Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
I reckon there should be some "real world" Construction rewards, similar to Agility shortcuts and Dungeoneering resource dungeons.
Upgrades/skilling:
• Upgrade compost bins (twice as wide). Still takes only 15 to fill, but now provides between 20-30 compost.
Shortcuts:
• 2 ladders: one from the troll camp to My Arm, and again from My Arm up to the Mountain Camp.

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
This is copypasted from my Useless Skills suggestion a while back...which I could post on the site....whateve'
- Spoiler:
- CONSTRUCTION:
It's useful, in some sense, because traveling and Prayer training are made much easier. However, this skill is mostly for show, the Skill Hall being a prime example.
Update on Beds:
You should be able sleep in your bed for 30 seconds to regain a percent of your Max LP and Run Energy, depending on the level of the bed. This will be useful after a good boss fight when you don’t want to lose money on ‘recovery’ food.
Wooden Bed – 15%
Oak Bed – 20%
Large Oak Bed – 25%
Teak Bed – 30%
Large Teak Bed – 35%
4-Poster – 40%
Glided 4-Poster – 45%
“This will cause people to eat less, thus there will be more money in the system!” Yes, we’re all worried about inflation, but here’s how I see it: 50% won’t use this update, 30% will, but they won’t train to use better beds, and the remaining 20% will train. Thus, more people will spend (get rid of) money to use high-leveled beds than not.
Shacks:
As you may know, there several run-down houses in Gielinor. Maybe we can use our Construction skills to make a safe haven. These shacks can have up to 3 hotspots: a bed, stove, larder, sink, tool store, repair benches, etc. There should be one in Varrock, Oo’glog, West Ardougne, Relleka, Taverly, the western Wilderness Ruins, Nardah, and in the Mort Myre Swamp. Since these could be overpowered with the easy access to amenities, they could degrade and we could repair them using some of the materials required to build them.

Well at least I came up with a challenge worth accepting.
Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Giant weapons. Ballistas, catapults etc. Or am I just not thinking straight cuz I'm tired?

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Really? Because I've slept on it and they still sound like a good idea.
Think about it - near several high profile monster killing locations you have broken catapults, and some guy, perhaps from HAM, who needs you to repair it. Use your construction level to do so and for a period of time when you're fighting these monsters, you'll have some added support from a catapult.
Still sound bad?

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
No, sounds considerably better now. Cannonball ammunition?
Just as was it sounded like you wanted the ability to make said things, which didn't really fit the theme of what I'm going for. But repairing them in specific locations sounds great.

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Didn't even consider ammunition. Could be cannonballs, could be something else, could just be supplied by the guy operating the catapult. I dunno.

That would probably make more sense, if the materials to fix the catapult aren't stackable. If you plan on staying somewhere for longer than the weapons duration you're going to have to take up inventory space with the materials to fix it.
Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
I was thinking of more a cooldown effect - the catapult breaks after a while and you can't fix it for X number of hours because the HAM dude is tired of lugging rocks around - by the time the cooldown is over, by some huge coincidence, the catapult is totally broken again.

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Referring to Handeath's "Shack" thing: have any of you played Assassin's Creed Brotherhood?
Why not have buildings in various places that are boarded up? And you can renovate them to add their facilities to your game. For example, a run-down bank in Rimmington that at an 80+ construction requirement you can renovate to turn into a working bank. Perhaps even add general stores to a few locations and you actually get some persistent revenue (like 1-2k an hour?)?

A lot of places could benefit from a deposit box too.

-Catapults
-Banks
-Deposit Boxes
-New farming patches?
-Bridges?

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
You know, I like the revenue system. We should add a section of "renovation" rewards that all grant periodic gold. Say, +975gp an hour for the Rimmington Bank.
Anyway, what monsters need catapults? We shouldn't definitely compile a list. I reckon this suggestion could be finished in no time.

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Oh, is THAT what you meant when you said a list?
I'd target less popular monster locations, particularly slayer locations that people might consider cancelling, although I'm also sort of throwing ideas out randomly.
The beach with the Harpie Bug Swarms
Desert Slayer Dungeon
The God Wars dungeon?
Lucien's Camp
I dunno. Can you think of anywhere you need more incentive to go? Or hate going to when you are forced to by slayer etc?

Fungal Mages, but only because I have shit all magic equipment.
Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Would you add a catapult to the polypore dungeon then, or do you think it's a problem that only really concerns you?

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
I can see putting one at Trollheim facing into the camp next to the entrance the cave/tunnel. Not because the trolls are hard or anything, but just because I ran passed on the way to my arm and thought it would be cool to fire down on them.
Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
The better the monsters, the higher level for the catapults?
Or, stronger catapults at higher levels?
Or both?

Re: Construction Rewards (a la Resource Dungeons)
Probably the former. Or, the more convenient the higher level?

How would some be more convenient than others?
