The World Wakes
This month, we're going to finally see the place where Guthix is said to rest. This Grandmaster doesn't look too hard, from what I see, I've got all the requirements sorted out.
In fact, this looks the first Grandmaster that just simply needs combat, all other requirements are optional if you want to get additional rewards.
How does everyone else think this will go? Will it be canonical or a standalone feature?

Of course it would be canonical. This is the pinnacle of the WGS series...maybe without Lucian.

I'm not so sure. The quest doesn't require Ritual of the Mahjarrat, it's only afterwards for additional rewards.

Re: The World Wakes
It may or may not be a spinoff but all we know is that it will reveal a true part of Runescape's most important parts of history. Who knows there will be a quest in the future requiring both RotM and this new quest (if that is even possible).

Re: The World Wakes
It may be a case where, after going to such effort in all those Grandmasters, us advanced players will have ourselves a casual quest to kick back on.

Re: The World Wakes
Granted, grandmasters have been pushing the requirements higher and higher for a while now. I think Jagex is making the quest more mechanically difficult than simply higher leveled. We'll have to wait and see.

Re: The World Wakes
It might be another prequistite for the next quest, along with things like Ritual of the Mahjarrat (and other quests which feel like they should be connected) - rather than being a finale.

Re: The World Wakes
Surprisingly good choice of name, although I'm certain you're referring to something in particular.
Re: The World Wakes
Has anyone else seen the Shadowed figures around RuneScape? I spotted one out the corner of my eye and checked the Unofficial Wiki.
They appear for a few seconds before disappearing again. They started appearing on Tuesday, so they might have something to do with some upcoming content. They appear to be stationed in a variety of locations including the Grand Exchange, the Legends Guild and, funnily enough, the God Wars Dungeon.
However, their appearances seem to be player orientated - if you see one and log out then in again, they reappear. I thought posting the info here might be suited should their existence coincide with the upcoming events.

When is it coming out? We were told this month and I've been waiting patiently for it.
Has the stupid nostalgia fest delayed it?

Re: The World Wakes
I don't know; that video on the history of Gielinor they released emphasized Zamorak rather than Zaros.

Re: The World Wakes
It also made a point that all the gods were trapped outside, except Zaros, who was never banished due to being otherwise disposed.

... I was making a guess based on the teaser video they released. If the quest is out and I nailed it, then sorry.

Are any of you familiar with the legend of Fenrir?

Vaguely:
Also...
Also...
- Spoiler:
- Holy shit, they killed off Guthix. Also, I find it amusing how many things they brought in from quests you don't have to do to do this one.

Re: The World Wakes
Did you actually complete the quest or did you just spoil the ending for yourself?
Anyway, for the benefit of people who aren't familiar with the legend of Fenrir, he was a wolf raised by the Norse gods until one day his strength grew to such an extent that they feared him. In anticipation of the day he would rise, they tried to chain him and he broke free to show his strength. Then they chained him to a rock using a magical chain hoping it would contain him and it did and he bit off Tyr's hand. To further humiliate Fenrir, they place a sword in his mouth to stop him from biting and sealed him beneath the earth. On the day he breaks free, however, Fenrir will join the giants in a war against the Gods and devour Odin, evoking the vengeful wrath of his son.
I wonder if this is where the World Wakes might lead to - considering RuneScape has heavy influences from Norse mythos and how Odin is always portrayed as a bearded old man who, amongst victory, death and war, represents wisdom and Magic - much like Saradomin. Could this mean the fate of Saradomin lies in the paws of wolf?
Arzonus suddenly becomes more valid.
