Currencies!
First topic message reminder :
I have long had this idea vaguely in my head but now I've decided to post it. This idea introduces 4 new currencies...3 new exchanges and more...
The Currencies
Kandar: The currency of Kandarin...a small silvery chip...it is usable in any kandarinian store...as well as ogre, goblin, elf and gnome shops...it is the currency of the Kandarin Exchange in the south of Seers Village...
Valiant: The currency of Asgarnia, The Wilderness, and all Dwarven Cities, It is also used by the Fremmenik, it is the currency of the new south Falador Exchange...
Lumin: the currency of Misthalin & Mortynania, new currency of the Varrock exchange (not the same as gold piece)
Dubloon: Currency of all Ports, Karamja, The Desert...used at the Mos'le exchange
Gold Pieces: Will still stay in game, will still be given as rewards for alchemy and monster drops, will be used for certain situations such as trading pvp and pyramid plunder artifacts, notable for the fact that they will be exchangeable for an equal number of ANY of the 4 Exchange Currencies
Other Stuff
Money Changers: Will use a range of product prices to determine rate of exchange but will then put 5% in their own pocket so you can't move currencies without a small loss, will also give out any currency for gold pieces at a 1 to 1 ratio.
Notes: It should be noted that the Doubloon's Exchange is on Mos'le harmless, therefore making one of the most widely used currencies only usable at an exchange that requires a quest
Ports: Port Stores will have a box that allows you to toggle between Doubloons and the Currency of the region

Re: Currencies!
No...Keldagrim operates on falador coinage...maybe the fremmeniks would have kandarin...
Coins...so they just changed every coin in everyone's pockets? I think not...It won't be obvious...the zarosians use a blank copper disk of standard weight...lol...they wouldn't need to change that
also how is fremm Kandarin border hazy?....there's a river for pete's sake

Re: Currencies!
Why? Keldagrim is beneath the Fremminnik Province - the built their city underground to escape the war, prior to that they were probably living in the Freminnik Province. Although, to be perfectly honest, I don't think the Dwarves should have any currency... they trade [items] and as they stock globally should just use Gold Pieces as it's a global currency.Dark Avorian wrote:No...Keldagrim operates on falador coinage...maybe the fremmeniks would have kandarin...
Huh? When the Euro came out everyone had to trade in all their old money... this could have easily been the case in Misthalin. I fail to see why, after destroying cities, chapels, statues, relics, killing faithful, etc, they would just allow his currency to stay in circulation. At the time any who were faithful to a particular god would have probably refused to use such currency.Dark Avorian wrote:Coins...so they just changed every coin in everyone's pockets? Re: Currencies!
Look...tbh It could be a coinage that replaced teh Zarosian one but I still want that coin...
Also I'm trying to create a model in which every currency has broad span of influence....
I don't want every single country to have it's own currency

Re: Currencies!
why not?
I mean the Cave Goblin's should have their own currency too (I mean they only branced out into modern civilization recently).
I mean we are suffering major inflation - of course the wealth values for the different currencies will change, thus keeping it relatively fair.
Also, I have a better idea for those exchanges- for all of the kingdoms/countries/civilizations connected with Humans (including us) should have exchange posts that exchange currencies at little booths at the G.E. to exchange gold coins into whatever you need and vice versa. However, it has to be gold coins you are trading.

Re: Currencies!
To be honest, I think that each dominant species should have a currency: regardless of human currency. Gnomes, Dwarves, Elves... their own currency regardless of what the humans of Kandarin or Rellekka are using.
Also, I think most oh humanity should use a single currency with only a few still using their native coinage - similar to the Euro slowly taking over Europe, with very few countries using other tender. Say...
• Varrock would still use Lumen
• Canfis would use some really old currency (due to being so cut off)
• native-Karamja would use Trading Sticks (Shilo Village and Tai Bwo)
• Mos Le'Harmless should use Pieces of Eight as a generic currency
• Dubloons WAS the native currency of Port Sarim, but is now only used by Charter Ships. You can also get a discount in stores if you use the dubloon which can still be killed for in the local area.
Other than that, humans should all use the same currency.

Re: Currencies!
The concept of extra currencies is good full stop, I don't really mind how it works tbh.

Re: Currencies!
Although, I agree that non-human species probably shouldn't share the currency of their human neighbours.
