The "American British Accent" is usually the RP British, or Queen's English accent. It's the least spoken of the British accents, but the most widely recognised/easily recognised as British.

It's still a shame that it's seemingly the only one you hear in American shows, especially given we can imitate a fair few of yours if it's the other way around... but, then again, an English show will actually have an American actor unless we're actually going for a stereotype for shitz and giggles.

Although, saying that, there are a lot of English actors in American shows... they just aren't acting English characters. Wink
