Misfits!
Misfits is a television show on E4. Most of you have probably never heard of it, but you should have... it's AWESOME!
It's basically a hybrid between Skins and Heroes; you've probably never heard of Skins either (although, I think there's a Skins US coming out soon... so, maybe you have?). A group of community service peeps are struck by lightning and gain super powers. That sounds pretty lame just as that, but the drama itself is awesome.
Like so awesome.
All their powers are related to a deep underlying desire or fear. Simon feels everyone ignores him (turn invisible when he's being ignored, it matures to whenever he wants), Kelly thinks every talks about her (can her peoples thoughts when they're about her, it matures to general telepathy), Curt wishes he could change things (can reverse time when he really regrets what he's done, hasn't matured like the other characters, he still can't control it), Nathan's too big for life (he's immortal and cannot die, he can also see ghosts), Alesha wishes she could have anyone (anyone who touches her is overcome with lust, hers has matured either and she hates it)... ahhh.
Simon's awesome. I love how awkward he is... he's like Socially Awkward Penguin and Paranoid Parrot combined really awesomely.
What would your power be? This is not the same as what would be your ideal superpower, or any of that, it has to be an underlying fear or desire. A power to compliment your personality (even if it's a personality you're capable of suppressing in public).
I reckon I'd have Kelly's power, or something similar. I'd be able to read people's intentions and motives, decipher the meaning behind peoples actions, see things through other peoples eyes (literally would awesome, but less practical). Which probably suits the theme... I'd have the ability to borrow other peoples eyes; I'd literally see things from their perspective. Just 'cause the magic power granter is a bitch and takes things literally. XD

I can't tell whether I like it or not. Simon looks like a cross between Matthew Horne (an odd looking chap, but his talent makes up for it) and my sister's ex-boyfriend (thick as Cabbage and a face to match), Kelly is a bit of a Bristolian sounding tart with Alesha not sounding so far off and Nathan is just a dickhead (something you will always find on E4 and BBC3 sitcoms these days) and worst of all you can't get rid of him. Curt is the only decent character, but he doesn't shine at all.
I watched it hoping it to be funny and it turns out it's the second series, and is surprisingly grim. If released, it's definitely a 15 or 18 (particularly since a shapeshifted is seen... well you needn't have to know about that.).

Re: Misfits!
I couldn't decide which power to go for. I'd go for Intuitive Aptitude, so I can understand things and acquire new abilities from other people in the same way, but master them much more easily. The downside is, you'd need someone else to acquire abilities.
Then there is the whole ability of Phobia Kinetica; creating energy from the fear of others. Typically very powerful as Giovanni has shown, but profoundly difficult to control. It is seen as an ability with only negatives to it, and easily misunderstood.
Time travel would be interesting, depending on how it worked. But because I am so anal with keeping everything in order, I would have to keep timing how long I am out of time for so that I could jump back in at the right moment, so I don't end up being older than I should be in my time line.

Morbius, none of those seem based off a deeply rooted fear.

Re: Misfits!
That's not quite how powers works in Misfits. It's not your ideal power, or if you had the choice, it compliments your state of mind - deepest desire or fear. Regarding your old signature, I reckon you'd have the ability to instate authority over anyone - make them feel inferior. The ability to will people to feel worthless or worth less.
Also, Simon isn't thick... He's quite intelligent. He's just unable to read people. My sister is actually similar - she doesn't fully understand the concept of lying, or why people don't behave as they mean. I can't really explain it. I think it's a mild form of autism.
A girl in the first series had the power to make people bald, because she'd been bullied all her life because of her alepecia (sp?). The shapeshifter wished she could be anyone else, because she has always been ignored/because she's a special and she's always been looked down upon. A guy turns into a dog whenever he thinks about dogs, bot physically (just mentally) because his dog just died or something and he was mourning when the lightning struck.
Superhoody seems to know everything, or rather, he knows when things are going to happen - he always turns up at the right time to be helpful, but actually being there obviously changes things and he doesn't seem able to see the consequences of interfering -- since he badly hurt himself saving Nathan in the last episode.

Re: Misfits!
I think those do work in that way.
Intuitive aptitude - fuelled by the desire to learn and to understand greatly.
Phobia kinetica - wanting to help people when they are afraid.

Re: Misfits!
Care to explain Alesha's powerws, and what do you mean by "matured", also could you tell me where I can find episodes of this?.
Btw I woudn't know what my power is, because I have always wanted to be accepted into society, but I always wanted to be unique, so you get me those two desires are always clashing >.<

Perhaps the first would be stronger, since everyone is apparently unique. You'd have Simon's opposite power - always the center of attention. The drawback is you cannot hide, everyone wants to look at you.
Alesha's power means that anyone she touches wants to have sex with her... really badly. To quote Simon that two times he's touched her; "I want to rip off your shirt and piss on your tits" and "I want to rub my Cabbage in your hairy armpit". Generally they're more aggressive when she doesn't want it, when she has it with them they're generally more relaxed/normal. Downside is she cannot be touched by anyone. When her power was reversed (apparently E does that, E being Ecstasy) everyone she touched despised her - and told her how much they hate her. She noted that either way she's still untouchable. *sadface*
Maturing means they've got more control over it, or it's become more adapted with use. Like Simon only used to be able to use his power when they were ignoring him... so ironically it made him more ignored. But now he can turn it on and off at will, although possibly he's just convincing himself they're ignoring him. Kelly used to only read the thoughts of people thinking about her, now she can hear all thoughts.

Morbius was over simplifying it, it doesn't quite do that.
Ecstasy makes you feel really good.

Re: Misfits!
It's umm... got a lot of suggestive themes.
Oh yeah, an old lady was caught in the storm and she wished she could be younger... she could turn younger.

Re: Misfits!
I kinda like Phobia Kinetica, not for my own power, but it's a good idea, like...
It's created to help other people, the more afraid they are, the greater your ability to help them. But to improve your ability, you would have to make people afraid.
I still don't know for my own power, I just think I would be roasted by a lightning
