A Runescape Creepypasta
To those of you expecting to read one on clicking this thread, my apologies. None exist, as far as I'm aware.
But that's the very reason I made this thread. There are some pretty fantastic creepypastas (horror stories of internet origin/fame) regarding games out there. Such as the story of "Ben", the many haunted Pokemon stories, the Number-Stations of Fallout, etc.
Anyone else think it might be fun to come up with one about Runescape?

(PS: Don't stare at that pic too long, by the way. I've heard... uh, some things.)

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
A murder in an abandoned mine, in a barely inhabited part of the world, guarded by vampires...???
Murders and creepiness are (in my humble opinion) more effective in places you think you would be safe.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
I can't say why, but Smile.jpg has always freaked me out. In fact, it's the only image over the net to have ever done so, and I've seen a lot of crap on this thing.
I think it's the story behind it.
That, and everyone insists it's a dog... I'm not seeing a dog there.
Anyway, The Haunted Mine might not be a bad idea, we go there once and then forget all about it. That, and its sheer size make it a rather curious place if you think about it. What if there was something more to it that people overlooked? Use a certain something with a certain something and we have a potential opening.
But say we went for a place of safety, where could we choose?

Ummmm...Haunted implys abandoned to my mind. And it is clearly abandoned.
Also the reason it's a dog is because this is the original

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
Weeping Angels are far more frightening.
The husky appears to be intimidating, because the contrast isn't brilliant combined with the freaky smile. It doesn't appear altogether clear and that unnerves us. Once the initial shock of seeing it has gone, it doesn't frighten me anymore. It's like the Beast in the Satan Pit.
The picture above that is wrong on so many levels. The colouring, the editting and the subject. Perhaps fear is stirred not by instant shock, but by distance from the norm. The colours of the picture don't feel right, which is what disturbs us.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
Strange, I seem to be the only one to have been properly unnerved by that thing. I froze, first time it popped up at me.
Anyway, should we make a start on this? Could it be a good idea? A fun plus to it is that ours won't be the only site to acknowledge our story. There's a good few sites out there who like to collect these tales.
If we take a shot at it, there's a few things we should probably avoid:
- A private-server/fan-made add on as the basis. It's often more chilling if the great, grand game in question, in all its glory, is the site of the mystery.
- Something entirely impossible. Such as ourselves eerily appearing before us in the game.
- Something overly inspired by something already out there. The more unique and stand-alone we make it, the better.
- Strangely bettered graphics and animation. These days, this is a bit cliche in such stories.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to give this a try. Jeeves, too, by the sound of things.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
So...is it a runescape creepypasta or a gielinor creepypasta? Is it the story of a player finding something wierd that interweaves the two worlds or is it an in world story?

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
What I had in mind was for the story to be told by an anonymous player, recounting something they'd seen or stumbled upon which they know they shouldn't have - something that scared them to the point where they felt it had to be told.
That, or it could be in the form of an urban legend; the storyteller hasn't witnessed anything themselves, but they know it's there. "There is a frightful, little-known enigma surrounding the long-running MMO, Runescape..." < Along this lines of this.
Either way though, it'd be a story of player-made discovery, not a part of Glienor's actual (or rather, "admitted" ) history or content.
Who knows, Dusk? a psychotic mind might be of some value...

I like it to do more from a rp point of view thought, like a player lost in the swamps of morytania followed by a psycho, vampire and a werewolf

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
...
Anyways, I like Blaze's idea. I was definitely thinking of something along the lines of having a *player* discover something that happens within the context of the game, not something that happens within the context of the world. Definitely could have a lot of fun with Examines, items appearing where they shouldn't, automatic inventories, etc, etc.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
If the workers of the mine work for Drakan then they are not Zamorakian... or rather, that fact they are Zamorakian would be irrelevant. They are either slaves or loyal subjects of Drakan.
I think the best creepy stories are the ones which play of old wives' tales... things we've grown accustomed to just being lies we tell to make kids behave, but are actually true. Something under your bed, in your wardrobe, etc.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
Wasn't there that vampyre ore in the passage way leading up to the Temple of Light? Or, they shared the same examine. This was prior to the graphical update the Temple of Light had ages ago.

Re: A Runescape Creepypasta
That could be an interesting detail to include, 3mpty. Escpecially as it's well known for having raised a few eyebrows before.
A raper, Dusk? Do you mean a rapist?
I was thinking the story might revolve around an inclusion to the game that had been hidden away mysteriously, and contains seemingly senseless riddles and symbolism, but all very dark.
Everyone search for 'Another YouTube' on youtube. That kind of thing. A miasmic mystery hidden from all players' eyes, scary for its crypticness as well as its sheer frightfulness. Perhaps it was programmed in by a single member of jagex staff without the others knowing? Perhaps its a hidden, hostile message created by Jagex on the whole?
There's many a possibility here.
