News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
First topic message reminder :
I got a shock when logging in to get some screenshots for photoshopping purposes when I saw;
"Melee weapons slice through ranged and magic armour with ease..." then it went to the log in screen before I could catch the rest.
I was like... "NUH-UH! Well, it does at the moment, but you shouldn't advertise such a hole in the rock-paper-scissors like it's intentional!"
That's like saying... "We've replaced rocks with sharp rocks that will cut through paper... happy rock-paper-scissoring!".

But I know we have agreed that to split up the ranged and mage skills will be necessary.
Yes, agreed on that.
If you can come up with something other than "dodging arrows", I'll hear you out.
'cause like, even dodging arrows, that's nothing Defence can't do. You're learning evasiveness, not necessarily skill-specific.

AHEM! I hope you realize I will find each of you in your homes and kill you as you sleep if you ever utter that possibility again.

Do you remember my single greatest runescape achievement?

See, that's not acceptable. It's the achievement of getting 99 DEFENCE that I liked, and I don't want damn compensation, even if it's a 99 in another skill.

Re: News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
Well the same can be said for any skill. You support splitting Magic, some people will be angered by that for the same reason.
Re: News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
but they still would have a 99 in one of those skills if they chose, and it would be a direct descendent. You seem to be suggesting the total abolition of the defense skill which is entirely different.

Re: News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
I mean if it is used ONLY for wearing armor, then what is its purpose?
Oh yeah, to have a nice cape? I'm sure if it were eliminated, although I doubt that will happen, armor wearing requirements will easily be integrated intro their respective combat type.

Haha, I was playing with an alternative combat system (writing for the hell of it not with intent to suggest) and Defence was somewhat integrated into the combat level. However, it could still be used. I hadn't actually planned how to limiter content yet.
Re: News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
What is the purpose of attack? It doesn't actually do anything that useful except in conjunction with the weapons it unlocks the use of...
What is the purpose of ranging, it unlocks weapons, with which it becomes useful...

Haha, I don't know what you're trying to prove. I ditched those too.
But I'm thinking of reintroducing Attack, Magic and Defence... possibly Ranged.

Re: News Just In: Rock beats Paper!
Okay, I'm with you on many things, but if you want to change the entire way that combat works and basically ditch every skill involved in it, I'ma kindly ask you to go play another game. Or design your own. I think we have to draw a fine line between improving the current system (splitting magic, adding strength skills, adding perks and augments) and just being annoying by trying to completely redesign combat in another system. We are Runescape suggesters...and I think at least some level of realism should underlie that.

Haha, I did say that this wasn't intent for a suggestion. You rattled your own cage here buddy.
