Does anyone else play...
Word chicken.
I don't know if that what's it's called, but it's a logical name. Where, after someone says something sarcastic or witty but you reply as if you took them seriously... but for the purposes of seeing how far they'll take the conversation. To see who bails first.
How else are you suppose to reply to sarcasm? "Oh haha..." or "you tard" (or something more profane). But I don't want to sound defeated!

Re: Does anyone else play...
Ummm, an example... since that's probably going to be confusing.
You're texting and, thinking he's clever, you're mate says "Ooh, texting your boyfriend?" with a sneer.
Now, you can either concede and call him a twat, or play along. Sometimes you have to weight how seriously they will take your reply...
"Nah, texting yours." or "Yeah, but I think he's using me to see you..."
Now it's up to them; concede or raise you a reply. "Awesome, how's he doing?" or "Wow, when's he wanna meet?"
... can lead to fun conversations. When they say "I was joking..." or comment on your ability to understand sarcasm it's usually a sign they have no sense of humour/know how to play.

Re: Does anyone else play...
Depends on the occasion. Often not but when I'm bored and they're stupid it's fun :$
Re: Does anyone else play...
Hehe, I always feel bad when I know they're being thick but I don't stop.
Re: Does anyone else play...
Oh yeah, the reason I posted this is because my flat mate cannot play. Everytime I respond to his sarcasm he feels the need to either inform me he was joking, it was a joke, or I don't understand sarcasm/"banter". I can't be bothered in arguing with him anymore... he's one of those people who have to have the last word, so I usually just concede and make it look like I actually don't understand sarcasm. But everyone else in the flat knows better, so I don't actually come across stupid to anyone else.
But anyway, the reason I found this thread today...
I WAS DEFEATED! Not by that flat mate, no, everytime we go out drinking he feels the need to try and explain to me banter and that I should do it. But my other flatmate!
Feels weird losing.
