Blue Pill or Red Pill?

Context: In RE (Religious Education) a few years back, my class watched a scene from the Matrix. Neo is told by Morpheus about the Matrix; what it is, what it means and how it works. He opens his hands to offer him two objects, a blue pill and a red pill.

If you take the blue pill, you wake up believing everything you want to.
If you take the red pill, I'll show you the true nature of the Matrix.

The question was then asked; which would you take?

My answer was this; Neither, because I don't accept sweets from strangers.

But in all seriousness, which would have you taken?

After a while of thinking over the question, I began to see clear what could be happening here.

We know the blue pill is a sleeping drug, that will knock you out after you take it. It's most likely prescription medication to deal with insomnia. And, judging by the name, you possibly will wake up with a hard on, because the blue pill is a nickname for Viagra. It could be nothing more than preparation for getting laid. But what about the red pill?

When Neo takes the red pill, he sees the Matrix, where he is sealed inside a container, plugged into some kind of computer. But for all we know, the red pill could be a hallucinogen, hence some of the wierdness of the situation.

It is entirely possible, most notably the "Trinity, help!" scene where he and another man dodge bullets, that the course of entire film could be one strange drug trip and Neo is actually high on acid. The whole reason for the black coats and sunglasses is probably because they are dealers who need to hide from the police for crimes of distrubiting and taking an illegal drug.

Assuming we go by...

Blue pill = remain ignorant.
Red pill = enlightenment.

I don't know. In the Matrix, with hindsight, I've liked to take the blue pill... because the real world turned out to be shit.

In terms of date rape vs. LSD... probably red pill.

However, I'm pretty sure the blue pill would be the same as neither... only neither doesn't get you a free taxi home.

Ooh, candy! I'd take both, but I shouldn't be greedy. I suppose I'd take blue, 'cuz I like Blue Razzberry more.

Seriously, I would always take the red pill, as I would rather face a suckish reality than a dream.

See...I have this noble hope I'd take the red pill, but logically I want to take the blue, but...I think despite any noble intentions I'd take the red just outof curiosity.

Two things... 1) These aren't prescription, and 2) That's because they're kill joys!

Eh...I think I'd say red because I like to think that I could huff and puff and say "Oh, I will face any dangers and bad realities because I am tough enough and brave enough for that," but in reality...I dunno. Blue would be the comfortable option and probably the one I would prefer to go with, but I couldn't stand not knowing and would probably say red.

If you take blue you wake up as it it never happened - thus, you'd never know you were missing something.

I just mean at the time of the choice. I wouldn't be able to let myself *not* know.

My choice would depend on my mood. Unhappy = Red, Happy = Blue
