Optical Illusion?

I found this while depositing a few coins in my Kingdom. I was wondering why I couldn't exit that door

It appears as though the door on the ground floor (US: first floor) is connected to the floor we are looking it - due to the similar coloured carpet. The only things that really give it away is the minimap (as it shows an "upstairs" view), and the fact objects in the room would have to be ridiculously tall to reach two-storeys.
I've had similar scenarios before... can't think of any off the top of my head, though.

Ah, I see it now! I thought that all the stuff inside was on the bottom floor.

I don't see it- maybe... Is it the fact that near the entrance to the building the roof is being held up, though in real life it would normally fall...? OR does the courtyard look like it is on the roof? Or that the there are no yew trees?
