*Attention* This update assumes that the Spirit Realm becomes a larger area of land, encompassing a larger region (ie, the entire Wilderness). This would, due to the duality effect, give the Spirit Realm a handful of villages/towns in the sites of the ruins in the Wilderness.
The Spirit Realm has become aloft with gossip of an agent who can help them cross over. This agent promises eternal sanctuary; an escape from this purgatory on Gielinor. But what's going on is more than it appears.

Is this in response to the updates that Jagex have chosen to return RuneScape back to the way it was?
I voted against returning to the old Wilderness, why are they choosing to take a step backwards and destroy what they have strived to develop?

Because their detection abilities are sufficient enough, apparently?
