First topic message reminder :

Homecoming Apocalypse
Many lives were spent during the war erasing Him from memory; desecrating His name and burning the remnants.

Stories from the time before Guthix speak of an Age of Darkness and that a matrix that was constructed to conceal the shadows; to imprison them and the filth that dwelt within. Though the matrix has remained sealed since, the feuding lords would not risk otherwise. And so efforts were made to conceal the matrix and prevent the empty rising. Keys scattered. Locks disguised. The shadows would forever be His prison.

But more than the likes of the light dwell within the unblinking darkness.

Each guardian within the quest is to be treated as a miniquest in itself, not merely a task within a quest. Storylines and such may be miniquest specific. Such as Malak, the creature you fight my not actually be the Guardian; combat isn't even necessary, as with Raunton.

He's already a skiller boss, given he doesn't fight back. Tongue

Furthermore, the other Curses should involve the 'Movement, Debuff, Sap, and DoT' pattern. Miasmic debuffs your attack speed.

The curses were more meant to be illusionary. Support, kinda. But yeah, I guess they could just be in convention with the other diamonds. Perhaps your "misc" category could be manipulation... or, hindrance. Fog, illusory and occlusive all hinder. Smile

Ooh, Adyna should have multiple diamonds. Grin She's obsessive, and started collecting them... maybe two or three? Mind, Facade and Illusory? Maybe. To further her indoctrination abilities. Grin

Colossus:
By skiller boss, I meant you damage him using your non-combat skills. I suppose could comprimise: you climb on him, and occasionally damage him by chopping at him or setting him on fire. Furthermore, he needs to hurt the player somehow!

Manipulation/Hinderance.
Support, kinda, I based the beacons' diamonds on the pattern seen in the Desert Beacon and adding a new theme kinda throws it off. Besides, it's similar to movement: your opponent's ability to move is altered.

Adyna having mulitple diamonds? That would make her one tough boss.

That would indeed. Smile

But it solves coming up with bosses for all the 5th diamonds, if Adyna has two of them plus her own. Tongue

Miasmic doesn't have to be with the Desert Beacon, if that helps your pattern. It currently has no Beacon, after all. A little bit for the trivia sections "Miasmic was in the game long before any of the other additional diamonds" and another "*something* was the only diamond required for the Desert Beacon not required to complete Desert Treasure". Smile

Colossus attempts to throw you off, or could throw you off every time you damage him. Grin

But I was merely pointing out ways it could hurt you, since Handeth was objecting to the no hurting the player. Wink

Wait, how would one obtain the Curse Diamonds? They 'don't belong' to any beacon and the Miasmic diamond currently is found via PvP.

Well there's an obvious answer to the Miasmic diamond, then, not sure how expensive it currently is in the ge though. Otherwise you can easily paste a surrogate somewhere in the shadow realm.

That's kinda what I've been saying - Miasmic is PVP, how are you going to get it. Tongue

But they would belong at *a* beacon, I merely meant Miasmic doesn't have to belong to Desert.

Well, PvP or buy the stick in the GE if you're against the principle of killing someone. But you can easily go around that stuff and all by making up something else, since I think the drops wouldn't be frequent enough to satisfy all potential questers for some time.

Perhaps have a "player" as the guardian? Revenant-style coding (perhaps massively improved given Jagex has shown they've improved in the AI department since revenants were released). They would wonder the Wilderness like a good old revenant and would drop the diamond for those completing the quest (they would be holding the staff, obviously). Smile

That would work. But the lore behind it would be interesting, especially if the diamond could be obtained over and over again.

And by not belonging to a beacon, are you suggestion a curse exclusive beacon?!

Since all of the revenants are being moved to a dungeon, I guess Zuriel could be the revenant guardian of the Miasmic Diamond.

It's boring. Tongue

Looks like Zuriel's might become more common with it being dropped by the Chaos Elemental, and revenants becoming easier. Since this is a miniquest, and not required at all, perhaps having a monetary requirement wouldn't be so bad. It's not like you have to keep it... buy it, use it, sell it. You get to keep the diamond afterwards anyway.
