League of Legends
First topic message reminder :
League of Legends is a game in the DOTA/MOBA genre (Defence of the Ancients/Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). It really good... although, the community is a bit bi-polar (they're either really nice or the worst people you've ever had the displeasure of playing with).
The premise of the game is a cross between RPG (role playing game) and RTS (real time strategy). You have a base that you have to defend, and your enemies have a base you have to attack. Each base spawns minions/NPCs at regular intervals and you need to kill the enemy's to let your progress. Killing earns gold which you can buy items with.

Re: League of Legends
Agreed. Never been a fan of spectating (games or otherwise): but League of Legends is actually fun.
Re: League of Legends
Well, Riot just lost me as a potential customer. Apparently disconnecting once was enough to trigger a second suspension of three days.
Let me clarify, everyone in that game was disconnecting. Like there would be waves of three summoners disconnecting every five minutes. I got shafted.

Re: League of Legends
... they should likely roll that back. Everyone has been disconnecting over the last week. Heck, in the EU servers there was a crash the other night.
Curious, when the EU servers mess up they just ignore all would-be disconnects.

This thing crashes every time I try and load a game. I've yet to actually play at all...

Re: League of Legends
I can get through the lobby, I can pick a champion, lock in and begin loading the actual game
And at some point while the battle is loading, it'll crash. I've tried a bunch more times and one actually worked, but then my internet cut out... I'm starting to think LoL just isn't meant for my computer...

Haha, you still trying to do battle training? It's possible that it's just a bug with battle training. I thought you were crashing when trying to log-in... so all my advice is moot.
First, try a Co-op vs. AI... or a Custom.
If that fails in the same way: uninstal PandoMediaBooster (spelling may vary). It comes preloaded with League of Legends, but it's the first thing they recommend removing. Then, disable Windows Firewall/Defender (or add exceptions).

Re: League of Legends
I say, when you make Scape, you really must make it more accessible than this. I've been trying for almost a whole day to play LoL now. It took me less than a minute to start playing when I tried Adventure Quest (although everything else about that game sucked)

Re: League of Legends
Co-op vs AI yielded no improvement, I can't find Pandomediabooster anywhere - as if I never had it to start with, and Windows Firewall was already turned off
Any more ideas?

There's not much more you can do to make it more accessible, in all honesty. I suppose I could attempt to make patches roll-out instantly, rather than having to bring the servers down... or at least prevent new games from starting so soon to the cut-off. You were a bad example. I can almost guarantee I won't be making a browser-based game... RuneScape is the only one you'll find of any quality.
You're first impression of LoL is unfortunate... they really should have not allowed you to log-on so close to the patch, and your installation is apparently bugged.

I used to play until I realized how atrocious the community was...
On another note, howdy all.

Yes, the community is quite bad. I premade with 3+ people though, so we just ignore the other if they're dicks.
And: hey!

It's been, er...quite some time since I've posted, I'm afraid. Real life and a sudden distaste for Runescape had gotten in the way for a while...

Re: League of Legends
Elise's log-in theme has a creepy-eerie monologue. Just the part where she says, "My companion cried out in terror and fell to his knees. I embraced him. I told him he had nothing to fear. He was going to a better place. I will take them all to a better place."
... awwwh, don't be sad. I'm going to kill you now and it'll all feel better.

Re: League of Legends
I started playing Galio out of nowhere, and it's all thanks to Dominion.
You get to learn how to play a champion without being punished for doing badly (or, the punishment is negligable). Gold and experience is almost entirely generated passively - and being dead literally only denies you presence in lane and minion gold/experience. This means you can fail at landing skills early game (and ultimately die in fights) without falling behind. Now I'm landing his Q with relative ease (it's a really slow, ground targeted projectile - so it moves really slowly through the air, but only damages people in a small circle on impact). Now he's one of my highest win-ratio champs.

Re: League of Legends
Nice, I've been working on AP mids for a while, and I agree Dominion is a great way to learn champs. I started with Kennen and Swain, and I'm getting very comfortable with Ori. I've developed personalities when I play as each of em. >
