or an alter, but expensive to utilise!

Re: Firemaking!
My firemaking idea was to hybrid it with ranging as follows:
FIRE ARROWS YAY
step 1) collect swamp tar (I believe swamp tar in this game is flammable. If not, I'm a retard and I'll find some other substance).
step 2) apply swamp tar to arrows x at a time. X is variable (dur) but would probably work best with the default 15 used in fletching. GRATS! You have "unlit bronze/iron/steel/mithril/adamant/rune fire arrow"
step 3) don your questing gear and complete your generic hard/long/annoying/absurd-level-requirement quest to acquire... THE RING OF STRIKING!! (HOLY ******* *****!!!!! kk done). Basically, its a flint that gets equipped in your ring slot. When equipped, automatically ignites fire arrows as they're pulled back on the string.
step 4) EXTRA DAMAGE. Fire arrows deal a bonus amount of y direct fire damage, possibly leaving a burn on the target that deals 2 damage every x seconds. Note that dragon arrows cannot be made into fire arrows, because otherwise a d arrow dark bow spec would be capable of 1-shotting a player regardless of health.
Open to more ideas, this was just mine.

Re: Firemaking!
I think it's been suggested over and over again, so I'll say it.
FLAMING WEAPONS!!!
Also, perhaps with increased firemaking levels, your fires last longer and are higher.

Re: Firemaking!
FireMaking's only produce is ash... so we'd need to think of a use for ash (possibly grade them wood to magic) and have them be a useful fertiliser or something. Or we need a use for the fire... I still think firecraft would be nice, through chemicals on the fire for useful effects.

Aye, flaming weapons would be a boon for rangers everywhere.
There's problems with the second thing, but I'm too lazy to write 'em out.

Smithing? Herblore? Cooking?
Smithing Uses: as fires get higher leveled you could smelt higher leveled items in them...might need bellows as well. could also possibly add wood or coal to furnaces to increase chance of success w/ iron.
Herblore: Liquid Fire potions, Explozive bombs, and more.
Cooking: Make higher fires less likely to burn food

Re: Firemaking!
New! Summoning Use!
This would use firemaking and summoning to set up traps. Step 1 use: 3 logs used to build trap, oil lantern to set the trap and a summoning pouch of choice. When some one(thing) steps on it the pouch is burned summoning a malevolent firey beast, any attacks used by it give you firemaking xp.

Re: Firemaking!
Yep! would be cool!
fires could also be used as a defensive mechanism where if monster steps on it (which some might avoid) then it would be hit some damage (obviously wouldn't work on pyrefiends, dragons, aviansies etc)

Re: Firemaking!
Sorry, Firemaking and Summoning for traps? Surely Hunter would make more sense. Smoking out rabbits! I think you need to send ferrets into the whole, or something, at the moment.
Fire Ranged, Fire Hunting, Fire Forges, Fire Herblore, Fireworks...

Re: Firemaking!
I actually have a thread on the RS forums about Firemaking.
Some ideas I have on it:
-Flaming Arrows: self-explanatory
-Liquid Fire: sort of magical molotov cocktails, which can be thrown against opponents; smashed to surround yourself with flames; or poured on your weapon/staff for extra bonusses.
-Worshipping Fire: being able to join a secret sect of Pyronists and worship fire for fm and prayer xp.
