Misfits!

Misfits is a television show on E4. Most of you have probably never heard of it, but you should have... it's AWESOME!

It's basically a hybrid between Skins and Heroes; you've probably never heard of Skins either (although, I think there's a Skins US coming out soon... so, maybe you have?). A group of community service peeps are struck by lightning and gain super powers. That sounds pretty lame just as that, but the drama itself is awesome.

All their powers are related to a deep underlying desire or fear. Simon feels everyone ignores him (turn invisible when he's being ignored, it matures to whenever he wants), Kelly thinks every talks about her (can her peoples thoughts when they're about her, it matures to general telepathy), Curt wishes he could change things (can reverse time when he really regrets what he's done, hasn't matured like the other characters, he still can't control it), Nathan's too big for life (he's immortal and cannot die, he can also see ghosts), Alesha wishes she could have anyone (anyone who touches her is overcome with lust, hers has matured either and she hates it)... ahhh.

Simon's awesome. I love how awkward he is... he's like Socially Awkward Penguin and Paranoid Parrot combined really awesomely.

What would your power be? This is not the same as what would be your ideal superpower, or any of that, it has to be an underlying fear or desire. A power to compliment your personality (even if it's a personality you're capable of suppressing in public).

I reckon I'd have Kelly's power, or something similar. I'd be able to read people's intentions and motives, decipher the meaning behind peoples actions, see things through other peoples eyes (literally would awesome, but less practical). Which probably suits the theme... I'd have the ability to borrow other peoples eyes; I'd literally see things from their perspective. Just 'cause the magic power granter is a bitch and takes things literally. XD

What kind ability to help would it be?

Phobia Kinetic is Giovanni's ability. It seems too often that it is interpreted as a force for evil. The use of it to do harm, because people become frightened, it becomes stronger. Like the Nightmare.

That didn't really answer my question. How does "ability to help people" actually work? Physical strength increasing? Problem solving increasing? Empathy increasing? What exactly gets stronger as they get more scared? Or do you just get exponentially more omnipotent the more scared they are?

Or is it similar to Domino's luck ability (the Marvel superhero)? It just happens. The more scared they are the more helpful your actions are. Umm... Harry Potty's luck potion, the ability takes over in a sense. You just make the right decisions subconsciously.

It's an awesome word.

I reckon Curtis' power matures to send other people through time.

Having come to the conclusion I'm really clumsy, I think my power would be luck. Or, the ability to see the consequences of my actions so I'm able to react accordingly. But then again, I'm not sure. I don't wish I was less clumsy, I love being clumsy. I guess I'd just wish that I'd clumsily do something beneficial... so probably more the luck manipulation. The best possible outcome from doing something stupid.

That happens to me some times, I see some sort of action I'll do with dire consecuences or wich make me look stupid so I dont do them

I don't see how that relates.

If this is how abilities work, where the person who acquires them has had a personal fear or desire, then mine would be eratic at best.

For instance, Heroes; Mark Parkman was a policeman who wasn't going far in the business and also concerned himself over what people thought of him, and so he acquired mind reading and mind control.

Daphne Milbrook was born with cerebral palsy, and all she wanted to do was run, and her ability kicked in after the eclipse, allowing her at first to walk without crutches, run and finally run incredibly fast.

Hiro wanted to be a hero and his power was Time Manipulation.

Ando, at the time when he dosed himself with the formula wanted to help Hiro, but he also wanted to help everyone. His ability then manefested as a Super charger, allowing him to boost the abilities of others 1000 times, allowing Hiro to teleport enormous numbers of people away, allow Matt to hear all the thoughts of people within an enormous radius and increase Daphne's speed so much, she breaks the time/space barrier.
