Game Mechanics/Gameplay
Imagine Jublex has commissioned a third party games developer to recreate RuneScape on a much grander scale. Jublex has stated that RuneScape will remain a stand-alone, browser-based game that should heavily influence the new and upcoming game. We have been employed during the early development stage of the game and have been asked to come together to create game mechanics that the game will utilise - from things such as combat and death, to skills, the user interface, and how real-time would affect the game. Chop, chop.

I'm going to assume at least one of you has played Halo 3. You know the flash-scenes where Cortana speaks to us - would a similar idea work in RuneScape. At specific points in the game a vision will haunt us - speaking of some greater storyline-arc that would probably not be in the game at that present time. Sometimes just a voice, images, locations; a face. 'cause I've just concepts some fricking awesome lore but it really requires more justice than just being told at the start of a quest can give.

I think it could work.

I don't just think it could work.
I think it is the necessary next step in the development of runescape quests

Re: Game Mechanics/Gameplay
Does anyone know what happened to all our hidden arcs? Last year nearly everyone was used. The Stone of Jas was merely a cryptic easter egg that has existed in the game since it was created. Zaros was a nearly unmentioned character who had stories being told about/around him. The North was nothing - a location, a direction? Now either I can't think of any because there aren't any, or because they have been hidden really/too well.

Okay, the Icyene. But they've never really had much information snuck into the game to speculate they survived. It's just an extinct race like all the others. It's only recently that it's been decided at least one survives, our friend from the Legacy. However, as that quest was released this year, and a sequel will probably not be too far off, it's not a story-arc they plan to leave for speculators to do most of the work for - or at least think they are influencing.

well, I'm sure it would be better at a quest series, and you try and avoid it, but wind up doing whatever this image you had, or maybe you try and keep a new friend from their impending doom. Maybe even the reverse of what I said: you had an image of fame, and you try and become famous, but miserably fail?

Re: Game Mechanics/Gameplay
Depends whether it is suppose to be an image of an action. In Halo 3 it does not represent anything - it's merely lost words of Cortana. Jon may be striving to save Cortana because of them, but they are not in anyway telling him to do so. Although, I suppose, if you are shown someone you've never seen, or thought dead, you would (un)intentionally try to find them.
