[P] Magic
First topic message reminder :
How does magic work?
Our good old runestones?
Ancient artefacts left behind?
Weaving flows of energi? (WOT)
The really realistic, but slightly boring, simply moving energy. Moving a rock with magic takes as much energy, as doing it by hand. Lighting a fire requires heat from somwhere else, etc.
POWAH FROM WITHIN!
Something entirely different?
I'm just throwing this up here for discussion...

Re: [P] Magic
Ok 3mpty you win and remember there is a civilized group and a savage group
Also 3mpty vI think that what Dark is trying to say is that the exposition to the magic explosion was what destroyed their land and forced them to evolve he way they are, and if you has seen the incredible hulk radiation doesnt always makes you a dumbass

Re: [P] Magic
He's considerably less sophisticated whilst in hulk form.
If you go in a similar direction to my hobb idea for RuneScape, where they're lust for magic has left them physically deformed and somewhat deranged - but not actually the result of the magic itself, just it's use, then they could still be intelligent - or at least cunning/crafty. But their desire for magic has left them dependant on it, and they cannot survive long without it.
Basically hobbs are goblins who did not have any self-control over their innate magic, and it corrupted them. It wasn't a direct result of the magic, so it's not quite magic radiation poisoning... it's more like being addicted to smoking.

Re: [P] Magic
Why does a magical explosion mean they all have to have been twisted by it? All I was saying was that they destroyed their city/ies in a drilling explosion and that also pulverized enough rock to form a sea of dust...

*shrugs*
I swear in his original post he said they were mutated. Also, a drill meltdown 'causes mutation in an unrelated explosion.

Re: [P] Magic
I think Magic should be just weak on Pallis. It's a sort of ambient energy focused at the planet's core and can be gathered from lower down. Various race have various ways of exploiting it.
Dragons: Gather it within organs while they rest in their huge subterranean hives.
Diminor: Get it by filtering the water in the Aqueducts to capture ambient magic gathered in the water when it was in the lower world.
Mogrul: Maybe they mine it?
Dwallow: Can use the magic carried up by Mistrise.

Re: [P] Magic
Mogrul should use mystics, rather than magic. Shamanistic/spiritual stuff. And dwallows don't use magic as magic, they use it as energy for other devices, and so it could come from anywhere.
Re: [P] Magic
