Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Just thought I'd let you know; I'm entering. Ruy asked me to and I actually want to.
My "story" will be more of an epilogue; introducing a villain.

I might try my hand at this...

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Stellar Dawn?
I'd love to do writing, but by the looks of things I wouldn't stand a chance. Reason? I have no reason; I just wouldn't fare well. I'd be too easily tempted to slip in continuity.
Best mention this to Blaze. I'm sure he can come up with something.
(Note to self - need more practise with appropriate comma usage.)

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
However, I can say this about the images from what I know about off-world politics using what I can take from sci-fi.
Image 1 - The Pioneers Descend (humans make planetfall, with the main shuttle several hundred-thousand miles above planet surface)
Image 2 - The Waterfall Barrier (most likely a hydroelectric terminal, very Avatar looking)
Image 3 - Underground Base (most probably belonging to Native inhabitants, rather than human pioneers)
Image 4 - Mushroom rocks of the Wastelands (territory undisturbed by human colonists, due to lacking key resources for development)
Image 5 - Pest Control (a very Avatar looking shot, practises used to contain native fauna)
Image 6 - Platinum City (or a variation of the phrase, basically the central human colonist HQ)

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
My two cents;
Image 1) I don't see this as pioneers, but as ambassadors or scouts. The mode at which they descend does not fit with an intention to pioneer, but rather to make contact. Note they aren't landing, they are invading.
Image 2) I'm not seeing the Avatar-ness in the image. For one, it's technology - which Avatar lacks. Looks like a scene in Ratchet and Clank personally, although I'm not saying it looks like Ratchet and Clank. Definitely hydroelectric though.
Image 3) I reckon it's a forge, or just an underworld. It doesn't look like a base, or anything lived in any more than the land is lived on. Possibly the remnants of a civilization, since there is air both above and beneath it, but it's not a city. I suddenly got an image of Treasure Planet - with all the lasers shooting into the core of the giant machine-world.
Image 4) Wow, I didn't look at them as rocks. I saw them as giant vegetation. Suddenly it looks less organic - thanks for ruining it. I'm still undecided as to whether the creatures are vehicles or actually creatures.
Image 5) You know, I never had an issue with Avatar... I personally liked the film. But you're not the only person who I've seen comparing images with Avatar and frankly it's getting annoying. Avatar was far from the first to have alien worlds with huge, alien creatures. The fact the trees look cold, and it's all very dark really doesn't scream Avatar. If anything, it resembles a battle in Lost Planet 2.
Image 6) Looking at this image, more specifically the mega-buildings, it seems wrong. The city is tiny with a handful of huge, alien architecture. However, whilst trying to imagine how such huge buildings go stand alone, I suddenly got the idea that maybe the pods in Image 1 could be buildings rather than man-pods. Or, at least, a similar effect could've happened.
Overall, I got the impression you saw all the images as a single world. I got the impression when I first saw them that they were many worlds.

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Morbius, you are trying to see Avatar until the point where everything is Avatar. 4 is just bias...
Look outside your window, vegetations! Humanoids! Shameless abuse of natural resources! That is sooo Avatar!

Really? Because it always seems that you and numerous others are intentionally screwing me whenever I express a point or an opinion.

We often disagree that is true, but personally, I am not screwing you, I hope you didn't get that impression, sometimes I disagree with you, and I will voice my opinion.

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
The only opinions of yours that I contest, Morbius, are those that compare things to Arzonus. Well... and Avatar. But this thing with Avatar is a personal peeve which I've only realised I had talking to you - not something personal against you.
It's nothing personal... me and Dark used to snipe each other a LOT. I guess we're just an expressive group of people when it comes to ours/not liking others opinions.

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Making the assumption that I am one of numerous others: I don't want to screw with you. I just think you have a bit of an ego, and you also seem a bit bitter that Jagex hasn't added your idea to the game. You superimpose Arzonus on the things that they add. I mean seriously. You came into a thread about dungeoneering updates and just straight up ask if anything in it was stolen from Arzonus. What the hell?

Yup, I'm definitely Zazu in this situation But yeah, I just got back from Virginia, so hopefully I'll have my 500 words done by the end of today so y'all can look at it. I think I'm going for the mushroom rocks picture with a little story I like to call "Nobody Knows".

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
I might have them be organic, but so ancient that they've begun to be crusted over with mineral.

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Or they could be something different. Maybe they feature a mineral exoskeleton, with organic interiors, or they could be energy.

Re: Stellar Dawn Story Competition
Or maybe after generations of inhabitants the hollowed fungus is now more adhesive and rock than plant.
Only 'cause like when I first looked at it the fabric looked like curtains and it all looked lived in.
