Arzonus set for deviantART?

Should Arzonus be considered for deviantART audiences?
Arzonus set for deviantART?
In order to boost fan base sizes, I am considering releasing "Arzonus -
City of Werewolves" onto deviantART. This is an attempt to boost my
watchlist overall, reach out to RuneScape fans that might skim over
Arzonus whilst on the forums and to possible furries into RPG.
Obviously,
the work has a general audience rating (aside from Mark of Magnus,
which is decidedly more mature). It will be submitted into groups to
hopefully increase the interest involved and to get word out.
There
are FOUR main concerns with the release of "Arzonus - City of
Werewolves", an idea for RuneScape being submitted onto what is
essentially a third party site to RuneScape's own forums.
1. The idea could be possibly stolen or used by individuals who attempt to claim the work as their own.
2. The target audience could be missed altogether.
3. Submitting Arzonus onto deviantART is time consuming, in addition to submitting onto the forums.
4.
Releasing property like this onto deviantART, no matter how popular,
could affect the usability of the documents. Since "Arzonus - City of
Werewolves" is on the RuneScape forums, it is considered partly Jagex's
property.
I would need to have further confirmation before any
action is taken, regarding the security of the documented work, the fan
base size and whether or not I can relay it across deviantART.

1 isn't an issue. Or, at least, no more an issue than any one else in the world submitting any thing else. Once on DeviantART, the work is time stamped and so you can prove the work is yours.
But what is your objective?
But what is your objective?
- To prove to Jagex people want my work through lists of supporters:
You're putting too much of yourself into Arzonus and you're beginning to sound desperate. It doesn't matter how many Facebook groups, DeviantART pages and Suggestion threads you create, you aren't going to make the idea stand out any more than you have already. I think it's pretty obvious that Jagex will have seen it.
But Jagex has the right to protect their own artistic integrity, and perhaps Arzonus just might not fit into their game. It doesn't matter how much you pester them, it's evident they've decided against the idea in full.
You should really consider finding means to create your own game. As you said, I'm sure there's plenty of people who'd play a furry RPG. But in this instance, you'd perhaps need to stop attributing yourself to Jagex and RuneScape.
I know I'm perhaps a hypocrite.
- To get people to see my work:
You need to stop thinking of your idea in terms of an investment for Jagex. Jagex has obviously decided already that they do not wish to use Arzonus as a whole, and it's pretty silly if you actually believe they haven't yet seen your work. Jagex has the right to protect their own artistic integrity, and perhaps Arzonus just does not fit into their game.
Stop trying to prove there are target audiences, etc, and just release your work because you enjoyed writing it. Try www.fanfiction.net, if all you want is for people to read your work. But you should really start regarding your work as a fanfiction, and not as a suggestion.

Re: Arzonus set for deviantART?
Hmm. There are some points of 3mpty's argument here that I agree with and others that I rather disagree with.
I think you do need to decide, Morb, whether Arzonus is still really a suggestion or not.
3mpty is right, JaGex have probably seen it already, and although I think it's too big for it to ever be added to RuneScape in its entirety, I don't like how 3mpty's made out it was outright rejected. Just because it isn't in the game already doesn't mean that it hasn't inspired developers and it doesn't mean that little elements of it won't find their way into the game.
I think if you still regard this as a suggestion, you need to treat it as such. Focus on ideas and stop trying to amass a gigantic following. Let the strength of your content speak for itself.
If, however, you now regard this as something with a life of its own, it's time to treat it as such. Maybe you should create your own game...
Whatever you do, remember that time is a finite resource and that you must allocate it efficiently. Ask yourself whether the time you'd spend on the various paths Arzonus could take is worth it.
I thought deviantART was just for pictures by the way, am I being silly?

Re: Arzonus set for deviantART?
I wasn't interested in making the idea more usable, I was trying to reach out a little further. When I joined a furry clan, most of them came across as unambitious and uninterested in the culture of furry/anthro literature. All the wanted to do was snuggle and this prompted my aggressive literal outburst the other day.
I just wanted to be with people of that cult who listened.

It's great to be ambitious Morb, but your ambition seems undefined (for lack of a better word).
What are you actually trying to achieve?

I believe I said "and decided against it in full". When I said "in full" I meant to imply that it may have been used "in part", only that they decided against using it as a whole.
Re: Arzonus set for deviantART?
I think trying to be noticed or recognised is the big one.

I apologise for my misinterpretation then, 3mpty.
Morb, I'd like to echo 3mpty's question. Who are you trying to be noticed by?

Re: Arzonus set for deviantART?
I'm interested in that answer as well. I feel like you don't have as much of a goal anymore, since we all seem to know Jagex generally doesn't take user-created quests and content in full. With that in mind, I still enjoy writing and creating, in the hopes that maybe one day I could apply and work for Jagex in that regard. It's not my #1 choice, as it's a big shift from here to the UK, and there's no guarantee I'd be hired anyway, but it's nice to think about it.
So what is your overall goal now? General interest and affirmation/feedback on your suggestion, or the hopes Jagex decides the idea is big and popular enough to be added; which is unfortunately unlikely?

My goal is just finishing it I suppose.

Well if that's the case, why waste time uploading it to deviantART? That'll bring you no closer to your goal, surely?

Surely, but then people won't see it. I mean his RSOF fan-base exceeds 500 people, and people still remember him… >.>
