I don't see what all the fuss is about...
Part of me is pleased to see it return as a sign that the community has managed to remove cheaters from the cult.
Another part of me couldn't care less because I don't play anymore.
The other part is disapproving, because it undoes a lot of the work Jagex has done over the years to build the new PvP communities, some cheaters and scammers who sat out all these years may just return whilst some of the players lost will not and we end up going back to where we started.
(Though personally, I always had the opinion that the players that just quit over the Wilderness removal were being petty and downright pathetic, because so many facets of the game also existed).

My friend from school quit after they removed the wilderness because PKing was all he did. Well, he had a main account which he used to play... so he transferred the funds to his pking account, and used that to pay set-up. But PKing can be self-contained so easily - buy food and stuff with the spoils, etc.
Yeah, other things existed, but it's not petty that he quit when what he played for was removed. He'd already stopped playing in the general sense. PKing was to him like the forums were to me, I guess.

And that is why Jagex upload new quests and skills, to give people things to do. It isn't the only game to offer player killing.

They DONT have to play RuneScape, there are other games with player killing. It's when they took it too seriously did it annoy me.

RuneScape was/is the largest FREE mass-online multiplayer... yes, there are others, but RuneScape has the largest F2P community.

A huge amount of members quit too, simply because the PvP in this game was, and now again is unlike any other game out there. A large number quit games all-together or went to private servers, by the way.

I wish there was a better looting system/pick up system... just so right clicking doesn't take up the whole screen and half the time still isn't displaying everything.
Perhaps there should still be gravestones, just you can loot the ones in the Wilderness (displaying a sort-of bank screen style pop-up).

You will get attacked when picking up stuff, and being able to adjust food and prayers to that is kinda vital :$

I went to go Pking (despite knowing that the odds are stacked against me), but there was no one there! Where was everyone? I bought some cheap armour that would be safe to lose, but no sign of anyone.

Depends where you were. There are a couple of hot worlds, but don't expect Jagex to recognize them with their themed thing. Then there are a number of hotspots, mainly edgeville, varrock, fog, bh bank in low wildy, rune rocks, greater demons, members gate, east gate en chaos dwarves in high wildy.
If I'm pking with the clan it takes no more than 5-10 minutes to get a track on people, simply with a few of us scouting other worlds when we're logged out and in the lobby. If you're single pk'ing, try green dragons I think :$ Haven't actually P2p'ed since 06
