Re: The End of the Beginning
SUMMARY:
You find a boy named Zack at the Monastery who wants to become the apprentice of the great necromancer, Dragith Nurn. After you revive him, you help him remember his skills by teaching him the things that require immediate learning (like how to fix his clothes). Once you do, you help him do some research that lets him communicate with Zamorak by letting him possess you. However, the experiment goes wrong and awakens something beneath the Wilderness volcano, which Mandrith tells you is the ‘demon of man.’ You and Dragith try to get the White and Black Knights to help you fight the monster, but you fail. However, you recruit the powerful warriors, Mandrith and Nastroth, and defeat the demon beneath the volcano (while being chased by revenants). When you defeat it, Dragith teleports you back to the Monastery, where he also rejects Zack as an apprentice when he learns that the boy wants to take over the world.

Re: The End of the Beginning
Getting Started:
Go to the Monastery near Edgeville and speak to Zack, who is near the entrance, to start a conversation.
(t) [Zack]: I wonder what this means…
(Choice) [You]:
- 1. (sh): I’ll just talk to the monks then…
- 2. (t): Come again?
(1 ends the conversation and cancels the quest beginning. 2 continues it)
(h) [Zack]: Just some research I was doing on the greatest mage of our time.

(sa) [You]: Before you start a long explanation, can I at least learn your name?
(l) [Zack]: Zack.
(h) [You]: I’m [You], now go on.
(o) [Zack]: Zack, nice to meet you. Anyway, he was a great mage who at some point became interested with necromancy and Zamorak. He made a workshop in Lumbridge, but a local girl talked him out of his work and he made the Lumbridge Catacombs to contain his creations. Ah what was his name…Dragon Urn?
(o) [You]: Dragith Nurn.
(h) [Zack]: I would like to become his apprentice!
(t) [You]: How? He’s dead and although he keeps coming back to life: he isn’t too happy about it.
(o) [Zack]: That’s where my research comes in. One of the notes my sister found-
(a) [You]: Catlin!
(t) [Zack]: You know her?
(Choice) [You]:
-1 (sh): Yes…you could say that…
-2 (a): She was a terrible person for what she was trying to do!
(Responses) [Zack]:
-2 (l): Big sisters, right?
(Both responses continue the dialogue, 1 just skips ahead.)
(o) [Zack]: It’s burnt so I can only read a few words. “Blocks…magic…user potential…laws…nature and heavens…personal….” My guess is that it’s some sort of necromancy spell, do you mind trying to revive Dragith?
(Choice) [You]:
-1. (o): Sorry, but it’s a bit morbid for my tastes.
-2. (sh): I’ve dealt with worse, why not!
(Responses) [Zack]:
-1. (sa): It’s necromancy, what did you expect?
-2. (h): Thank you!
(1 ends the conversation and cancels the quest beginning. 2 begins the quest)
(o) [You]: No problem-

Re: The End of the Beginning
The Necromancer’s Revival:
Zack teleports away. You’re now left puzzled, but your goal couldn’t be clearer: you have to revive Dragith Nurn. Go to the Lumbridge Catacombs with (100 – Your Magic Level) Air, Earth, Water, Fire, Nature, and Cosmic Runes and the Mask of Dragith Nurn. Make your way to the final chamber and fight Dragith Nurn as you normally would. However, when he has little LP left, use one of the items on him to start a cut scene.
Dragith’s body parts slide off of his glowing core, which turns red and turns into a demonic ghost.
(s) [You]: I should have known this was a bad idea!
It points at you menacingly.
(d) [Dragith Fury]: State your god.
(Choice) [You]:
-1 (a): I worship Saradomin, the God of Order!
-2 (a): I worship Guthix, the God of Balance!
-3 (a): I worship Zamorak, the God of Chaos!
-4 (a – If you have completed Desert Treasure): I worship Cookies, the Unknown Power!
-5 (a – If you have completed Temple of Ikov): I worship Armadyl, the God of Law!
-6 (a – If you have completed Land of the Goblins): I worship Bandos, the God of War!
-7 (a – If you have completed Regicide): I worship Seren, Goddess of the Elves!
-8 (a): I worship no god!
(Responses) [Dragith Fury]:
-1 (a): Your rules will be the bane of you! Die!
-2 (d): Your beliefs are unstable. Fall hard!
-3 (e): May our fight be pleasing to the Dark Lord!
-4 (d): How can you fight for what you don’t know!
-5 (a): You aren’t fit to judge anyone!
-6 (a): Your blood thirst is impressive, but you only fight to dominate.
-7 (e): Your love of beauty will blind you!
-8 (e): Zamorak, help me destroy this infidel!
(Regardless of your response, the fury will attack you.)
Dragith Fury – Level 40
Lifepoints: 500
Max Hit: 70
Combat Styles: Magic, Melee, Ranged
Dragith’s negative emotions have manifested in this ghost, but he’s not that strong. Fight him as you would any enemy, but be aware that he uses all combat styles. When you defeat it, it will return to the ground and completely heal itself. This will happen twice before a cut scene begins.
You wearily face the ghost, although it seems impossible to kill.
(d) [Dragith Fury]: Now to end this-
A Fire Surge hits the ghost dead in the back and it dissipates into red flames. A hand picks up the mask and puts it on the owner’s face: Dragith Nurn lives! He looks around as you stare dumbfounded.
(t) [DN]: Where am I…?
(su) [You]: What just happened!?
Dragith finally notices you.
(o) [DN]: You broke the re-animation spell, good job.
(su) [You]: Yeah, but what almost killed me there?
(h) [DN]: My negativity, but I’m alive and whole now.
(o) [DN]: Now I’m asking the questions, what year is it?
(o) [You]: 169.
(sa) [DN]: Bah, only 40 years…now what’s your name?
(o) [You]: [You].
(o) [DN]: Now that we know each other this well, you can finally tell me why you brought me back to life.
(o) [You]: A friend wants to be your apprentice so I-
(sh) [DN]: How could I have a pupil if I have nowhere to teach him, or live for that matter?
(t) [You]: What about here?
Dragith looks around.
(u) [DN]: I guess, but I don’t know how to live.
(su) [You]: You mean you can’t fend for yourself?
(o) [DN]: I’m groggy from being dead for so long, I just need to be reminded.
(o) [You]: Okay, what do you need?
Dragith turns a few rocks into papyrus and charcoal. He writes a list and gives it to you. A ‘Learning List’ appears in your inventory and the conversation ends. It reads:
Teach me:
How to cook Chocolate Cake
Fish for Salmon
Make a Mithril Dagger from scratch
Fix my Robes (circled in Red)

Re: The End of the Beginning
Talk to Dragith to teach him any of the skills. On a side-note, if you touch the plinth in the room, you will fight the Dragith Fury instead of Dragith Nurn. It will still always drop the Mask Part 5.
(Choice) [You]:
-1 (o): I’ll teach you how to cook chocolate cake.
-2 (o): I’ll teach you how to fish for salmon.
-3 (o): I’ll teach you how to make a mithril dagger.
-4 (o): I’ll teach you how to fix your robes.
Fixing his Robes:
(Response) [DN]:
-4 (o): Good, I need some clothes if I want to go outside.
You must teach Dragith how to fix his robes before he can go outside, he can’t walk around in tattered clothes! Give him some Body and Leg equipment to change into and use a Needle and Thread on his robes (requires Level 42 Crafting). You repair them, showing Dragith the skill of Crafting. (On a side note, they look more like ‘modern’ clothes.)
(h) [DN]: Oh yeah, Crafting. I made some pretty powerful robes once.
(sa) [You]: Oh really, can you show me them?
(sh) [DN]: Yeah, really, and I have nothing to fight for the time being.
Now that Dragith is wearing clothes, he can follow you around while you teach him. However, the first time you go outside, this cut scene happens.
Dragith marvels at all that has changed since his death.
(h) [DN]: Praise Zamorak, Lumbridge is even more beautiful than when I left.
(su) [Xenia]: You still worship Zamorak!
(h) [DN]: Xenia, you’re still alive! How have you-
(u) [Xenia]: So my first adventure…
(a) [DN]: SHUT UP!
(o) [DN]: I didn’t convert to Saradominism, so you didn’t achieve your goal. Adventuring wouldn’t be fun if you always did.
(h) [DN]: However, you kept me from destroying this beautiful town: that is a success.
(h) [Xenia]: I guess you’re right. Welcome back.
While you’re teaching Dragith the skills, he will follow you around (including to the bank if you need to get supplies). If you want to do something else, ask Dragith to leave and he will do so. You can teach the other skills to Dragith in any order.
Mithril Dagger:
(Response) [DN]:
-3 (o): Okay, sounds good.
(t) [You]: From scratch meaning…
(o) [DN]: Ores to bars to weapons. I’ll teleport us outside.
Dragith will teleport you to outside. Make your way to the furnace to the north to start a cut scene.
(o) [You]: Alright, time to show you how it’s done.
(h) [DN]: Don’t fail.
Use a Mithril Ore, and 4 pieces of Coal on the furnace. Use the received Mithril Bar on an Anvil, with a Hammer in your inventory, to make a Mithril Dagger, thus showing Dragith the skill of Smithing.
(o) [DN]: Oh, Smithing. That reminds me, I need to train my melee skills.
(t) [You]: I thought you’re mage.
(o) [DN]: I am, but to advance, you can’t specialize.
(o) [You]: Well said.
(o) [DN]: Time to go rest.
Dragith teleports away.
(Choice) [You]:

Re: The End of the Beginning
Salmon:
(Response) [DN]:
-2 (o): Teach a man to fish and he will level up.
(t) [You]: What?
(o) [DN]: Never mind, let’s go outside.
Dragith teleports you outside. Walk across the bridge to the fly-fishing spots to start a cut scene.
(h) [DN]: Let’s get started!
Using your Fly-fishing Rod and Feathers (Requires Level 30 Fishing), catch a Salmon to show Dragith the skill of Fishing.
(h) [DN]: Ah, Fishing. Relaxing isn’t it?
(o) [You]: I’ve been wondering, how do I and some monsters, like those goblins over there, keep coming back to life?
(t) [DN]: I did some research on that actually. If someone, this only seems to apply to people like you, is connected to a place of concentrated otherworldly energy, they will respawn after death there.
(o) [DN]: General monsters, well, I don’t know. The world seems to just keep a certain number of each.
(e) [DN]: I say it’s so we can keep killing them!
(sh) [You]: Okay…
(o) [DN]: I’ll leave on that note.
Dragith teleports away.
Chocolate Cake:
(Response) [DN]:
-1 (h): That will be nice to eat again.
(t) [You]: Why cake?
(o) [DN]: Because it tastes good and it’s the best I could make.
(o) [You]: There’s a range in the Lumbridge Castle, we could go there.
(h) [DN]: I’ll teleport us outside.
Dragith teleports you and himself at the entrance to the catacombs. Run to the castle’s kitchen to the northwest and speak to the cook to start a dialogue.
(h) [Cook]: Hello, [You]! I see you’ve brought a friend.
(h) [You]: Yes, this is Dragith; I’m teaching him how to cook. May we use your range please?
(If you haven’t completed ‘Cook’s Assistant’)
(u) [Cook]: I’m sorry, but I need this range to make a cake for the Duke.
(The dialogue will end there. If you have completed ‘Cook’s Assistant’)
(l) [Cook]: My range is your range!
(h) [DN]: Thanks!
Use an egg, a bucket of milk, a pot of flour, a chocolate bar, and a cake tin on the range to bake a Chocolate Cake, thus showing Dragith the skill of Cooking.
(h) [DN]: Ah, Cooking!
(l) [Cook]: Isn’t it wonderful?
(h) [DN]: Yes, but I have to return to my catacombs.
Dragith teleports away.
(t) [Cook]: Did he just say catacombs?
(l) [You]: It’s a long story.
If you have taught Dragith all of the skills, this dialogue will happen before he says anything about teleporting. (The dialogue will continue after this bit.)
(h) [DN]: It’s all coming back to me!
(h) [You]: That’s great!
(o) [DN]: [You], meet me in my lair, I’m going to get started on my latest theories before I take on an apprentice.
(Response) [DN]:
-2 (o): Teach a man to fish and he will level up.
(t) [You]: What?

Re: The End of the Beginning
The Possession Potion:
Now head back to Dragith find out what his ‘idea’ is. Once you enter Dragith’s room, you note that the room is surprisingly organized with a desk, a weapons rack, a bed, and a range. Talk to Dragith.
(o) [DN]: We’re going to talk to Zamorak.
(su) [You]: WHAT?!
(u) [DN]: Society has accepted him to be ‘evil’ without much information about him. You saw Xenia’s reaction.
(o) [DN]: So we’re going to talk to him in front of the researchers at the Wizards’ Tower.
(t) [You]: But, he’s a god…
(o) [DN]: This is why we’re going to have Zamorak possess one of us and the other talks to him.
(o) [DN]: Get my notes; I buried them south of the tower.
(o) [You]: Then how did I find out how to revive you?
(sh) [DN]: Some things should never be seen again.
Simply head to the Wizards’ Tower and go to the south side of it. Dig near the Fairy Ring and you will find an ‘Enchanted Chest:’ it won’t open just yet. Now return to Dragith with the chest in tow and this cut scene will begin.
(h) [DN]: Good, you have it!
The box immediately opens for Dragith; he takes the notes and incinerates the chest
(o) [You]: Why didn’t you get it?
(o) [DN]: I’ve been studying and training, especially my pyromancy. I’ll just shift through these for a minute.
Dragith studies the notes for a minute.
(o) [DN]: Here’s what we’ll need for the potion.
Dragith hands you a list of ingredients.
(o) [DN]: Go get them and I’ll make the potion.
(If you have neither done ‘The Temple at Senntisten’ nor achieved Level 99 Herblore)
(a) [You]: So you’re not coming.
(d) [DN]: Are you going to do something about it?
(s) [You]: No.
(h) [DN]: Good!
(If you have Level 99 Herblore)
(sh) [You]: I’m a Master of Herblore, shouldn’t I do this?
(o) [DN]: Yes, but I have experience with the otherworld, and you don’t.
(o) [You]: True.
(If you have completed ‘The Temple at Senntisten,’ regardless of whether or not you have 99 Herblore)
(t) [You]: None of these ingredients make any sense. I made a portal to communicate with Cookies; I used a catalyst for holy power from an icon and then amplified it. These ingredients are nothing like those!
(o) [DN]: Yes, but we need to make a potion that has Zamorak’s essence, which his wine takes care of. The others will help us amplify that.
(o) [You]: Makes sense.
The ‘Ingredient List’ will read:
Fresh Wine of Zamorak
Baby Green Dragon Scale
Fire Essence Imbue (on 3/4 finished potion)
The wine and the scale may be found in any order and given to Dragith in his workshop, but after you have given both to him, then you may imbue the potion.
Now head back to Dragith find out what his ‘idea’ is. Once you enter Dragith’s room, you note that the room is surprisingly organized with a desk, a weapons rack, a bed, and a range. Talk to Dragith.

Re: The End of the Beginning
Fresh Wine of Zamorak:
You MUST obtain the wine from the Chaos Temple to the north-west of the Goblin Village. Using Telekinetic Grab is highly recommended.
Baby Green Dragon Scale:
Go to Elvarg’s lair on Crandor (she should be dead after the quest…) and you will find that the eggs have hatched, leaving only shells. In the south-east area, you will see an opening that will lead to a long corridor, filled with Level 24 Baby Green Dragons! They will immediately be aggressive of the one who killed their mother, but they will become tolerant with time. Kill them until you receive a ‘Baby Green Dragon Scale.’
Fire Essence Imbue:
Talk to Dragith, who is working diligently, and you will have these options.
(Choice) [You]:
-1. (h): I have the wine.
-2. (h): I have the scale.
(Responses) [DN]:
-1. (h): Thank you, I’ll get back to work.
-2. (h): Thank you, I’ll get back to work.
Once you have given both ingredients to Dragith, the dialogue will go on.
(h) [You]: We’re done!
(o) [DN]: You just have to imbue it with the essence of fire.
(t) [You]: What do you mean?
(o) [DN]: Fire is the element that seems to have much connection with Zamorak: ever-changing, destructive, yet life-giving. Find a place that has concentrated fire ‘energy.’
Dragith will give you the ‘Incomplete Possession Potion.’

Re: The End of the Beginning
Now, just go to the Fire Altar and use the potion on the altar. This requires Level 46 Runecrafting. Finally, the potion is complete! Return to Dragith and talk to him.
(h) [You]: The potion is complete!
(h) [DN]: Wonderful! Just let me do some more enchanting. Come back in a minute.
Talk to him again to start this cut scene.
(h) [DN]: The Possession Potion is now finished! We’re off to see the wizards!
Dragith teleports you and he to the front door of the Wizards’ Tower. Sedridor will teleport out to meet you. You knock on the door.
(o) [Sedridor]: Oh, hello again, [You]. I see you’ve brought a friend. What’s your name?
(o) [DN]: Dragith Nurn.
(su) [Sedridor]: D-Did you say your name is Dragith Nurn?!
(sh) [DN]: Yes…
(h) [Sedridor]: Your studies are legendary! The lengths you went to for the sake of magic! We must talk over a few Wizard Mind Bombs.
(o) [DN]: I’m flattered, but I came to present our findings to you.
(h) [Sedridor]: We’d be honored. I’ll gather the others to the top floor. Dragith, [You], come when you’re ready.
(h) [DN]: Okay.
Sedridor teleports back into the tower.
(h) [DN]: Well, [You], I really have to thank you. I know I’m not the easiest person to work with, but I’m glad you didn’t abandon me.
(sa) [You]: I was thinking about it.
(h) [DN]: That’s life.
Dragith grins and you both head up for the presentation. The screen fades black…and fades in during the presentation.
(h) [Sedridor]: I am glad to introduce the researcher of legend, Dragith Nurn!
The wizard audience applauds, but the demon behind you roars in hatred. Grayzag (Taloram, if you have completed "The Void Stares Back") sends a wave of fire at the demon, causing it to whimper.
(a) [Grayzag]: Shut up, Lemmy.
(o) [DN]: I’m sure you all are aware of the god, Zamorak-
The audience collectively gasps at the unholy god’s name.
(d) [DN]: I am convinced that YOU have the wrong idea of him.
(o) [DN]: I have made a potion, with [You]’s help-
(sa) [You]: (Whatever you say.)
(o) [DN]: that, using magics of this world and the other, can temporarily exchange the mind of the drinker with that of the God of Chaos himself.
Once again, the audience gasps.
(o) [DN]: As I was saying, [You] has volunteered for the exchange-
You pull over Dragith in shock, hoping that the audience doesn’t notice too much.
(a) [You]: What’s this about?!
(o) [DN]: My research on the otherworldly magics.
(a) [You]: No, me drinking that stuff!
(o) [DN]: You did most of the work; you’ve earned a nice glass of a refreshing beverage!
(Choice) [You]:
- 1. (t): I guess so….
- 2. (a): NO.
[1 continues cut scene. 2 continues dialogue.]
(o) [DN]: Think about it, the power of a god flowing through you!
(Choice) [You]
- 1. (t): I’ll take the risk, I guess…
- 2. (a): NO.
[1 continues cut scene. 2 continues dialogue.]
(d) [DN]: Drink the potion.
(s) [You]: Fine.
You wearily drink the concoction.
(h) [You]: You know it doesn’t taste that-
(a) [You]: Argh!
You begin to struggle as a burning sensation rages through you. Your eyes turn deep red, flames flicker off your body, and little horns sprout from your head: Zamorak has entered your body.
(o) [You/Zamorak]: Where am I …?
You turn to the rest of the people in the room.
(a) [You/Zamorak]: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!
(o) [DN]: My lord, Zamorak, I have temporarily bound you to my assistant’s body-
(sa) [You/Zamorak]: As a cheap party trick?
(o) [DN]: No, um, to prove that you are more than a blood-thirsty ‘monster.’
You/Zamorak throw a fireball at Dragith in anger, but the necromancer easily dispels it.
(sa) [DN]: As you said, you’re a mere mortal for a few minutes. Let’s chat.
(h) [You/Zamorak]: You are certainly a follower of mine! What do you want?
(o) [DN]: Say something, anything.
(o) [You/Zamorak]: I am merely misunderstood. My brother in godhood, Saradomin, has probably ‘told’ you to beware of me. Is it so wrong that I challenge the laws that he has placed on society? Is it wrong that a man, woman, or child wishes for freedom and leaves as a result? Is it wrong that I deviate from the norm, wish to free you from your earthly shackles, and fight on?! IS IT?!
The audience slowly comes to applause and tears of pride stream from Dragith’s eyes; this is clearly the greatest moment of his life. Grayzag, however, is yet to be convinced.
(sh) [Grayzag]: How do I know you’re Zamorak?
(d) [You/Zamorak]: Ask me anything.
(o) [Grayzag]: Favorite weapon?
(o) [You/Zamorak]: Battleaxe, especially the sight of it in someone’s bloody skull.
(o) [Grayzag]: Bird?
(o) [You/Zamorak]: Hawk.
(o) [Grayzag]: Boxers or briefs?
(e) [You/Zamorak]: Trick question, commando.
(o) [Grayzag]: I’m convinced.

Re: The End of the Beginning
The power is clearly too much for your mortal body and flames violently dance on your body. Dragith rushes to you from across the room, muttering a chant as his hand glows with a black aura. Just as you are about to explode from the chaotic energy running through you, the necromancer palms you in the chest. The red energy is propelled from you and to the north. You fall on the floor, exhausted from the whole ordeal.
(o) [DN]: That was too close.
Suddenly Wizard Elriss enters the room with a serious look on her face.
(a) [Elriss]: Do you know what you have done?!
(sh) [DN]: I believe so…?
(a) [Elriss]: That energy spike that came from this very room has traveled all the way to the Wilderness Volcano and now something…evil is stirring there.
The scene shifts to the center of the aforementioned volcano.
(u) [Elriss]: Furthermore, the nearby Chaos Altar is augmenting the power of whatever is down there at an exponential rate.
(o) [DN]: Meaning….
(u) [Elriss]: It’s the end of the world as we know it!
(o) [DN]: I feel fine.
(a) [Wizard]: It’s your fault we’re all gonna die!
(a) [Wizard]: Yeah, if it wasn’t-
(o) [DN]: Weren’t.
(a) [Wizard]: Don’t correct me! Thanks to Zamorak, we’re all gonna die.
(a) [Sedridor]: Dragith Nurn, for dooming us all, you are here by excommunicated from the Wizards’ Tower!
(d) [DN]: Fine then.
Dragith picks you up, throws you over his shoulder, and teleports back to his lair.
(o) [You]: Augh, my head.
You see Dragith muttering to himself as he flips through his notes.
(o) [You]: A lot happened today, we both need a breather.
(o) [DN]: That was too close.

Re: The End of the Beginning
Coming Together:
Dragith clearly has been through a lot, but talk to him regardless.
(o) [You]: Are you okay?
(o) [DN]: I’m fine, but we have a mess to clean.
(o) [You]: What do you mean?
(h) [DN]: I just came back to life; I’m not going to let the apocalypse ruin my fun. Now we just have to kill whatever’s down there.
(o) [You]: I guess so.
(o) [DN]: Alright, we need some background knowledge on the volcano; do you know anyone who could help, like a worker?
(t) [You]: I think so…
(o) [You]: Mandrith, he used to be the custodian of the volcano, now he hangs around the Edgeville Bank
(h) [DN]: Okay, go talk to him and ask him to tell you what you know.
(sa) [You]: While you stay here alone.
(l) [DN]: Research.
Now head to the Edgeville bank and speak to Mandrith about the Wilderness Volcano. You explain the situation to him.
(s) [Mandrith]: This is terrible! It’s the end of the world as we know it!
(o) [You]: I feel fine.
(d) [Mandrith]: You shouldn’t be: that is the place of the first murder. From what you’ve told me, the power of a god has empowered evil in true form; whatever’s down there is literally the demon of man.
(h) [You]: And if I were a-
(sa) [Mandrith]: I meant mankind.
(u) [Mandrith]: If I were you, I’d live the next few days to the fullest. You’d need an army to take down whatever’s in there.
(t) [You]: I know just where to find one.
Now, speak with Dragith Nurn. (Don’t worry; it gets more exciting real soon.) You report what Mandrith told you.
(o) [You]: So we’re going to need an army to fight the demon that’s in the volcano. Who better help us than the White Knights! They’ve saved Falador countless times.
(t) [DN]: Although I really don’t want to work with those Saradominist ninnies, we have no choice. Do you have some connection to them?
(If you haven’t completed ‘Black Knight’s Fortress’)
(u) [You]: No.
(o) [DN]: Get one, and then come back to me.
(Ends conversation)
(If you have completed ‘Black Knight’s Fortress’)
(h) [You]: I foiled the Black Knights.
(o) [DN]: Okay, I’ll meet you outside of the castle. But before then, I’ll make some new battle robes.
Dragith clearly has been through a lot, but talk to him regardless.
(o) [You]: Are you okay?

Re: The End of the Beginning
Dragith teleports away to prepare. Now, you just need to go to the castle as well and a cut scene will begin. There you’ll see Dragith standing in magical robes, giving off a warm, yet powerful, aura. He smirks at you as you look at the symbol of Zamorak stamped brazenly on his chest.
(t) [You]: I don’t think wearing a symbol of Zamorak in front of the SARADOMINIAN White Knights.
(o) [DN]: Well [You], it’s best if they found out right off the bat.
You walk in with Dragith at your side. The White Knights stop training and turn to look at you. Sir Amik Varze then approaches you.
(If you haven’t completed ‘Wanted!’)
(a) [Amik]: [You], why are you with that Zamorakian filth?!
(If you have completed ‘Wanted!’)
(a) [Amik]: [You], as a White Knight, you can not associate yourself with Zamorak! 10 points from [You]!
(Both responses progress the cut scene. Note that you actually won’t lose White Knight Points)
(o) [You]: Sir, the world will be destroyed by a demon awakening in the north.
(a) [Amik]: Even if that’s the case, we won’t work with the likes of him!
Amik points directly at Dragith who has been rummaging in his robes.
(d) [DN]: Maybe you could be persuaded…
(d) [DN]: MAELSTROM!
Dragith points his palm to the center of the castle’s courtyard. A pillar of light purple, arcane magic forms and begins to whirl, shooting bolts of arcane magic in all directions, effectively preventing anyone, but you two, from leaving.
(o) [DN]: As you can see, I’m a very powerful mage. This pillar of magic will shoot bolts of magic at any who try to enter this courtyard. I will remove it, if you let us-
Dragith shutters for a second.
(o) [DN]: -talk.
Amik wearily walks out to the courtyard, just as the pillar of magic stops spinning. Dragith runs to the pillar.
(o) [DN]: Give me a second to reload.
(su) [DN]: …!
(su) [DN]: I’m out of ammo.
(sa) [You]: You’re a genius.
(a) [Amik]: Knights, attack!
The White Knights all pile onto you and the screen fades to black.

Re: The End of the Beginning
You wake up in the jail cell on the 1st (American 2nd) floor; Dragith is bound by glowing hand-cuffs. A lone White Knight sleeps on the bench across you with a pad above him and a key beside him. (On a side note, this section would be better if a jail cell was added to the highest floor.)
(u) [You]: Jailed by the people I worked with.
(l) [DN]: Sounds like the script of a bad play.
(o) [DN]: Anyway, I can just teleport us-
(su) [DN]: These shackles are keeping me from using my magic!
You look over to the key across the room.
(o) [You]: I think that key may unlock them.
(o) [DN]: I have runes in the pouch slung over my shoulder; you should know what to do.
You look around in Dragith’s bag and find 1 Air Rune and 1 Law Rune. Just cast Telekinetic Grab on the Binding Key. Use the key Dragith’s chains to release him.
(o) [DN]: Now to teleport out.
The spell splashes on you two.
(a) [DN]: Explicatives, I can’t teleport us out.
(sh) [You]: Which means we sneak out. I think that pad is a lock of sorts.
(o) [DN]: I have some runes for Telekinetic Manipulation, but I never learned how to use that spell.
(sa) [You]: Luckily I did.
Dragith hands you 30 Cosmic and Law Runes. (Telekinetic Manipulation is a spell that requires Level 42 Magic and uses 1 Cosmic Rune and 1 Law Rune. It allows you to interact with things that you can’t reach, like opening a door.) Cast Telekinetic Manipulation on the pad to open it and you will access a 5x5 sliding puzzle of a White Knight’s helmet with a blue plume. However, you have 29 moves (each move uses a cast) in order to solve it. If you fail, you’ll have to get your own runes. (Dragith can’t leave but you can, re-entering the castle will result in being immediately thrown back in jail.) Once the puzzle has been solved, the door will disappear and the knight will wake up.
(o) [Knight]: The prisoners are-
Dragith casts a spell on the knight, completely wrapping him in vines.
(o) [DN]: Gag, similar to Bind, but it makes the target shut up too!
(u) [You]: We should have used it earlier, now the knights know we’ve escaped.
(o) [DN]: We just sneak out, you lead.
The prison room will be empty, but there are knights patrolling all the other rooms, the number depends on the size of the room (up to 3). You must lead Dragith to the courtyard without entering the knights’ lines of sight; if you are caught, you will have to start all over again, from freeing Dragith. Note that there are many paths, but some are easier than others. Once you enter the court yard, there will be 6 knights and 2 more guarding the bridge!
(o) [You]: We need a distraction.
(d) [DN]: My specialty…
Dragith pulls out a few bones and a fox pelt and casts a spell on the morbid items. Suddenly the remains pull together in to a lively fox. Dragith pets it and sends to the chickens, sending the scene into chaos!
(a) [Knight]: Catch that fox!
(a) [Knight]: Catch those chickens!
The knights run franticly as the animals run amok, making a mess of feathers. You casually stroll out of the castle.
(h) [DN]: Bye!

Re: The End of the Beginning
Although you have escaped the White Knights’ grip, you are ally-less. Is there a group willing to help you? Go talk to Dragith.
(t) [DN]: Those Saradominists were too hung up on their rules to help us.
(o) [You]: I told you wearing that was a bad idea.
(t) [DN]: So what about Zamorakian warriors? We love a good fight!
(o) [You]: Like the Black Knights?
(h) [DN]: They’ll do just fine!
(s) [You]: I don’t think they’ll be happy with me.
(o) [DN]: I’ll wear my robes and restock my runes; I’ll meet you at the entrance to the Ice Mountain.
Dragith teleports away to prepare. Get ready for battle, as you have a brawl ahead of you. Head west of the Monastery (wave hi to Zack) and meet Dragith at the base of the hill. You walk up to the hill and travel to the front door.
(o) [DN]: Black Knights, a demon threatens to destroy our world. We need your help.
(a) [Knight]: And why should we follow you?
(d) [You]: Because we can easily beat you!
(e) [Knight]: Let’s see about that!
8 Black Knights (Level 33) come out and attack you. It shouldn’t be a terribly tough fight; Dragith is also casting Fire Surge (with a max hit of 300). When you defeat all 8 of them, a cut scene will begin.
(d) [DN]: Bah, you’re all too weak to help us. Now dance, Miasmic Barrage!
Dragith then slams his staff on the ground and bolts of miasma rain onto the Knishra. As the knights dance to stay alive, Dragith walks to the top of mountain.

Less is More:
Follow the necromancer to the top of the mountain. You’ll see Dragith sitting on a mound of snow, throwing bolts of fire at Icefiends. Not even the sight of them melting cheers him up. Talk to him to begin a cut scene.
(o) [DN]: Well, I messed up.
(t) [You]: Come again.
(u) [DN]: I wanted to do something great so badly, I didn’t care what the cost would be. My whole life has been reckless research that ends in undoing it, the catacombs and now this.
(o) [You]: But it has to be my fault too, right?
(u) [DN]: When I met you, I saw myself when I was your age.
(sa) [You]: Creepy yet flattering.
(u) [DN]: I saw someone with unlimited potential. I took the opportunity and now the world’s doomed. The White Knights won’t help and the Black Knights would just be killed.
(o) [You]: I still don’t see what you’re sad about.
(u) [DN]: What?
(o) [You]: You said I have unlimited potential: I’m putting it to use. If you’re going to mope here, I’ll fight that demon myself!
(a) [You]: What Zamorakian flees from a good fight!
Dragith stands up.
(o) [DN]: You’re right. We still have chance, but we still need help.
(o) [Oracle]: Less is more.
(o) [DN]: It’ll never catch on.
(t) [You]: I don’t think that’s what she had in mind.
(o) [You]: You mean that we are better off with a few, powerful allies than many, decent ones. Also, we should be better-rounded in combat styles than a group of knights. Dragith, you’re a mage so we need a warrior and a ranger.
(h) [DN]: I think you’re onto something!
(o) [DN]: For the warrior, who’s the buffest person you know?
(If you haven’t entered the Warriors’ Guild)
(o) [You]: Mandrith!
(h) [DN]: Excellent! He also knows a lot about the volcano. His knowledge will be useful….
(If you have entered the Warriors’ Guild)

Re: The End of the Beginning
Dragith does so. With your drive renewed, you better head back to Mandrith and speak to him. You explain the situation to him.
(o) [Mandrith]: So we don’t need an army?
(o) [You]: Just a few allies, and we think you would make a great one.
(u) [Mandrith]: I’m honored, but I am weaponless.
(t) [You]: What about that sword you’re holding?
(sa) [Mandrith]: This butter knife? Ha.
(o) [Mandrith]: A warrior sold me the most powerful sword I have ever seen the other day: he must have thought it was an artifact. I was using it to try to conquer a fiery beast under an island before we all die. I was harpooning swordfish with my sword so I could survive for longer. Suddenly a huge fish attacked me as a pulled up a fish a little late.
(u) [Mandrith]: When it left, my sword, and fish, was gone!
(o) [You]: So…get a new one.
(a) [Mandrith]: And let the world fall because I’m using a rusty old Steel hatchet?
(u) [You]: I’ll find it then.
Return to Dragith and tell him the news.
(h) [DN]: We have our warrior!
(o) [DN]: But we need to travel to Karamja and get his sword back before he can help us.
(o) [You]: Meet me there?
(o) [DN]: And be ready for a fight.
Dragith will teleport away. Prepare for a boss battle (you may want to bring runes for Fire spells) and head to the dock at Musa Point with a Harpoon and Rope. Dragith will be watching the fishes swim.
(o) [DN]: So what should we expect?
(o) [You]: Something huge.
(o) [DN]: So how do we get to the beast?
(t) [You]: Mandrith said that it came when he left his harpoon the water for too long.
(o) [DN]: Good, but we need to follow the thing to its lair without being eaten by it.
(o) [You]: Okay.
(o) [Mandrith]: So we don’t need an army?

Re: The End of the Beginning
Use a Rope on a Harpoon to get a Roped Harpoon. Fish for swordfish (Requires Level 50 Fishing) with the harpoon to start a cut scene.
(o) [DN]: Nothing’s happening.
Suddenly a 6-headed beast leaps from the water and snatches your harpoon.
(su) [You]: Grab on!
You and Dragith grab onto the rope as you dive through the water. You will flail through the water and you wash up in an underwater cave before your lungs burst. Regardless, you take 200 damage. (You will die if you have less than 20 Constitution.)
(o) [You]: Ugh, I’m not healthy enough for this.
(l) [DN]: At least we’re alive!
Dragith finds a torch lying on the ground nearby.
(t) [DN]: Do you think we’ll need this?
(Choice) [You]
- 1. (o): Yes, it was probably left here for a reason
- 2. (o): Nah.
(Responses) [DN]:
- 1. (o): Here you go. I’ll light it for you.
- 2. (o): Okay then.
[1 a Lit Torch will appear in your inventory. Both options continue the cut scene.]
You look at the entrance that leads deeper into the damp cave.
(s) [You]: You go first.
(a) [DN]: This is a maroon robe, not red. You’re going first.
Recover from the damage you took and enter the cave. There you will see the Hectidra, the humongous, dark-blue, 6-headed ‘fish’ that stole Mandrith’s sword. But it looks familiar…
(sh) [DN]: Smaller than what I had in mind.
(su) [You]: I’ve heard of this thing!
(o) [DN]: What do you mean?
(o) [You]: Normally it’s found in Daemonheim, but it’s exposure to the outside world must have caused it to mutate. Who knows what damage it could do?
(t) [DN]: So what do we do?
(o) [You]: Kill it.
(e) [DN]: Wonderful!
The beast’s red-orange eyes turn to you and the fight is on!

(o) [You]: Kill it.
(e) [DN]: Wonderful!
The beast’s red-orange eyes turn to you and the fight is on!

Re: The End of the Beginning
BATTLE: Hectidra (Level 240)
Health: 2100
Combat Styles: Melee, Magical Ranged
Max Hit: 252, 210
Info: A 6-headed, large, mutation of the hydra you have seen before, but fighting this hydra is more difficult than you may think: it will use melee up close (with a max hit of 252) and use a magical ranged attack against you otherwise. Also, whenever its health drops by 350 LP, you will have the ability to ‘Decapitate’ the Hectidra. When you do so, you’ll knock off a head and you may keep attacking, but you must immediately use a flame of sorts on the beast. If you don’t, 2 heads will take the decapitated one’s place: it will gain 700 LP; its Combat Level will increase by 80, and its Melee and Ranged max hits will increase by 84 and 70 respectively! If you do decapitate it, its Combat Level will decrease by 40, and its Melee and Ranged max hits will decrease by 42 and 35 (respectively) until it is defeated. This is why you want the torch and/or Fire spells.
Fortunately, Dragith is helping you! He has a Combat Level of 130 and 1000 Lifepoints: he can heal up to 4000 Lifepoints and will pray Protect from Ranged. Also he will cast Fire Surge with a max hit of 300 so he may fire-seal the hydra’s head, but don’t rely too heavily on him.
This fight will require your full attention, but the fight should get easier with time: in the beginning, focus on defence and let Dragith do and take most of the damage (remember to fire-seal the heads!), and become more involved as the fight goes on. Needless to say, use Protect from Melee/Ranged if you can.
Once you defeat the beast, its life-and head-less body falls to the floor. Dragith walks up to the beast and guts its stomach with the end of his staff.
(s) [You]: What are you-
(o) [DN]: I’m opening up its stomach. Mandrith said it swallowed up his sword, didn’t he?
(h) [DN]: And its bones will be very useful…
Dragith pulls out a dark blue, 2-handed sword, once again it seems familiar.
(su) [You]: That’s a Katagon sword!
(t) [DN]: What?
(o) [You]: Like the Hectidra, it came from Daemonheim. I don’t know what could the environment do to it, we need to destroy it.
(t) [DN]: As you and Mandrith know, this is a powerful sword. We’ll need it to win.
(sh) [You]: He’ll have to destroy it when we’re through.
(o) [DN]: Don’t worry.
(o) [You]: How do we get out of here?
(l) [DN]: I’m sure you know.
(Choice) [You]:
- 1. (o): Give me a sec.
- 2. (o): Let’s go.
(Responses) [DN]:
- 1. (t): Okay, but what do you need here?
- 2. (o): Okay. Here’s the sword and tell Mandrith to meet us at my place.
[1 will end the dialogue so you can finish some last minute business. Talk to Dragith to be given the choice again. 2 will continue the cut scene.]
Dragith will teleport you two the Lumbridge Catacombs and also give you ‘Mandrith’s Sword.’ Bring the sword to its owner to start a conversation.
(h) [You]: I got your sword back!
(h) [Mandrith]: Now I can join you.
(o) [You]: You need to destroy it when we’re done. The ‘fish’ that attacked you was a monster that was freed from Daemonheim and mutated. That sword also came from the castle and who knows what could happen to it.
(shifty) [Mandrith]: I will.
(o) [You]: Meet me and Dragith in the Lumbridge Catacombs. And before I go, do you know any good rangers?
(o) [Mandrith]: Actually, my brother Nastroth is a very skilled in Ranged. Don’t be fooled by his build.
(h) [You]: Nice! Where can I find him?
(o) [Mandrith]: In the courtyard of the Lumbridge Castle, you can teleport there if you want!

Re: The End of the Beginning
Now that you know where your next and last ally is, head to Lumbridge and speak to Nastroth. You explain the situation to him.
(t) [Nastroth]: So the first murder is manifesting as a demon because of the power of Zamorak?
(o) [You]: Yes….
(o) [Nastroth]: Makes sense.
(u) [Nastroth]: I would help, but I’m weaponless.
(sa) [You]: Did an unworldly beast steal it from you while you were fishing?
(o) [Nastroth]: No. I’m making a powerful bow from the sturdiest woods, reinforcing it with metal, and using arrows tipped with dragon talons!
(h) [You]: That sounds amazing, what’s wrong?
(o) [Nastroth]: I need a bowstring to match the power and caliber of the bow. I’ve heard rumors from treasure hunters that ancient nomads bred a tree whose leaves can be spun into an extremely powerful, maybe even magical, bowstring. I believe the nomads that settled in Al Kharid used these trees the most.
(t) [You]: If I get this leaf for you, will you help us?
(h) [Nastroth]: Of course!
(t) [You]: I could use Dragith’s help for this one.
Return to Dragith and tell him the situation.
(h) [DN]: Treasure hunting!
(sh) [You]: For a tree…
(o) [DN]: Regardless, we need to find that tree. I can teleport us there, should we go now?
(Choice) [You]:
- 1. (o): Yes! The more we wait, the more powerful the demon gets.
- 2. (o): Nah.
(Responses) [DN]:
- 1. (o): My thoughts exactly.
- 2 (sh): Okay, it’s not like we have a world to save!
[1 will cause you to teleport to the east of Zeke’s Scimitar Shop. 2 will end the dialogue.]
(o) [DN]: Not much has changed.
(o) [You]: Nastroth said that ancient nomads settled here, we should ask around for information on them.
(t) [Nastroth]: So the first murder is manifesting as a demon because of the power of Zamorak?

Re: The End of the Beginning
Dragith will follow you around town, talk to various NPCs to get more and more knowledge on Al Kharid until you learn that the nomads made a few settlements underground, above which is the Al Kharid palace. If you wish to do something else, ask Dragith to leave. Speak to Hassan about the tree.
(o) [You]: Hello, sir.
(o) [Hassan]: What is it?
(h) [DN]: In order to save the whole world, we need to find a plant that we believe can only be found under this very palace.
(If you haven’t completed ‘Prince Ali Rescue’)
(a) [Hassan]: You think I would let you deface our palace, in the middle of the drought! What would the citizens think?
(sh) [DN]: (We need some way to get on this guy’s good side.)
The dialogue will then end.
(If you have completed ‘Prince Ali Rescue’)
(u) [Hassan]: You know I would let you, (You), if only the circumstances were different. Al Kharid is in a drought and the people’s moral would plummet if they saw their palace in ruins.
(h) [DN]: We can fix that! We have the techn-.
(shifty) [DN]: I have the magic.
Dragith chants as a large storm cloud forms over the town, rain then pours onto the parched soil.
(su) [Hassan]: That was amazing!
(o) [DN]: Now may we dig?
(sh) [Hassan]: Just fix it when you’re done.
There will now be a spot on the palace floor which you will be able to crack (this requires a pickaxe and Level 48 Mining). Once you have done so, there will be a mound of dirt, on which you may use a spade to reveal a crevice. Use a rope on it and climb down when you’re ready.
You will be in a cavern filled with pipes, valves, puddles of water, and Level 59 Scorpions. Dragith turns a valve, causing the water pouring out of it to stop.
(o) [DN]: That’s probably what caused the drought. These pipes supply water to the town.
(t) [You]: Where do you think the tree is?
(t) [DN]: Don’t know, let’s look around.
This cavern actually has three floors: the first has pipes running through it and 5, differently-sized valves spaced through out it and jutting rocks which lead to the next floor. The second has the tree Nastroth was referring to! But a large gap separates the edge on which you stand and it: you can check your progress here. The bottom floor has 5, differently-sized boulders spaced against the walls letting sand dribble in. You have to turn the valves/push the boulders to cause water to pour into/force sand to the middle chamber (requires 46 Strength) so you can walk across the gap to the tree. Sound simple?
Well it isn’t. Firstly, there are ever-aggressive Level 59 Scorpions prowling the top and bottom floors. Secondly, the sand-to-water ratio differs for every player (generally there is more sand than water) and if too much of one enters the chamber, the tree will die and it will take 20 minutes for it to re-grow (you say you used too much water/sand). Thirdly, once you have turned a valve, a blue bar will appear at the top of the screen and it will deplete over 5 minutes unless you shut all of the valves. If the bar empties, you will have to pay Hassan 5,000 coins because of the trouble you caused.
Doing this puzzle is going to require some speed, some forethought, and many tries: don’t be afraid to kill the tree. Also, the valves’/boulders’ size correspond to how much water/sand they will send into the middle floor: you may have to use smaller valves/boulders for fine-tuning the ratio. Lastly, bring some food so you aren’t killed by the scorpions.
Once you have made a suitable bridge, walk across it and pick a leaf. Now head back up (remember to close all of the valves).
(sa) [DN]: Just for you, Hassan.
Dragith will cast a spell, repairing the palace floor and then teleport off. Finally return to Nastroth to start a cut-scene.
(h) [You]: I found the leaf!
(h) [Nastroth]: Amazing! Give me a second to finish this bow.
The screen fades out for a moment as Nastroth add the finishing touches. It fades back in onto a large crimson bow reinforced with a metallic frame and a silver bow string. Nastroth slings the bow and a full quiver over his shoulders.
(o) [Nastroth]: Let’s do this.
(o) [You]: We have to meet in the Lumbridge Catacombs to plan first.
(o) [Nastroth]: Alright. Good luck, [You].
(o) [You]: You too.

Re: The End of the Beginning
The Volcano’s Wrath:
Head to Dragith’s, but before you enter the catacombs, a cut scene will begin.
(o) [Zenia]: So, off to save the world, eh [You].
(o) [You]: Yes.
(h) [Zenia]: That’s nice.
(t) [You]: Nice?
(o) [Zenia]: I was truly scared when I learned that Dragith still worships Zamorak. But he still is a hero: he’s risking life to save all of Gielinor.
(o) [You]: He loves living too much to die.
(h) [Zenia]: You could say life is an adventure too!
(o) [You]: Ours isn’t ending just yet.
(o) [Zenia]: I wish you all good luck.
You smile and continue to the meeting. Dragith, Mandrith, and Nastroth are all talking at a table. You pull up a seat.
(o) [DN]: - should just ride dragons and carpet barrage the volcano.
(o) [Mandrith]: That’s a terrible idea.
(t) [You]: It’s not going to be that easy, we’ll have to go in there together and fight whatever’s down there together.
(o) [Nastroth]: It’s a volcano; we’ll melt if we go down there.
(o) [DN]: No, the demon seems to have created a domain that is dangerous, but it won’t kill us upon entry.
(o) [You]: We’ll need to find a way in there, though. Mandrith, can you do some research on the volcano?
(h) [Mandrith]: Of course!
(t) [DN]: We still need a way to communicate with each other when we’re down there.
(o) [You]: Leave that to me.
(o) [Nastroth]: We should meet at the south-east entrance of the volcano.
(o) [You]: Alright. Meeting adjourned.
You will appear at the entrance of the catacombs. Of course, the means of communication you need is the Ring of Kinship. Head to the Dungeoneering Tutor and talk to him about the situation.
(o) [You]: I need 3 Rings of Kinship so my allies and I can communicate while underneath the Wilderness Volcano.
(l) [DG Tutor]: Here, I presume your Dungeoneering abilities will come in handy.
You will receive a Bag of Rings. Bring the bag to the Wilderness Volcano carefully, as you can be attacked, but the volcano and its entrances will be instanced until, the quest is finished. There, a cut scene will begin.

Re: The End of the Beginning
(o) [Mandrith]: [You], I found this scroll.
(o) [DN]: Read it then!
(o) [Mandrith]: Ahem. “Daggers shielded by a gentle façade, such is the nature of man. As civil as we may try to be, the lock of the demon is in our very hearts. If you truly wish to see Irafurno, the scar on this plane, then break the bonds that hold you!” (If anyone can do a re-write of this message, I would be very appreciative.)
(t) [Mandrith]: Irafurno…
(o) [Nastroth]: I think we have to do a bit of running around in the volcano.
(o) [You]: Alright…
You head to the volcano’s entrance, but Dragith teleports in front of you.
(o) [DN]: You’ve been running around alone long enough, we’ll help you this time.
(o) [Nastroth]: The volcano is going to erupt with demonic energy soon, who knows what dangers will there be in there?
(u) [Mandrith]: But only one of us should go in there, we would lose our balanced combat if too many of us...
(o) [You] Alright, I pick…
(Choice) [You]:
-1. (o): Dragith!
-2. (o): Mandrith!
-3. (o): Nastroth!
This choice is among the most important you will ever make in the quest. Each ally has his strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
Dragith Nurn – Level 130
Lifepoints: 1000
Combat Style: Magic
Max Hit: 300
Dragith is similar to other mages; he has low defence, but he has decent accuracy and can bind a target for 45 seconds. However, if bones manage to make their way onto the ground, Dragith will transform it into a skeleton! (Its combat level will be determined by the level of the bones.) Finally, he can heal up to 4000 Lifepoints.
Mandrith – Level 130
Lifepoints: 1000
Combat Style: Melee
Max Hit: 400
Mandrith could be compared to a ‘berserker;’ he is the least accurate, but he has the highest defence and max hit thanks to his Katagon 2-Hander. Also, his rallying battle cry will give you a temporary 10% damage boost. He can heal up to 4000 Lifepoints.
Nastroth – Level 130
Lifepoints: 1000
Combat Style: Ranged
Max Hit: 350
Mandrith’s brother shows his ranger prowess; he has the 2nd highest defence but he is the most accurate of your allies. Furthermore, the bow’s power lets Nastroth do a special attack: he will pull his bow taut and it will blast the arrow forward, doing a minimum hit of 150, knocking the target back 5 spaces, and stunning it (similar to the Dragon Spear special). Finally, he can heal up to 4000 Lifepoints.

Re: The End of the Beginning
[Response] (DN/Mandrith/Nastroth):
(h) [DN/Mandrith/Nastroth]: Good choice.
(o) [You]: Let’s do this.
You both enter the volcano. You see that it is much more active, lava and magic blast from the crater, but the monsters don’t seem to mind.
(su) [You]: This is a mad-house!
(o) [DN/Mandrith/Nastroth]: Then let’s get this over with.
The last big ‘puzzle’ of the quest is here! You must run around the edge of the crater (the façade). At the Southeast, Southwest, West, North, and East points, a flare of magic will appear (shown as a purple dot on the mini-map), use these points to form a star with a pentagon in the center (daggers, lock of the demon).
This would be simple, if it weren’t for two set-backs. Firstly, there are more monsters in the volcano (the monsters are Ankou, Skeletons, Hellhounds, Greater/Lesser Demons, and Revenants will DEFINITELY appear) so food will be necessary. Secondly, flares of magic and geysers of lava will suddenly erupt, doing up to 300 points of damage! These can be dodged by moving out of the way.
Once you have made the path and entered the pentagram, there will be a flash of red light and a portal will appear. The two allies you didn’t choose will run to you.
(h) [Mandrith]: You/We figured it out!
(d) [DN]: Now to descend into the unknown.
(t) [Nastroth]: [You], do you have a way for us to communicate?
(o) [You]: Yes, these rings let me and other adventures talk to each other while we explore Daemonheim.
You give Dragith, Mandrith, and Nastroth a ring.
(o) [Nastroth]: Quite a fashion statement.
(l) [DN]: Never mind that, we have a world to save! Ready [You]?
(Choice) [You]:
- 1. (o): Give me a second to get some supplies.
- 2. (o): Yeah.
(1 cancels the dialogue so you may get some supplies, you’ll need them. 2 continues it.)
You all enter the portal (If you have Level 30 Dungeoneering that is) and appear in a large cavern with several cave entrances along the walls, but only one isn’t blocked by fire.
(o) [Mandrith]: I think we should go into that one.
You now enter the cave and find yourselves in a long corridor.
(t) [DN]: What’s that noise?
A magical skull lands by Mandrith’s feet. Nastroth turns to see the caster of the spell.
(su) [Nastroth]: REVENANTS!
(u) [Mandrith): I thought we drove them underground!
(a) [DN]: Where do you think we are? Run!
(h) [DN/Mandrith/Nastroth]: Good choice.

Re: The End of the Beginning
Welcome to the dungeon beneath the volcano, Irafurno! As you can see, revenants are chasing after you: being caught means being barraged by melee, ranged, and magical attacks, almost instant death! You need to get to the end of the winding corridor, needless to say, without dying.
However, if you wish to continue to the demon, you and your allies (yes, plural) must kill at least 40 monsters, excluding revenants. (You will fight various demons, fiery and hellish beasts, anything found in the Forinthry Dungeon.) Also, you may encounter several puzzles on the way, some of which you may have seen before (Mandrith and co. will help as much as the AI/Jagex lets them):
Flip Tiles:
A barrier blocks off corridor and there is a 5x5 grid of tiles; flip all of the tiles to one color. Imbue flips a tile and the ones surrounding it, Force flips just that tile, but you take damage. Doing both requires Runecrafting.
Blood Fountain:
A barrier blocks off the corridor and there are 4 pillars, a central pillar, and some debris blocking the liquid’s path. Fix the pillars with a hammer and use a pickaxe to mine away the debris. Requires Crafting and Mining.
Switch Trap
A barrier blocks off the corridor and 5 switches line the walls. You must flip all of the switches within a set amount of time, or else you take damage.
Rubble
Rubble blocks the corridor, 4 twisting vines line the walls, and there is a vein of a Volatile Rock nearby. Mine some of said rock, place it near the rubble, and light the vine that leads to the rubble to blast the rubble. Requires Firemaking and Mining. (You may want to keep the rocks…)
Mini-boss
A powerful monster of sorts blocks your path. Defeat it to move on. (This gives you 5 Kills.)
Enraged Lion – Level 200
Lifepoints: 1800
Combat Style: Melee
Max Hit: 135
Attacks slowly, but does 3 hits at once. The beast is very accurate, but has sub-par defence.
Greedy Wraith – Level 125
Lifepoints: 1400
Combat Style: Ranged, Melee
Max Hit: 100, 250
He throws currency at you as an attack, but he will use a special attack that does up to 250 damage and will steal an item from your inventory (you will automatically pick it up when it is defeated). Decent defence.
Proud Unicorn – Level 100
Lifepoints: 1000
Combat Style: Magic
Max Hit: 200
This unicorn has unusually high defence and it will occasionally heal itself by 125 Lifepoints.
Envious Dryad – Level 130
Lifepoints: 1500
Combat Style: Magic
Max Hit: 270, possibly higher.
This tree spirit is very accurate and has decent defence, but every once in a while, it will copy your stat boosts (reflected as a percent).
Gluttonous Bull – Level 150
Lifepoints: 1900
Combat Style: Melee
Max Hit: 180
He may not be very accurate, but his defence is amazing. Furthermore, he may bite you (as opposed to ramming you with his head) healing the amount of damage he dealt.
Sluggish Manticore – Level 160
Lifepoints: 1800
Combat Style: Ranged
Max Hit: 300
This beast is somewhat accurate, but he attacks slowly. Decent Defence.
Lustrous Siren – Level 175
Lifepoints: 1850
Combat Style: Magic
Max Hit: 250
This siren has decent stats, but it may occasionally sing, lowering your combat stats.
(If anyone can think of about 4 more puzzles, I would be happy.)
When you have reached the end of the corridor (and have reached the kill quota) a portal will appear, you all enter it and appear in a hellish chamber.
(s) [You]: What is this place?
(o) [Nastroth]: The dark core of this place.
(o) [DN]: Brace yourselves-
Suddenly a tall, wiry, black and red demon appears in front of you. 7 wings rip from its back.
(su) [Mandrith]: What in Zamorak-
(d) [DN]: Not even the God of Chaos would use a beast as destructive as that. Its aura is suffocating.
(o) [You]: Should we kill it?
(e) [DN]: Abso-bloomin’-lutely!
