Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion - Page 15 Empty Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion

Post by The Empty Lord Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:00 am

First topic message reminder :

Homecoming Apocalypse
Many lives were spent during the war erasing Him from memory; desecrating His name and burning the remnants.

Stories from the time before Guthix speak of an Age of Darkness and that a matrix that was constructed to conceal the shadows; to imprison them and the filth that dwelt within. Though the matrix has remained sealed since, the feuding lords would not risk otherwise. And so efforts were made to conceal the matrix and prevent the empty rising. Keys scattered. Locks disguised. The shadows would forever be His prison.

But more than the likes of the light dwell within the unblinking darkness.

Each guardian within the quest is to be treated as a miniquest in itself, not merely a task within a quest. Storylines and such may be miniquest specific. Such as Malak, the creature you fight my not actually be the Guardian; combat isn't even necessary, as with Raunton.

Oh shoot sorry. Tongue

I think all we have for Adyna is on this thread, she's not one of the originals (ie new).

So can we get a summary going? I want to finish my threads before March break, which is in ~2 weeks. Then I can write Nuerosha and Xantos' miniquests.

The summary's in post one, if it counts as a summary. Tongue

I think we planned that she would be in possession of multiple diamonds, so perhaps she could appear at multiple points during the quest and never being truly defeated until the last time. Smile

I shall update post one's diamond list me thinks.

Between Facade, Gust, Illusory, Static and Stone... which should be the 5th Desert Diamond? I suggest Illusory, just because it means we can get Adyna in their early (as that would be one of her additional diamonds). It's really only a choice of Facade and Illusory, me thinks, as the other diamond's miniquests are perhaps too long (there needs to be something quick and action packed to get people back into Desert Treasure after so long)... Desert already has Debuff, Sapping, DoT, and Movement. We need a Defencive spell, so it's Facade or Illusory.

There. Smile

Pretty much the whole list is interchangeable though, permitted the pattern persists. Tongue

I think we should switch one of Adyna's with Raunton's... I just think Moss poses too much of an interesting effect for it not to be used in a fight.

And having a simple, noncombat introduction to Adyna would work, as she's "fought" three times. Besides, the Moss effect could cover up for Raunton's meekness. Well, he could be as meek as Lucien. Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion - Page 15 49087

Ha, I more intended that Raunton would still be non-combat... merely the diamond he has isn't Moss. But I guess Adyna could be non-combat... but Raunton's one of those characters I think whose power shouldn't be comparable to player levels. It's like the Balance Elemental... our levels should have been made ???/???, just to create the illusion that you have unmatched power and so does the Balance Elemental. Smile

Currently he's gives us the diamond, having acquired it himself. However, I don't know if his motives are their when the quest no longer involves Cookies. Tongue

Is Temple at Sennistien a requirement? If so, perhaps he gives it to us in reward for helping his lord. Or we could go with my idea and have Adyna be a noncombat boss while Rauntun is.

Well, I say she re-introduces us to the quest series, revealing herself to be the Mysterous Stranger who attacks people for the Diamond. We chase her through the Pyramid, and ultimately lose the ability to cast Miasma Spells in the Desert Spellbook with Zuriel's Staff for being able to permanantly Facade or Illusory Spells, which ever makes more sense for her to know. (Her stranger persona also alludes to her obsession.)

We can start from there.

Post by The Empty Lord Sun Feb 27, 2011 12:11 am

We currently can only cast Miasmic spells with Zurial's Staff, so it's not really in the spellbook. We shouldn't change this, just for those who have the staff. However, perhaps we first meet Adyna in combat with Zurial?

Jagex could release a statement saying "After feedback from players, we've decided that the Miasmic spells are too underused given the nature of how they are cast. Thus, we have released a new distraction (or miniquest of sorts) where players can obtain the miasmic spells."

Players will (hopefully) proceed to complete this little add-on, but when it boils down to fighting Zuriel... Adyna has beaten us too it. We meet Adyna in combat with Zurial, attempting to claim the staff (or, the diamond) for herself. Or, perhaps, we are in the middle of fighting Zurial when Adyna shows up. She takes the diamond (thus becoming it's guardian, since that's the only beacon where she is not present). We must then combat with Adyna, who will not utilize the Miasmic diamond at this point (being new to it) and instead the Illusory. When we defeat her, she will discard this diamond for us and flee...

Zurial's a ghost, also, so if the ghostspeak amulet is required it will allow us to introduce Atlas (the guiding NPC for the quest). To continue from the above passage, Atlas, who may have already spoken to us before this point (probably better if he had, in case players randomly decide to drop the ghostspeak after talking to Zurial's ghost) will tell us to return to Jaldraocht with the diamond.

Thus, we now have Illusory in the Desert Tome, but players who obtain Zurial's staff by other means can still use it. In fact, this solves making Zurial's staff redundant. Since Adyna now has the diamond, as the player we never receive a free copy of the staff... we now has a Miasmic Diamond and Zurial's staff as separate items. Grin
