Must agree with Tatz there.
Crepes are pancakes as I know them.
The other things are blinis, often accompanied with raw onions, creme fraiche and some kind of fish eggs

That's a savoury pancake, not sweet.
You can get muffins in savoury form too! Have bacon and cheese muffins.
Well, you can probably get a lot of things in savoury forms, but it's an example.

I was severely disappointed when I ordered a muffin for breakfast in England...

What... it had blueberries and tasted nice? Or chocolate chip?

Re: Scotch Pancakes verses French Crêpes
Did they give you an english muffin?
Crepes are awesome, they're way more versitile than pancakes, anyway.

Muffins in England are usually sweet. You only get savoury muffins in coffee shops and such.

I got one of these: http://www.fergysonmain.com/cms/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/English_Muffins_49cf7ed381f04.jpg
You can call it a bun, it's okay, everyone other nation does that, IT'S FRICKIN' NOT EVEN RESEMBLING A BLOODY MUFFIN!

Re: Scotch Pancakes verses French Crêpes
I'm English and what is this?
No seriously, I've never seen nor heard of what ever that is. Looks like a fat Scotch Pancake. Isn't a bun though... It looks too heavy. Puns, whether bread pastry or cake, are light and airy... Those look like they'd make a loud noise if you dropped them on a plate.
I 's'pose it could be a scone that didn't rise properly. Even our savoury muffins still look pretty similar to three oversized fairycake.
That could be a teacake... maybe? I actually don't have any idea what teashop tea cakes look like. Apparently a bit like scones but don't take my word for it.

Well, as an English person I can assure that's nothing I've ever heard of. It's probably like French Kissing, in France it's called English Kissing.
Re: Scotch Pancakes verses French Crêpes
Like pastry in Denmark is wienerbrød (Wien-bread), while in Austria wienerbrød is kobenhagenerbröd (Copenhagen-bread)
That IS funny

I'm guessing it's more funny when you know what wien and copenhagen means.
Re: Scotch Pancakes verses French Crêpes
Ooh
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, and Wien is me not translating it, Vienna of course

Re: Scotch Pancakes verses French Crêpes
So Danes call it Austria-bread and Austrians call it Danish-bread?
See, I can relate now.
Geography was never my strong point btw.
