[RS Forum Feedback] Tag My Title!!!!
Another Thread of mine, copied and pasted from the Runescape boards!
Please note that this one is a Forum Feedback one, so I've posted it here, as there is no "Runescape Forum Feedback" here.

Welcome to
^v^ Tag My Title!!!! ^v^

^v^ You may now Post! ^v^
This is going to be a fairly short Thread, because it’s a fairly simple idea.
-
The Problem.
Anyone who has ever owned a Thread, if they are
like me, will have two goals with it, in terms of getting it seen.
Equally important, these are to have a Thread with a catchy enough
title to get people browsing the Forums to click on it, and to have a
Thread people will find upon searching relevant Keywords using Jagex’s
Forum Search feature.
However, this is very difficult. I own
a Thread called “You Sown, Watered or What!?!?” which is about
Plantpots, and the seed-sapling process. If someone searched for
Plantpots they wouldn’t get it, but it is a far catchier title for
someone browsing the Forums. If I called it “Plantpots” it wouldn’t be
as interesting or catchy, but it would be searchable.
Jagex, I have two goals, please make both possible.
-
The Solution.
I suggest adding another field to the Creating Thread interface. This would be completely optional, called “Tags”.
Using
these, Keywords could be added to the Thread to make it more
searchable. There would be a field limit of 100 Characters, for all
Tags to fit in. They’d be separated by a Character, probably a comma,
which the Forum engine would distinguish as a separate word. The only
disadvantage there is that you couldn’t use that special character
inside a word.
The Tags would be displayed in the space
between the Title of a Thread, and the Code of Conduct link. Jagex
could also add a Toggle system that would allow us to hide or show the
Tags. The Title may need to be pushed up a little, or the Code of
Conduct pushed down.
As each word is distinguished separately
by the Forum Engine, it would allow the Tags to become Links. When one
of these is clicked, it would link to a Search Forum page, with that
Keyword. This would also create the possibility of a Search by Author
System, as a User could put their name into each Thread, so people
could search for them. I know that suggesting that system alone is
against the Rules, but in this context it is okay as it is simply
displaying a possible use for my idea. It also wouldn’t affect Privacy
as the Author wouldn’t be searchable unless manually tagged.
Now,
obviously, these Tags may get in the way when searching. Under the
advanced Search options, I suggest adding an option to turn Searching
for Tags on and off.
The only other problem I can foresee is the possibility of people using
offensive Tags. First of all, the Censor should certainly be applied.
An asterick wouldn’t be searchable, or linked. Secondly, allow
reporting of any serious rule-breaking Tags to I Need a Mod. Finally,
allow Forum and Jagex Moderators to remove any number of Tags from a
Thread. If the system is seriously abused a Moderator could remove the
Tag ability from a Thread, or even a user. Of course, Jagex would
oversee all these actions and be able to overturn any of them.
^v^ Additional Ideas ^v^
It
is possible that Free Players could only get 75 Characters, or
something similar, to make Members feel they are getting a little more
out of the Forums.
It may also be an idea to make a Thread have a week survival time, or 5 Pages to be able to be tagged. (Thanks to Psychoboy8)

But who searches for "Interesting"? And the market place is pretty dead these days. No, sticking Prayer or something in a prayer thread without prayer in the title...
