The Stone is a Lie!
Apologises for how 2D the stone looks! 'specially since Gielinor looks spherical in comparison... teehee.
FYI, I know the shell half is suppose to have cracks... but I couldn't be bothered.
Edit: Whoops, the background is semi-transparent so it looked paler on the white page... I forget .png can do transparency, looks really dark now.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
I guess I created the Gielinor concept, so...
RE: Gielinor
Some of you may remember me getting frustrated trying to draw Barrenland on the World Map we created a while back... or should I say "I created and you just complained when bits were wrong".
Well, that's how I originally imagined it. Nearly. In my mind I forgot that the shell covered a whole half; and only imagined it a small fraction of raised land. I does still work being a whole half, I s'pose. I hate to be the game designer trying to populate, create topology and creatures, etc, to cover a piece of land that size! 'specially with little-to-no water or magic!!!
I suppose the cracks would make interesting geology, and I guueeesssss there could be water up there.
Essentially the water-half has continents and other Earth-like landmasses where the current RuneScape exists (plus the rest we haven't discovered), whilst Barrenland is a huge raised continent. Barrenland's lack of magic is due to it's distance from the matrix - the shell acts like a wall of lead shielding you against radiation.
I suppose it's moons could just be fragments of the shell which broke off! Or they clustered to form more solid landmasses... *shrugs*
Morbius created the Moon idea, and he described it so beautifully!
The Core idea was mentioned by Jer, although I've considered it as part of my Schism artwork. I didn't really think much about it, so this ones open for people to give a bash at.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
Either that was a pun based on German, or a typo. I'm guessing the former.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
Who's to say the Stone of Jas, in any of these forms, even vaguely resembles the one we've seen. Though, with the moon idea, the side that bears the grooves and channels most like is always in rotation in sync with the moon's orbit, so we never see it as it is always the dark side of the moon. There could be a civilization up there and we wouldn't even know it.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
At least for the stone being a replica of the planet itself it is more interesting. That damage to one causes damage to the other - that greed and wrath can destroy the world.

No, they aren't theories. they are something between fantasies and delusions.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
I was gonna say mine's not so much a theory as something I'd like to think was.
Re: The Stone is a Lie!
Sometimes the best theories are between delusions and fantasies.

I don't think it's quite the same when you're trying to deduce the workings of another persons fantasies, but still.

For some reason I associate Barons with Germany. I'm not sure why.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
I associate barons with an act a comedian did on TV where he had fake balls hanging out his y-fronts.

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
Going by your theory of the Stone being the entire planet, you suggest that RuneScape only covers half of Gielinor. What could be on the other side?

Re: The Stone is a Lie!
Yeah, I labelled it on the image.
RuneScape half;
'cept Barrenlands wouldn't be that continent in the bottom-right. Well, that image was more designed to be the whole planet... It'd probably need to be more square if only half.
The Barrenland half would be... *shrugs*... it's ground, cracked ground. It's populated, for sure; plants, animals, etc. But it's very different from RuneScape. Saradomin said there were lost lands out to sea that had forsaken the gods.
