Quite possible!
The world's actually flat though.
Oh YES I did

300 years?!
We've got an almighty race fighting, people messing around with ancient artefacts, a god about to be reborn, portals to realms filled with monsters.
Heck, we'll be lucky to get grandchildren.

Re: sometimes... would be great..
nice thought Ruy
well 3mpty it seems interesting about that age of mech.. but is still Runescape named Runescape.. or should it be like Runescape III: Mech Era
ofc gnomes and dwarves have their steem and things, and that humans have a little of both. Are we still fighting with swords and shields or are we going over to heavy weapons (still large blades and spears). Or even to guns and rifles.. (own skill)
okey, what ever we do we need to figure out WHAT skills are included in a mech-like Runescape.
All that combat skill still - only maybe different things in it..
some kind of magic skills
mining and smithing - still the same, maybe some new ores ?
runes - depending on magic
summoning - depending on the surroundings
herblore - depending on the surroundings (if the nature is capable of herbloring?)
hunting - depending on the surroundings
prayer - yes, still the same?
agility - still the same
thiefing - sts
construction - maybe something new, in steam and other new things
dungeoneering - well, yes.. maybe.. its like dwarves who have mined through some ancient discovery (of the RS2 dungeoneering) and a new challenge are upon us...
cooking, fishing - cooking yes, fishing.. depending on the surrounding waters.. poison - not posion
Farming - depending on the surrounding
ranger - depending on the surrounding, the battle style and could be switch to some marksman or something.
crafting - yes,
woodcutting and firemaking - firemaking is depending on woodcutting and woodcutting is depending on the surrounding
slayer - depending
have I missed one? cant figure it out if

- Spoiler:
- hmm a WHAT IF-senario: Ruy talked about "portals to realms filled with monsters". What if we have a small island, a tiny piece of city. there should not be any monsters on this island, only for living and leveling.. mines, trees. fishes... But there could be portals to some new areas, or realms filled with numbers of monsters to defeat or get killed of.
okey I know what you say. "..its taken from the Stargate Saga - the Stargate itself would be the gates to the other realms.."
its just a thought. The world would be too damage from everything that happend in the past. The cities would have been intact with a mysterious shield that protects the city. Elves, fauns and goblins that haven't got these shields are hidding in safe areas. but gnomes, dwarves and humans have their city protected from the surrounding. to go out you have to have a armor to protect you with, (made maybe from the new ore or something and gives the owner the ability to go out there and fight for glory ) Okey to make it easy cities could have names like New Varrock City, New Falador, or something else similar... I know, its impossible ("nothing is impossible!"), but Imagine

Re: sometimes... would be great..
The Mech Age is like... futuristic. Mech means like robots and stuff. I mean, I have conceptualised the Mech Age, but I don't put much thought into it because the Modern Era still needs though.
RuneScape 3 shouldn't be in the mech age, you just asked what RuneScape would look like in the future.

Re: sometimes... would be great..
Umm...
The timeline I wrote a page or so back was;
2169 - Current date in RS2, irrelevant otherwise.
2552 - Date of the pregame/tutorial/our childhood quest.
2570 - Date of present day RS3.
(The year gaps might be too large. The 2570 was chosen for trivial reasons, so I think the 2552 would have to be made closer.)
(events happening now in present day would be postponed... things like the ritual would be about to happen)
(I don't really know why I set it in the future, I guess I wanted to keep all historical events architecturally accurate, but leave time for technology to evolve before the current events - so, in 2169 is was medieval, and in the present day it's semi-industrial)

Re: sometimes... would be great..
almost 400 years.. and what have happened in 390 years? are any documents left of the old world? are varrock, falador etc still known as "ancient metropolises" or do we need to find new names for these big cities, or do we even have them on the same place as before?? Yea supporting the 18 year after at RS3..
okey, we talked about the industrial world coming at hand, dwarves and gnomes and everything. Is this realistic or do we need to step back? Do we need to learn everything from the beginning again? IF nothing is left behind (any ruins from RS2)...
questions questions questions.. amazing ideas though

2203 - The end of the 2nd Godwars, keeping track of time was forgotten as most of Gielinor's inhabitants lost view of the sun.
2554 - Nothing really just a date that is awfully a lot like 2217.

Re: sometimes... would be great..
RS2 isn't destroyed, nothing particularly bad happens imbetween. Life just carries on for 400 years - with some new events to fill the gap, obviously.
Key stories would be postponed for the new present day... the mahjarrat ritual hasn't happened yet, Zaros hasn't been contacted, etc. It's all still due to happen. Larger cities like Varrock and Lumbridge would still exist - obviously different due to graphical updates, but the updates could include evidence of age (such as ruined walls). Most places would probably still exist, though.
Basically, 2169's story is being copied and pasted into 2570. The advance in time is just to explain technological advancement.

Re: sometimes... would be great..
Goblins attack Lumbridge, apparently, in the year (2)169... killing Lozar, one of three survivors of Crandor. So, this still has to happen in 2570 surely? Else we can't have Dragon Slayer!
Re: sometimes... would be great..
well they are just afraid of a complete invasion.. (in my "ascension Quest" the player stands infront of the invasion and are told to defend it, then falador against goblins and black knights and then defend the last siege of Varrock. Against orc and alot of orcs.. (then the player need to kill a orc general in wilderness, then be killed and ascend to Gielinor Valhall) I liked that quest.. :'| )

Re: sometimes... would be great..
I don't think it was an invasion, I think it was just a raid. Goblins are scavengers after all.
Re: sometimes... would be great..
oh well, just wonder if lumbbridge fought back during the 300 years or if they still are scared?
anything else that has happend during 3 0 0 years?

Re: sometimes... would be great..
Goblin's don't attack during those 300 years. And I don't think humans would fight back... aside from the initial raid obviously, 'cause it wasn't goblins declaring war, it was just one group.
Re: sometimes... would be great..
okey, so is Lumbridge any more developed? Further defences or?...
anything else
anything else
