The new website
Any opinions on how Jagex updated the sight?
To me it is a little more stereotypical for a medieval RPG but it is so much more aesthetically pleasing than before. The forums are nicer.

The forums are nonexistent for me...
Won't let me access them at all. And I can't find the news anymore. It'll take some getting used to, I think.

Yeah; it took me a while to get to the news. There is a link on the main barin the top left corner.
Why can't you get on the forums?

Re: The new website
It's terrifying. So many things desperately vying for my attention all at once. I barely visit the site anymore anyway, but now I really don't want to ever go back.
I mean, it does look good, but for me, function is a lot more important than form in a website. And this thing looks like a nightmare to navigate.

Agreed with Orbie, somewhat.
I don't know where I'm suppose to be drawn to on the page.
My web design tutor would not be happy. Less is more.

Re: The new website
Ugh. Hate the new website. Forums look f*cking cheesy, ooh speech bubbles, no, it's not cool. Also, why is there a creepy as hell picture staring at me. And what's with all the ornamentation and pictures that have nothing to do with anything, and oh my god i want to stab whoever made that typeface.

Re: The new website
I think they wanted to update the website, make the game look super-enticingly awesome, and cool. I think they overdid it and will make the game look nerdier than necessary.
I also feel that the website misleads people who are new to the game to have higher expectations of what is actually happening.
I knew it was a matter of time before they adopted a more stereotypical/WoW-esque design...

Re: The new website
I'd say the following about the website.
Given that RuneScape is trying to cater for a maturing audience, the new website looks disappointingly childish. There's too many different colours and many of the pictures look too cartoonish.
I'd strongly concur with Dragon, and anyone else who's said it - the website promises so much more than the game delivers. I don't know what the picture of the Vyre is meant to be - the Vyres certainly haven't been involved in any fights like that yet - and the signature heroes feature way to heavily for their present involvement. It all makes the game look much more epic than it really is.
Lastly, on usability. I thought I'd get used to the new website in time. So far, it's not getting much easier for me.

Re: The new website
I disagree with the childish assessment, I think the metallic gray and navy, while cliche, work fine for the atmosphere. The pictures' style is bright, but they are news banners after all.
The promise of epicness, hmm. On one hand, the game is rather causal in gameplay and story while website provides a feel of epicness. However, Gielinor has its moments, and even the more recent quests RoTM, BoD, even One Piercing Note, all are deserving of the front page.
I guess my point is that whether or not the website is fitting with the game depends on what the game will be.

Cliche; of course it is cliche... I can't tell you how many games have a similar web design...

Re: The new website
I hadnt play for awhile so I just wanted to check if something new in terms of quests and season events had come live, when I come to the website I was a bit confused. It looked good but I didnt find anything that I wanted to read. At the moment when I writing this I somehow clicked on the Runescape Logo which took me to the news and stuff, ehmm.
I miss the old Runescape logo, they could just redesign the old one, making it more modern medieval not doing a new one.
The "in-game Event map" looks intresting, though I can tell if I like what they have done with the map, I just miss something on it.
The world map is just showing the F2P areas, nothing off the Kingdom of Kandarin or other members only areas (what I can see..).. well maybe we just have to take some time getting use to it...
